here you go. painted this a few months ago when i first joined this forum. i was lobbying to get the corvus helmet in the game somewhere. assualt marines would have been cool with them.


this model is actually a re-paint of a previously awful paintjob.

Heh, yeah I remember that thread, it made me want to put those helmets on all my Assault Marines, although I have't got round to it yet.

That is a very nicely painted model. You have done a good job highlighting the red, in my experience when I highlight red it usually come out looking a bit pink. Although I think that the red you have used may not be quite dark enough for Blood Ravens.

I beleive you said in your origional post that you were experimenting with getting metalic effects without using metalic paint. It is a particually difficult technique but I think it really adds something different to this model.

Can we expect to see a whole squad or is this a one-off?

The shoulder pads in particular are very, very nice.

I agree. How did you paint that so faithfully ? I seem to always have problems with complex pad designs. Any tips ?

Jono: your red highlights come out pink because you are probably mixing white with it. try using blazing orange which i have done in this model.

Asklepios: before i paint any sort of freehand drawing on a model i always draw in on paper with pencil so i know how to do it. then i move to painting it several times on my work table to get that down right. then if im feeling confident enough i'll paint it on the model. i must say however that im not very proud of this model as it was done up in a flash. i started the other 4 models in the squad but didnt see it worth my time to complete them. dont think i will either
