4th edition rulebook - how is it different than 3rd edition?

90% of the games I've played were 2nd edition. I played a few 3rd edition games and it just left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't know why but I just prefer the blatently complex and sometimes cumbersome nature of the 2nd edition (with dark milennium) rules.

So now this PC game comes out and re-kindles my interest in the TT game. I learn that GW came out with a 4th edition.

So...how exactly is the 4th edition different? What was improved over the 3rd edition?

At any rate, I'm coming out of "retirement" to play 2nd edition again if I can find anyone to play against! I still have every single vehicle, wargear, psyker, force, mission and strategy card from Dark Millenium!
Ultramarines, Orks, Chaos, Tyranids, IG, Daemons

another one eh... this game seems to be drawing alot back
2nd edition still way better than 4th
    1 hit= 1 kill on vehicles
    close combat made more useful

If your hungry for 2nd ed, go try out necromunda, its basicly small scale 2nd ed 40k, but without alot of the toys.

I'm in the exact same situation...I want to play again, but I really prefer 2nd ed. rules. You don't happen to live anywhere near Philadelphia do you?

If you don't like 3rd Ed, you probably won't like 4th either. Its more of a heavily tweaked version then an entirely new one.

Edorien - You can get one hit, one kills in 2nd, 3rd and 4th on vehicles.

so is it now officially known as 4th edition? I thought it was along the lines of 3.5 ed?

oh well, i have to say, the new edition is much better than 3rd. but you'll have to get your own rulebook, its that much better and worth it.
