I may just be a whiner

but it seems to me that chaos space marines route WAY WAY TO EASY. i just played a game against a sm player. i was in heavy cover with a full squad of chaos space marines and got attacked by 6 space marines. i got PWNED. my guys routed within 5 secs. they had no special weapons and no snipers and they were in negative cover. chaos space marines are supposed to be badasses that have lived for 10000 years not pussies that get scared when they see a handfull of space marines

Umm.....6 vs. 1? No matter how upgraded you are, you will lose that. Overwhelming numbers *like 6-1* beat cover, upgraded weapons, and maybe not abilities, anyday.

Um I think he meant 1 squad of 6 marines not 6 squads.

Be specific? Tell us which. Tell us exactly what the situation was.

The 'handful of space marines' line sounds like he means 6 marines, not 6 squads.

That is......interesting. If it is just 6 space marines, with no sargeant, no apothecary, no special weapons or abilities, and in negative cover. And you, with a full squad of 10 CSM, upgraded, champion, abilities, strange? Am I missing something?

He never mentioned any upgrades dude. Just pure space marines in neg cover (count 6) vs pure (or rather unpure) chaos space marines in hvy cover (count 10).

I have yet to try that myself but if thats true thats real crappy. Cover should give you a moral bonus......

SM had bionics perhaps? That could tip the balance. Or Frag Grenades while he wasnt looking

Cover does not save you from moral. Also, flamers bypass cover, and snipers, although their damage is greatly reduced, they still do the same moral damage as usual.

Na, it was just a idea, that cover ~should~ give you morale. If you are hiding behind some stuff and shooting some guys on the field you should feel way better than those guys out there.

Bionics may be the answer to that, good point

Agreed, main advantage of trenches in real life was originally a morale boost.

I could have sworn one of the tool-top thingys that pop up when you go over cover is "-allows faster regeneration of morale".I guess it's wrong or something...

No, in real life it was not getting shot. And yes, getting shot less often helps morale.

BUT, read up on the Great War. You'll discover morale in the trenches was horrid. Absolutely horrid. Actually, trench warfare was one of the most demoralizing things ever invented.

Dont confuse the Great War trench stuff with heavy cover. Im not talking about sitting in cover for weeks and weeks and see your comrades die right next to you. Im just talking about 2 squads shooting each other. The guys in cover should "feel" way better.

yea it was 1 squad of space marines. 6 of em. no special wepons. I had a full squad but no upgrades and it was about 5-6 minutes into a game so i dont think he had many upgrades either. you think chaos space marines would be a bit more fanaticle or something.

I don't believe you. Post a replay next time that shows what happened.

Considering that Space Marines and their heresy bretherin both use the same weapons (ie: bolters), 6 Space Marines would not have killed your Chaos Marines outright. Chaos Marines do have less morale and will break long before Space Marines will, but in a firefight, killing enemy units boosts morale, while being shot at reduces it. Those are not exactly tradeoffs, but you would lose less morale than if you weren't shooting back at all thus delaying being broken.

Perhaps the Space Marines were being reinforeced while yours were not? Thats the only reason I can see for you losing that encounter.

Scouts have a larger range than sight radius (let alone marine sight) maybe you simply did not see them and they shot your marines with sniper rifles?
