    Complex is a mod that takes heavy use of scripts.

    If it is not complete or there are missing lines you want be able to test a lot of things.
    ^^ ... In addition to that even providing updates to the public costs time.

    And time is stuff ... ;-) - Right, all you other modders out there ???

    yeah i found few things that need fixing but that is in 5.5 and i have no way of knowing if they are corrected in next version like cap ship explosion radius being too big rendering bombers and use of formations almost impossible but from wip list on your mainpage i see you work on that

    as for updates i dont mean anything big just few lines that wont take more than 5min alternatively testers could take care of it

    i put complex in homeworld data folder that goes richt but when i try to modefy the shortcut he dont accept it sorry i dont speak very good engels

    you shorcut should look like this: E:\Games\Sierra\Homeworld2\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe -mod Complex55.big
    of course it must match destination where YOU have Homeworld instaled
    there are 2collums so be sure you choose 1st one
    2nd under it is something you dont want to mess with
    also you may try: "E:\Games\Sierra\Homeworld2\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe" -mod Complex55.big
    " included it works on some systems

    yes and no becouse noobs would just reasearch everything and build a massive fleet ready to destroy the CPU

    yes becouse it gives you a little play around untill your ready and also it can make a challenge for the poeple who like extremly hard challenges----make the CPU hyperspace in first then after 10 mins (say) you hyperspace your self in.

    like Dreagnought said you need inhibitors especialy in MP otherwise you will have juggernauts jumping into your mining ops or into your fleets
    in SP it prevents AI to jump mothership away they are dumb and jump it just bit away but still its annoying
    not to mention that AI rarely has big ships that would need to jump into battle...

    Hi everyone.

    I tried signing up to the forums but I never got a confirmation email?

    Anyway I downloaded the mod and got it all installed and extracted properly and I opened up homeworld 2 and down the bottom corner it had the "Complex 5.5" logo.

    So I started a CPU vs Player match , just kept the options as normal and click started. The loaded screen came up and it loaded all the way but after it finished loaded I just got a black screen then back to desktop. No error message or anything.

    I had a look in the logfile and it mentioned an error with the deathmatch game type...even though the game type I had selected was complex 5.5

    That's a very odd bug. But it will be worth the troubleshooting time. I assume you saw the trailer? It's awesome.

    Odd. That profile was created December, last year.
    I had a look in the logfile and it mentioned an error with the deathmatch game type...even though the game type I had selected was complex 5.5
    First of all, the file is alright. Homeworld 2 automatically looks for deathmatch.lua, and as the gametype name is taken from the filename, that's normally displayed as the gametype. This file is always needed - But a modder can override the name to make it look like a different gametype, in this case Complex 5.5.

    All I can think off is that you could try doing this on a clean install. Or rather move everything out of your data folder, except the following:
    • Animatics (folder)
    • Complex55.big
    • English.big
    • EnglishSpeech.big
    • Music.big
    • Homeworld2.big


    Everythign else, just move to another folder and see if that works. Also, try another level. At worst, try to redownload the mod. I also assume you have the v1.1 patch. Without this, you *cannot* use mods, atleast not without alot of crashes. Good Luck.

    I also noticed you seem to be useing windows NT? maybe this might be causeing some problems....

    try asking for a new password (if you can) then relic forums will send you a new passworld via email which you need to conferm in 24 hours then once you've confermed your new passworld you type in that new passworld and your user name to sigh in then you can change your passworld back to what it was and also your account should be confermed.

    Yup everything is working now. I had to update the game. I was running V1.0.

    Oh and I'm not running NT haha I had it set in compatability mode because I was testing something out and I just forgot it was on.

    Thanks for the help! BLoody fun game...although its sooooooooo slow. I love it.

    yea I hate lag aswell (if you was talking about lag) but it very rarly happens to me becouse I have a good computer, but even the best computers can create lag.

    I think it was said before, or was in the readme, I don't know but the solution is to put your hw2.log on read-only. The hw2.log is in your GAMEDIR\Bin\release folder.

    I have an old computer (with only 256Mb of RAM) and it doesn't lag, except in massive battles with dozens of battlecruiser and many fighters.

    I love it when you have millions of fighter corvettes and figates and cap-ships and you fight someone that has the exact same amount of fighters ect, the results after are intresting but on some mods like the FXmod I go on kadesh and fight with swarms and swarms of swarmers once I had 100 swarmers and I murderd my enemy, lol.

    anyway back on-topic, I wonder what new ships the complex team have made for complex v6.0

    beghins always did his work and every complex version released a few months after the release date wich was set.

    I think you could trust him that he'll release 6.0. But as he said he want's it to be perfect so we'll may have to wait a bit longer ...

    you can play skirmish against cpu .... But I think no Campange.

    ... hm try Vaygr tutorial mod or PDS - there was a version where you can play singleplayer

    Custom maps seem to crash the game with this mod unfortuently. However, yes, but my memory as to where is abit off, I assume in the starnded deathmatch folder, but someone else will have to say where exactly.

    To add a standard map to complex you have to edit map parameters to mimic that of complex. Once you do that you can add it to the deathmatch directory.

    tactics question

    Ok, love the mod!!

    Seems I get wiped out very quick though. I'm just getting around to building warships and suddenly an armada of frigates and a couple destroyers rolls in and eats me up. Around year 5-8.

    I can't seem to find a steady way to build the fleet with even honor/rank/ru.

    Anyone give me some simple year 1-20 tactics to get around the ai slaughter?

    (I've been playing HW since it came out and have a great time, I can own that ai!)

    Hmmk. First and formost, resourcers!!

    You need to build up atleast two unique operation or atleast roughly 12, but more recommended collectors.
    On the Ms, i always build a harvester module straight up, and move it in range of the resource operation so the benifets apply. (press tab to cycle though views, you'll see)

    upgrading your MS weapons will keep her guarded on her own (specifically damage improvement and maybe 1 level attack, and torp. launchers). I tend to build both normal and pulsar gunships to help defend that 2nd resource operation.

    You can beat games without even fighting until you send in your massive fleet, but if you send in some ships over the course of time, you'll find your hounor increaseing so much faster.

    don't bother researching every one you can find, as you know that its pratically impossible. just do ones that apply to you most.

    try different things. my friend once fully upgraded his mothership, ion cannon, defence shield, etc. It pratically defeted most of the ai's fleet without taking hardly any damage... that was until i got three jugganaughts in there and it was history :P (for the record, the ms's ion cannon can take out a destroyer in one hit, and has a range of atleast 11km. thats praticallly its max sensor range, although I dont know if there was any upgrades or anything. get a ship and use move command to see just how far this is :P)

    Notice i havent said anything about frigates/fighters? Well, use these if you want, i just dont. i tend to go corvettes, then bc's in most of my games (should i be saying this? lol) It's just my playing style. adopt if you must, but you'll feel better at making your own.

    and most importantly, enjoy playing! Just ask if you need anything else.

    I will try these suggestions. My classic hw tactic is similar, I try to get at least 3 mining operations going to provide RU then start researching and building a fleet. In complex, I seem to get too overextended too fast and bottom out.

    I'll give this plan a shot. Thanks

    well he was stupid inhibitor on such ship is must in MP
    and fully ugraded MS has no problem to take out several BCs(one per shot)

    any idea when 6.0 comes out?? :P

    fully upgraded can take out SY without armor upgrade if its upgraded you need 2 shots
