[HOW TO]Get your custom Badges/Banner to show up IN GAME.

"I figured out a way around this it will even do this with preset badges....(not showing up ingame)
Ok in a MP game before the game starts (before clicking ready) go to your paitner by doubling clicking your colors with litte paint container next to it. This will bring up the army painter just hit apply and save and it will show up every time just as long as you do it rigth before a game starts...."

Got this from another 'badge problem' thread and it works!

It does work, although I have had AIs with the same race as me then ALSO show up in my colours and with my badge/banner !

Ah well, ya can't win em all. At least this is a good 'temporary' solution and just being able to SEE your own badges and banners is cool!

Kinda funny when you see your allies and enemies using the same badge/banner as you. Oh well, funky bug.

Can't really say this works, though. My badges do show up in the game most of the time, though there occasions when they don't.

Doesn't work for me...I can't even see my (custom) badge on the model in the Army Painter (but I can see it in the Badge Selection window).

It sounds like when you are designing the badge it is either not saving the Alpha channel or not at the correct bit rate. Remember it must be 24 or 32 bit TGA, 64x64 pixels. I have found that two programs that don't work for this are Photoshop Elements (won't save TGA's to 24 or 32 bit files) and PaintShop Pro 8.0 (won't save an alpha channel to a TGA file). For some reason the Paintshop pro will work for me about 1 time out of 10.. maybe. I'd get the GIMP mentioned on the sticky about badge design at the top of this board. It works and it's free. I followed the instructions on the afore metioned post and now I'm cranking out the badges and banners. Good Luck!

yupp, i'm using the Paint Shop Pro 8. and as mentioned i noticed it fucks up the alpha channels ... GIMP hmm?

Edit: OK, just found it.. you can download GIMP here

or here... its homepage, i think

Yes, allies also display the same banner as you, though not always I think.
Also, when playing Eldar, the banner does not show up, regardless. Haven't tried it for the other races yet...

A word of warning. The walk through given on the stiky is good, except for one thing. I can't find the menu's he is talking about when adding transparency to the badge. He may possibly have an earlier version of Gimp or I may be slightly incompitent.

Also, has anyone figured out the actual banner size? 64x64 works, but is stretched out a little. I have gotten past this by making my banners 64x80 then scaling the image to 64x64. this squishes it a little which makes it look just about right when the game stretches it back out. If anyone knows the actual pixels by pixels banner size though, I'd like to know it.
