The textures on some units (Space marines are one example) get all...broken, they swirl untill I zoom in VERY close. This is not having a huga affect since you can barly see it anyway. But at mid-zoom it shows up alot.

Trevatd:
That's a result of how the different quality textures are made. Running the game with high textures will alleviate some of that.
Essentially it's by design.
To confirm, post a screenshot of the issue.
I have noticed the exact same issue. If you zoom in just enough for the texture to work right yet scroll away a little from the object that is having texture problems it shows up too. So basically it must be a function of object to camera distance. I imagine it is supposed to switch to a lower res texture when you zoom out to increase game speed, but that lower res texture is garbled in some things, like the Choas Temple for me. Some parts are "smeared" and even transparent when they should not be. I haven't tried adjusting the setting to see if that clears it up, but it seems like a bug that needs to be worked out at some point.
i have the same problem !
i play with high quality textures and the textures of all buildings and units are bugged
i have a geforceFX 5700 256 mo

Pergamos, if it's the same thing I think it is, it's not a bug, just the LoD system kicking in.
Gandjak, post your warnings.log file if you're having problems.

Well, you've got a pre-release verison of the 61.77 Forceware drivers, that might cause problems. Try updating to the latest.
After you do that, can you post a screenshot of the problem?
It's actually the model detail level that causes the textures to be screwed up - running at 'high' model detail should fix it.. but of course, it requires a faster CPU and video card.
First problem, It's allready set to high
I'm running a Radon 9800 Pro.

Sure enough when I set EVERYTHING to high it went away, but on my regular settings most textures are fine, only a few are screwed up. If that is "the way it is meant to be" it sounds like someone is getting lazy considering that most textures work fine(not trying to point a finger at anyone in particular). I play lots of other games and at lower detail levels they don't have these issues. Sure it doesn't look as pretty but to have textures flat out screwed up looks...amateur. I sure hope someone will decide it is worth fixing in a patch. I have:
2.4 P4
512mb DDR3200 ram
Ti4600 (128mb ram)
SB Audigy
XP Prof.
which exceeds the recommended specs, something doesn't add up here...

Nutter's also explained the process for how the textures were made for the various LoD models in another thread if you're interested in how they did it.
Something about taking the high quality textures and then scaling them down for each different LoD level. Due to the nature of the automatic texture conversion, or rather the change in the model's number of polys, the textures lose their mapping to the various points on the model, so they can look slightly skewed.
I'd really like to see an example of the skewed textures, as I've not seen them yet (I usually play with the camera in one fixed zoom level, so I'm not seeing the popping, also I am playing on the highest settings as well).
wait...Do'h! Eveything ws set to high BUT model detail. *Smacks forehead* Yeah It went away, but its almost impossible to play on multi or use the orcs.
Ok lets hope this works although it may be a bit big. This is only one example but you can see the skewed texture and the transparency on the right "door" there. In one of the SP mission one of the fleeing children gets this large brown spike until you zoom in (which looks kinda funny).
That dynamic texture system sounds great (I bet a nice bit of coding) but clearly has a few bugs to work out yet.

