When were the Cadian Pylons built?

    Double Post

sorry, pressed enter by accident - what I was going to say was *ahem*

When were the Cadian Pylons built? The implication is that they were built by the Necrons, bu-ut - the Necrons existed way, way back, sightly after the dawn of the univere, and then went into a nice long nap right up until about M39 or so. All well and good - however
The Pylons are apparently there to hold back the Eye of Terror.... however, the Eye of Terror came into being around about M30, the same time as the fall of the Eldar and the dissipation of the warp storms around Earth.... 9 Millenia before the Necrons began to come out of hibernation

So the question is - did the Necrons / C'tan wake up early, and build the Pylons on Cadia - or did they build lots more, way back when, in the hopes of stopping any warp outbreaks - or am I completely wrong altogether?

He had already established that it was the necrons sir guppy...
Well the Necrontyr built the Pylons before they went into the bodys that you see now, on behalf of the C'tan. I'm pretty sure that the necrons or the C'tan must have found out about the Eldar and realised that the warp would open into the universe. In my opinion, the C'tan being slightly jumpy about the fact that concentrated warp energy is the only way to kill them (that is known) built the pylons in order to contain the spread of the warp. I think that theres more Pylons than just one Cadia,I think some fluff mentioned about them on Armaggeddon actually... so yeah they built them to try and prevent the outbreak of chaos before they went into stasis.

Actually the Pylons were built before the Necrons went to sleep. They are part of the "Great Plan" to close the warp from the material universe.

Which was attempted by the rogue inquisitor Quixos, but Eisenhorn stopped him before he could complete that plan. I think that Quixos may have been ona planet with a great many pylons, but I'm not sure I'd have to look at mallues and I'm too damn lazy right now.

Right, it's just a happy coincidence that there are pylons are on cadia, and thus keep the eye of terror in check. However, thanks to Chaos winning so many battles, the pylons are cracking under the stress of trying to hold back the warp. :gonemad:

Incorrect! you do not win any prizes today. The pylons were discovered to be cracking long ago, not because of Chaos forces winning battes or Abaddon's 13th Black Crusade.

Remember, Cadia is not a target because it's pylons "hold back the eye of terror." Abaddon wanted to capture Cadia because it's pylons made the Cadian Gate the only safe passage for Chaos to get OUT of the Eye of Terror! If the pylons were to be taken down, his forces would suffer horribly, being ripped to shreds by the indiscriminate warp storms that surround the Eye. That is, unless GW decides to change the fluff again.
