    Kharakian Survivors

I was recently playing Hw sp over again and I was wondering were there any survivors on Kharak after the Atmosphere Deprivation Device was launched, because in the video its says approximate initial casualties 88% or something.

I would think that there would be 100% casualties after a short period of time if not immediately because:
    1. They destroyed the atmosphere so there's no air
    2. All food and water are destroyed (it was a desert planet, so there isn't much even without that huge fireball consuming the planet

Im just saying because itr didn't seem to effect the south of Kharak as badly and maybe some people could have survived in bunkers or something with supllies assuming they existed. Or maybe they didn't have to be on Kharak itself we read in the manual that there were numerous off planet mining stations maybe there were some people left there, I'm just bringing this up becuase there might be something in Hw2 about a distress call received on Hiigara from Kharak and they decide to go back and get them.

well that's true but that was immediate. Over time the atmosphere would be gone and there would be nothing stopping the radiation from killing them all. Also I seem to remember when the MS comes back from her outing they say something like "All orbital facilities destroyed".

what if a bunch of cryo trays were in bunkers, but were flung out in space, and over time awoke. when they awoke, they were aboard a turanic raider carrier, but theyy fought and conquered the ship. they came to Hiigara in 40 AL, and called themselves kiith Arkee

The mining facilities aren't going to be in orbit the manufacturing plants are the mining stations would be far off in the Kharakian asteroid belt or on one of the moons of the gas giant that was mentioned in cata.

Oh and Aradesh I think Baamir going to have something to say about that you know it completly going against his long (keyword=long) kiith history

Ok, I concede my point some might have survived in the other planets. Still that would make the taiidan empire look pretty sloppy as they were trying to commit genocide. If that's true I might need to change my nick...

Hey I already conceded this isn't a HW game. No need to press on to the MS :smash:
I think they let the exiles go to Hiigara because the Galactic Council was watching them. They knew that if they killed the Hiigarans than the GC would consider this a violation of some act and rally the troops against them. That's why they made the deal with the Hiigarans to never use their Hyperdrive again because they wanted them out of the picture. If the Hiigarans broke the deal then the Empire would be allowed to commit genocide because of the deal.

First of all the empire pulled all the stops out to make sure the Hiigarans didn't getto Hiigara the hyperspace inhibitors, headshot asteroid, Emperor himself at the final battle putting himself on the line, and remember this guy is one paranoid well person and has killed people for simply being related to him, let me ask you this have you completed Hw yet?

Secondly there was no deal made with the Hiigarans the ban on Hyperspace was enforced on them, like we'll let you live but your not alowed to use hyperspace if you do we going to kill you, no buts.

Yes I have finished HW many times. I'm just a lurker on the forums (I've been reading the posts for years now). From what I remember the Hiigarans made the deal with the Taiidan but forgot it over time (as well as their origins). The deal probably was just "Go and stay away or die".
When the Kharakians violated this "ultimatum" they were destroyed by the empire. The MS, however, got technology and forces so fast that the Empire couldn't destroy them immediately. By the time they got their forces there the Kharakians had gone into the nebula. When they came back out the had MBF's and MGC's plus the other stuff they got before the nebula. That's when the Empire got nervous and started pulling all it's forces back to Hiigara.

To try and stop them getting to Hiigara, if they were just going to let them get to Hiigara whats the point of pulling their forces back especially when they have a civil war going on.

Well they pulled them back to organize a defensive so the MS would have a hard time getting home. They wanted to kill all of the Kharakians but they didn't think they'd be able to.
The reason the Empire was having a hard time stopping the Kharakians from the beginning was because their forces were spread too thin. That's also what made the Civil War so effective. They couldnt just mass a huge force to stop the Rebels because they were spread out across all their forces. If they found one rebel they would try to kill him but wouldn't have the time or resources to chase him down.

The fact of the matter is the empire was destroyed by the Exiles killing the emperor and turning that sector of the galaxy into chaos for the next 10-15+ years.
