Our IRC server is now up, so you can now come and chat with us. For those of you who know the drill, here's the info you'll need.

For those of you who are new to IRC, here's some additional information.
What is IRC?
IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. Essentially it's a live chat medium, with the channel (think of it as a room) being hosted on a server. You can converse in real time with everyone and anyone else in the channel, as well as exchange private messages with particular people.
How do I connect?
To connect to IRC you'll need an IRC program of some kind. We highly recommend mIRC - it's probably the most widely used IRC program out there, and is very easy to install and setup. Just download the program from one of these links, install it, and connect to the server.
To connect, you need to type /server irc.hwcommunity.com, and hit enter. Once the program connects to the server you need to join the channel. Do this by typing /join #dow_community and hit enter. Then you'll be in!
If you have any problems, please feel free to PM one of the moderators here, and they'll be happy to help you out. This thread documents some of the most common problems.
If you don't want to install an IRC client, or can't (for example if you use a school computer), then you can connect to our server by using this link to a free, web-based irc chat. You'll need Java enabled on your web browser.
Thanks to Brother Glacius for the link.
But I'm already on another server!
Fret not; mIRC allows you to connect to multiple servers. The quick and easy way is like this:
/server -m irc.hwcommunuty.com
pH14 and Animal have kindly provided this more in-depth guide:Okies, here we go.
To add the server into the server list:
View > options > servers > add > type the server address info (irc.hwcommunity.com) and the group/description name (for eg. Homeworld)
Add to your startup using nnscript:
NoNameScript > setup > favorite nets > find the server (eg. Homeworld) in the available networks list and plunk it to the ‘favorite’ side > highlight the server and tick off “connect at startup”
Everytime you start mIRC it should connect you automatically.