Pergamos, can you post your warnings.log file please?
Here she is:
Is it saying that I have 56.72 drivers? I installed the most recent ones and the device manager says they are 61.77...odd. I looked at my settings and the texture problem in my case is from having model detail at low (the graphic utility set it at that). Switching it to medium solves it. So I guess I won't need any new hardware at least.Code:W40K started at 2004-09-26 23:09 OS NT 5.1, 512MB Physical Memory RUN-OPTIONS WORKING-DIR C:\Program Files\THQ\Dawn of War USER Robert 23:09:10.5 MATHBOX -- Version=5, Cpu=INTEL Pentium-IV:f=15,m=2, Mode=SSE 23:09:10.5 GAME -- Warhammer, 1.00, Build 57117.44353 23:09:10.5 GAME -- Available memory: 511MB RAM, 1200MB Pagefile 23:09:10.5 State::State - set socket send buffer to 131072 23:09:10.5 State::State - set socket receive buffer to 131072 23:09:10.5 HostState - 192.168.0.4:6112 / 192.168.0.4:6112 23:09:10.5 Session : Now Host 23:09:10.5 Session : We are now a Host 23:09:10.6 PeerState - 192.168.0.4:6112 / 192.168.0.4:6112 23:09:10.6 PeerState::ConnectCallbackHost - connecting to host at 255.255.255.255:6112 23:09:10.6 GSTransport::Connect - GT2AddressError 23:09:10.7 SPOOGE - Driver[Dx9 : Hardware TnL] on adapter[0], version[4,32] 23:09:10.9 SPDx9 -- Driver Name = nv4_disp.dll Device = \\.\DISPLAY1 Desc = NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 23:09:10.9 SPDx9 -- Driver Vendor = 0x10DE Device = 0x0250 SubSys = 0x87251462 Rev = 0x00A3 23:09:10.9 SPDx9 -- Driver Version Product = 0x0006 Version = 0x000E SubVersion = 0x000A Build = 0x1628 (5672) 23:09:10.9 SPDx9 -- Driver GUID = {D7B71E3E-4110-11CF-FA61-2FA702C2CB35} 23:09:11.2 SPOOGE -- 234.00MB available texture memory 23:09:11.2 SPOOGE -- 234.00MB available texture memory 23:09:11.5 GAME -- Beginning FE 23:09:12.7 MOVIE -- Opening movie 'movies:relic_intro.lua' 23:09:14.0 MOVIE -- Closing movie 'movies:relic_intro.lua' 23:09:14.0 MOVIE -- Opening movie 'movies:dow_intro.lua' 23:09:14.5 MOVIE -- Closing movie 'movies:dow_intro.lua' 23:09:14.5 MOD -- (mod manager) W40k, 1.0 23:09:14.6 MOD -- (mod manager) Failed to load Folder 'W40k\Data_Shared_Textures\Full' 23:09:14.6 MOD -- (mod manager) Failed to load Folder 'W40k\Data_Sound\Med' 23:09:14.6 MOD -- (mod manager) Failed to load Folder 'W40k\Data_Whm\Low' 23:09:23.2 GAME -- Using player profile Pergamos 23:10:03.9 Skirmish - loading badge 'chaos_marine_race/AlphaLegion' for player (0) 23:10:03.9 Skirmish - loading banner 'chaos_marine_race/AlphaLegion' for player (0) 23:10:03.9 Skirmish - loading badge 'ork_race/Coffs' for player (1) 23:10:03.9 Skirmish - loading banner 'ork_race/Coffs' for player (1) 23:10:03.9 Skirmish - loading badge 'ork_race/EvilSunz' for player (2) 23:10:03.9 Skirmish - loading banner 'ork_race/EvilSunz' for player (2) 23:10:03.9 Skirmish - loading badge 'chaos_marine_race/Nurgle' for player (3) 23:10:03.9 Skirmish - loading banner 'chaos_marine_race/Nurgle' for player (3) 23:10:03.9 Skirmish - loading badge 'ork_race/Snakebites' for player (4) 23:10:03.9 Skirmish - loading banner 'ork_race/Snakebites' for player (4) 23:10:03.9 Skirmish - loading badge 'space_marine_race/spacewolves' for player (5) 23:10:03.9 Skirmish - loading banner 'space_marine_race/SpaceWolves' for player (5) 23:10:03.9 Skirmish - loading badge 'chaos_marine_race/IronWarriors' for player (6) 23:10:03.9 Skirmish - loading banner 'chaos_marine_race/IronWarriors' for player (6) 23:10:03.9 Skirmish - loading badge 'chaos_marine_race/WordBearers' for player (7) 23:10:03.9 Skirmish - loading banner 'chaos_marine_race/WordBearers' for player (7) 23:10:03.9 APP -- Game Start 23:10:03.9 GAME -- Ending FE 23:10:04.0 GAME -- Beginning mission 8P_DATURIAS_PITS (1 Humans, 7 Computers) 23:10:04.0 GAME -- Recording game 23:10:06.6 MOD -- Loading Win Condition(DATA:Scar/WinConditions/CONTROLAREA.SCAR) 23:10:06.6 MOD -- Loading Win Condition(DATA:Scar/WinConditions/STRATEGICOBJECTIVE.SCAR) 23:10:06.6 MOD -- Loading Win Condition(DATA:Scar/WinConditions/ANNIHILATE.SCAR) 23:10:07.5 GAME -- Preloading all models 23:10:07.9 RENDER ANIM -- Art/EBPs/: Unable to open file! 23:10:12.1 GAME -- Applying Team Colours 23:10:43.0 GAME -- Precaching Events 23:11:02.9 GAME -- Loading completed (59 seconds) 23:11:02.9 SIM -- Setting SyncErrorChecking level to Low 23:11:02.9 GAME -- Starting mission... 23:11:59.1 SimulationController::Pause 1 23:12:02.3 APP -- Game Stop 23:12:02.3 GAME -- Ending mission (Abort) 23:12:02.3 SimulationController::Pause 0 23:12:04.6 GAME -- Beginning FE 23:13:42.1 GAME -- Ending FE 23:13:42.2 MOD -- (mod manager) shutting down 23:13:43.7 SPOOGE -- 232.00MB available texture memory 23:13:43.7 SPOOGE -- 233.00MB available texture memory Application closed with error code -1

Hmmmm yeah it does say the old drivers... you might want to get that sorted out. Try to reinstall the 61.77 ones if you could.
i have installed the last drivers for my video card and nothing changes
here a screenshot

damn pergamos you was right, i'm a foolish stupid guy fogetting to configure the game's graphics options BEFORE playing. Sorry for eveything love this game

You might try it and see if it speeds things up (which might let you run higher detail for other settings).
