    Impressive Matrix Trilogy Box Set

Someone at the Matrix Online forums mentioned coming across an upcoming Matrix Box Set. I figured there would be one, but I was expecting between 3 to 5 (if including 'Matrix Revisited' and 'Animatrix') DVDs. This set, called 'The Ultimate Matrix Collection', is coming out with 10 DVDs! Currently, it being sold at Amazon.com for only $55.94, due out in early December.

Agent Smith must have been a philosopher before he got into the business of killing Neo.

Good God that's massive. I probably am only going to buy the first one on DVD an that will be it. The other two were cool but not so good.

    Angent Smith was the best!

I think we've already seen all that the Matrix has to offer - these guys are beating a dead horse.

I mean, who's gonna bother to watch all those documentaries? Seriously - hypothetical situation: you just came back from work, you're beat, you're angry, you just want a relaxing hour in front of the TV. Do you put on Matrix DVD 6 to see the making of featurette #2 with special director's commentary? No, you switch to channel 12 and watch a rerun of the Simpsons, when suddenly BOOM, you realize that you blew a sizeable amount of money on 10 plastic discs that are sitting on the shelf, gathering dust.

Personally, I'd rather buy a big friggin crate of Mars bars. They make me happy.

Jesus christ! Seeing that much raw content makes me wish I was still a Matrix fan and could still extract any enjoyment from it.

The wackowksy brothers still owe me $50 for that POS enter the matrix. (Notice I didnt even bother to capitalize the title)
I had always planned to hold them to this debt, so aquiring this
huge set via a p2p client is something I find no personal moral objection to.

The entire Matrix fiasco should have ended with the first movie.

By attempting to detail and explain their world, the Wachowskis just showed how poorly concieved it was.

Yeah, especially the third movie. That final battle seemed very much like a rip off of DBZ (my stand corrected, it is a rip-off of DBZ )

It's not worth it. It would be worth it if the third movie wasn't crap. I thought the second was good (but not amazing like the first). Also, they used to have all sorts of philosophy on their webpage that you could read through. Warner Bros, or whoever would make more money, just wants to make more money.

    Those APU's are horribly stupid.

Who in their right minds would make an assault vehicle that has the pilot completely exposed to attack?

    EDIT:
The stooges even called it an "APU", Armored Personnel Unit, when the personnel is not even armored at all.

Yea, that's what's always buged me about the APUs. And the total lack of an EMP in Zion. Well, plot holes arn't exactly new in the Matrix.

Hopefully at the lake. Miss that place terribly in the winter.
This will sell to rabid must-have-everything Matrix fans. It's not the first time a franchise has been milked to death *cough* Terminator *cough*.

I mean, who's gonna bother to watch all those documentaries?
I'd be inclined to agree here. I rarely get through all the special features that ship with DVD's, even for the few that I own.

Question: If the humans could get any weapon and learn how to use anything, why not get tanks?

And, why not just upload a virus to weaken the Agents, but leave everything else how it is, or 'mod' themselves to be superbeings? I mean, if it's all in the mind, why not imagine yourself as a superhuman?

Meh, I thought Matrix Reloaded was a little dull, but I like Revolutions (mostly).

EDIT: I just noticed that in Revolutions, Neo says "You were right Smith. You were always right. It was inevitable."

It took me half an hour to realize he was referring to what Smith said to Neo in The Matrix during the subway fight.

I don't even understand bonus-feature discs, much less this extravaganza of extraneous crap.

Did my eyes decieve me, or was there a making-of making of?

The fight at the end was utterly worthless, I agree. Yes, the APUs were fun to look at until you realized what a stupid design they were. The reloading mechanism seemed the height of pantery too.

I agree with the APU design. I thought it was ugly, the design was crap (if the Sentinels have tentacles, why have it be open-topped? There's more than enough material to make a cover), and the reloading was stupid.

I also hated the drillers, and the butt-ugly face the Sentinels made at the end of the movie. I mean, wtf? Talking heads that buzz angrily? TBH, I think I only really liked the pretty explosions in the Dock, with the Sentinels swarming everywhere and the APU's shooting. Trying to explain everything in Reloaded (wtf, multiple Zions and The One's? ) was stupid, too. Along with the Animatrix.

Oh well, at least I can still enjoy the first.

Oh darn its a December release... i will be to busy playing half life 2 (still), halo 2 (still), and watching the 50 minutes of extended footage on the rotk dvd boxed set... and then of course is the holiday season and its just bad form to buy yourself anything around that time.. and then its 2005... which would just be too late imo to buy a matrix dvd.

Sorry W. Brothers... if only your marketing was better you could have had a sale.

They were just another one trick pony.. And if they'd had enough sense to just end it after the first one, then nobody would have known that.

    sad.

I think the idea behind the APUs is that they are an attempt to recreate tech from the height of human civ before they fell (from the Animatrix where they are all armoured up), reloading because they were probably not designed to have to fire constantly for 10 mins.

That said the refusal to release the directors cut of Reloaded is just stupid as it would actually make the film bearable.

Some special features are great like the LOTR ones and the Shaun of the Dead ones, its just the mass manufactured features ordered by studios to plonk on a dvd which are just 15 min bum licking adverts that give the rest a bad name.
