DVC You is amazing... Also this thread proves to us that our ideas and thoughts DO count to what Relic is doing. I mean this could mean that we might see some of our ideas and theories in HW2. For example I might say: 'Wow, that ship looks like a ship Vijil drew.' And little will I know, it IS the ship Vijil drew. I've always wondered though, what if a game were to be made from only community ideas... Would it be good? I'm hoping though that many of the great ideas and feelings that this community has go into HW2 or future Relic games (HW9 HW9 HW9 HW9!!!).
    Well done DVC.

    CAN I GET A WITNESS ?

ps. i suggest that everyone NOW goes forth and replays the first few missions of HW just to remind ourselves why we are here.

Dude, I so just re-played it like last week. Damn ending gets me every time *sniff*

Hmmm maybe we should co-ordinate a mass playing of Homeworld experience.... everyone get together on IRC and play one level at a time or something... be kinda interesting to play a level, chat about it... etc

    Hey Gang,

Catching up after the last few busy weeks...

Sometimes you get tunnel vision when working on a game that it is good to get reminded why your are doing what you are doing. And in my case it's working on HW2. Never ceases to amaze me.

DVC (I guess that's your nickname now) glad to see your post, and I hope you stick along for the ride, because we're going to do our best to make sure HW2 lives up to Homeworld. While it will be hard to equal it (expectations and all), HW2 will be a worthy sequel that captures the magic from the first.

It's going to be a fun ride.

That's a pretty cool idea. Imagine if it got some press? Articles on Gamespy etc. talking about a bunch of fans going hardcore all night.

    That is all.

I would be in ... in fact I would go out and buy another copy of HW (the third copy I'd own) since my copy is currently in Pittsburgh... but that weekend I'm going to be off skiing somewhere.

    :/

    Care to move the date?

(edited because I realized that although it would be the third copy I'd OWN, it wouldn't be the third copy I've BOUGHT since I got that free copy from Relic)

excuse me while I wipe the tears from my eyes...........

I also was near to tears when my MS first launched, and when I returned to kharak.
I'd never played MP games online before, and still don't really care for them. However, I felt that I owed something to relic, but more importantly to HW, so I've neglected my family, work and life to a certain extent for the last few months, trying to be the best, and trying to train as many people as I possibly could, within reason. I've not become bored of the game, and I've always found new things, and new ways to do things. Unfortunately my testimonial is too late, but, Homeworld, you are loved by so many people, for just being so touching. You seem to have touched so many. I hope HW2 carries on in the same vein, as cata seemed to be a little rushed to me.

I suggest we all get on won one day, and have a massive tournament or something. Random pairs, to give some of the newer players, and the players that haven't played for AGES a chance.

But again, thx a lot for the thread. It really was a pleasure to see so many people feeling the same way I do.

"Needless to say those that tried it are still playing it today!"

a year ago my xbf showed it to me, and i liked it alot. after we broke up, i went and got it and Cataclysm, and i've prolly played it through several times.

    now i'm even modding it.

so like Dan said, it's a really beautiful game.

    DVC great stuff.

Seen as though both you and fatDEMON are in Brisbane as is Eckhardf and myself we should catch up some time, even a game of HW.

Let us know what you think.

Any one else from Brisbane more than welcome to join in as well.

    Great post, DVC.

I have just recently dusted off the box and reinstalled HW again. This game falls into my category of games that just never stop being a joy to play. 3 years later, and I enjoy this as much as I did when I first bought it. There is yet to be an equal in gameplay, graphics, story, and "artistry".

In fact, this game is so pretty and enjoyable, that when I installed the demo at work, I had coworkers amazed at its graphics. I do believe I'm on the way to have some more converts...

Even better than the gameplay though, is that the community is still alive and well. Three years later, people are still online playing this; enmasse. This is more than some other games can say. I was amazed that I found a full room on WON when I got on. It was almost like 1999.

To Relic: I can't wait to see your endeavors on HW:2. I feel that may be the only game that re-shelves HW for a longer stint.

Hey, DVC. I enjoyed your letter. It was eloquent, and meaningful.

I bought the game yesterday, actually. I had played the demo a long time ago, back before the game came out. I wanted to buy it, but I never got around to it. So when I saw the Game of the Year Edition for about twelve bucks, I thought "What the heck, it's still good." I'm very glad I did.

I haven't posted here before, I've just read the message boards. But seeing your post compelled me to write. Homeworld is not just a game. It's more of an experience. The story, atmosphere, and just about everything else transcend the usual devices that are so prevalent in todays games. I've only gotten to the fourth mission, but I can feel myself getting sucked in. It's truly a gem in todays market, even almost three years after its release.

I really admire what Relic has done. It's an inspiration to me, as an amatuer game developer. I hope that they outdo themselves with HW2, but I have a strong feeling that they know what they're doing.

Seeing that Alex registered just to respond to DVC's post was really something. That shows an interest and a dedication that are fairly uncommon with most developers.

Anyway, I won't try to elaborate any further. DVC, you said all I could ever hope to say about HW.
