    Turret information

    Where is the information for rotation and declenation stored for turrets? In the Gun info on the shp file, or in the peo itself? I ask because I am interested in seeing if my troubles lie within the Shp file or in the Peo. Not sure I set the objects up correctly.

    When I made the peo, I made sure all the parts for the turrets were located at the point 0,0,0 and then moved/copied them with HWSE 1.27b. They appear to work in game (mostly, except I think HWSE is still buggy in that respect, because it made the two lower turrets rotate 180 degrees off where they are meant to be) but the rotations and declinations are way off.

    Each gun in the .shp file is copied, so has the same statistics as the last. All I'm trying to do is get the guns not to fire into the ship.

    right then got the turrents fixed, and the top two guns are firing ok, just the bottom set to do, i will get back soon.

    its a fixed!

    :square: Done it, its totally fixed, the bottom turrent bases are now in view,go to objects in hwse, then select either turrent 03 or 04 select edit matrix and under the z colum (rotation) you will see it says 180, this rotates the object by 180 degrees in the z axis, (and is used on both bottom turrets) as shown in this pic

    As for the firing arcs of the guns, that is all shp file stuff (as far as i know) its just a matter of tweaking the firing arcs until the guns fire where you want them to.

    Yes i do use hwse, not for any major mods just modding existing homeworld ships, adding extra gun ports etc see this thread

    it is possible to do backward firing turrets by a similar method... just make sure your turrets are modeled facing up/forward. Then use HWSE, or another editor of choice (some modeling programs can do it, 3Dex can be coerced to do it, and MadEditor.exe can do it).... edit the matrix offsets so that the position is correct and the turret object has a 180degree rotation about the x-axis. Thus "forward" to the turret is now facing off the rear of the ship.

    Not quite intuitive to new mod'ers (like me just under 1 year ago when i figured that out), but roll with it ... it will make sense

    battleship has rear-fire turrets like that.
