    The Nomad God IV: The Second Coming

    We have become better motivated, brought among us one other, and made plans for the future. In shame we left, and in glory we have returned.

    And so I give to you:

    The second Command Carrier, CVC-II Heshed


    And the return of the Dustwars, and it's greatest sign, the Megastation





    And the megatiation works, just as planned. More is to come.

    Ok, here are some ships we have been working on. there are many more planned, which I will report on later, but these are the ones currently underway.

    Hiigaran:

    Destroyer, Type II Probably a Guided Missile Destroyer, in it's very early stages.

    Cloaking Field Frigate by fluffypuppy

    Vaygr:

    Khivaana Ts`eiduq Battleship
    More Battleship

    Shalt`abar Battlecarrier
    More Battlecarrier

    Missile Frigate by spongeman, though it may be used for something else.


    We will also be intruducing a third race, but havn't designed any ships, or even come up with any designs, so that will come later.

    I guess tyr hasn't had very much to say, `specially after i kinda usurped his Foundry thread :P

    Anyway, the vaygr battleship is in the process of being UVed, and it looks like i forgot to post something.

    Two Hiigaran frigates

    The right one is the Energy Torpedo frigate. Energy torps are basically really big plasma bomb, superheated plasma contained by a mag bottle.

    The other is somewhat undecided, but may be armed with a singe Nanite cannon. Only time will tell.

    Well, i can't be too sure when we will release anything, but thre is definitly a possibility that we will release the CVC and BB as soon as both are done. As I mentioned before, the BB is still being UVed (or it was yesterday, but i'm not home this weekend, so i wont be able to start again until monday evening) and the CVC has its construction hardpoints in, but is still getting its dockingpaths from Deathwish. After that it will need a little more tweaking, the appropriate capture and repair points, as well as point defence guns, and then it will be ready. It is a similar case with the BB, but that should be quicker, though it is not yet as well completed.

    So, in short, we may be releasing those two ships as early as the 9th, but possibly much later, as we may choose to include other ships also.

    I still need to rewrite the build and research trees, as i deleted the old ones, which were set up for testing purposes only.

    Nice to see you guys back.

    Suggestion? Release sooner rather than later, k? A full third race is pretty aggressive and might take well into 2005 before you put something out the door that's reasonably complete and balanced.

    Retroboy: Yeah, thats probably true. We should be putting out a realease soon, within the next week we hope. The 3rd race is rather ambitious and most certainly a long-term goal, especially with all the AI issues that have come up for other teams. We want to get the new ships for the Higs and Vaygr first.

    And as you say, Sooner is definitly better than later.

    certain people are being slow and lazy (not to critisize too heavily. after all people have real lives too), while i am having technical problems.


    As for the Foundry, I probably won't do a lot of work on it for a while, since it isn't really a multiplay ship. i might do a little work, but that wont make it come out any sooner. It will probably get done along with the 3rd race stuff (which measne in a long time).

    dang what a shame. It was fun to see the foundry with super hull defense guns and turreted ions, but the polies were too high

    Well, if i'm stingy with the goblins, it should be fine the second time around. Current count is 5387. 'course the turrets and such will have to done carefully, but the polys should be ok, whenever i finish.....

    As for the Vaygr Battleship, i have it ingame, with partial equipment. still needs defensive weapons, docks, and subsystem joints, as well as an engine subsystem. She is a deadly ship, offensive firepower rating around 12000. probably have some 8 lances and a number of kinetic HDGs.

    The current website is kind of empty at the moment. I'm working on developing a new version but it's nowhere near complete.

    Goat: I figured you were being facetious, that's why I was being sarcastic

    Edit: Oh hey, I just thought of a redesign idea for the work in progress site I'm doing for ya; I could just do a stylized/simplified version of the ship textures I'm currently using to clutter up the theme heh, then it'd be half as noisy and still look vaygr. In plain english, I could trace the main outlines in illustrator then export to photoshop for cutting up into a web template. Sound good?

    Glad to see work being done on the megastation. I would love to see it in game. The command Carrier Mk II and other ships look good too. Any chance of having a modified Vaygr Battleship?

    Essentially it would be similar to what you've done except that there would be three of missile launchers that would be radially symmetric when viewed from the front (like the radiation hazard trefoil, similar to the concept art for the sensor frigate or whatever it was that was supposed to have three arms that opened up -- see bottom frigate in my avatar at left). Each of those 'arms' would have a Vaygr DD type missile launcher and a Vaygr DD turret on it (on the same surface that the missiles launch from).

    gthompsn: sorry, not likely. But, you will probably like the Command Battlecarrier Geburah, which is equipped with with numerous light cannon, and a series of large missile-turrets.

    ok, just to update here: we have been a bit behind, but were are making up the difference, albeit slowly. Fluffypuppy is working on the Escort Destroyer, while i have been working on texturing the battleship. I daresay i've improved my technique, but still ahve a lot of hull-area to cover yet. I've been polaying around with a few other things, including putting goblins on the Hiigaran Dreadnaught (Production Type) and generally prepping it for UV. I improved the new Hiigaran destroyer (what i will use it for is still unknown, myabe nothing. i might take that design as a generic hull upon which i can base the newer types), but it is still very low-poly. giving tenative release dates is probably not a good idea, since i'm already more than a week behind what i expected.

    Just bear with me, eh?

    I'll ahve the BB done by the weekend, with any luck.
