    Having trouble with 3v3/4v4 games?

So, is it just me or does anybody else find it darn near impossible to actually play a 3v3 or 4v4 game? I've spent roundabouts 10-15 hours online trying to either create or join such games and I think somebody has dropped from each and every one. There always seems to be lag and somebody always drops/gets kicked.

Now, before we talk about bad connections and make game name "cable only" or "no lag" or whatever, I'd like to point out that occasionally I'm the one that gets kicked! I don't really think it's my problem, but that's the topic of another thread/poll that I'm posting immediately after this.

Sooooo . . . What's your experience? Is it really impossible to get a good 6-8 player game going on, or is it always somebody hopping on with a crappy connection or a lousy computer? Do I have to join a clan or just find people who I know are reliable no-lag players?

    Be nice please . . .

Option one for me.. I've had a few laggy games but they are pretty much in the minority.. seems the biggest challenge to me so far is actually getting 6 to 8 people in the same game.. once it fills though everything is great..

Could be connection issues that are out of you or your ISP's control like if a hub three states away is under maintainance or broken.. It's very possible that the people your playing are really far apart and that will cause lagging or dropping under the right conditions.. you might also just have really bad luck and keep getting all the asshats in your games..

well i enjoy 3 on 3 or 4 on 4, think dropping is due to network problems. No dial-ups plz!

i played a game last night which had an almost constant lag... one guy was bitching about it constantly for about 10 minutes before he decided to quit.... turned out he was the one causing it, as the game cleared up after he left.

yes i remember.. gundam. i saw ur thread in the battle archives forums, the only time where space marines and chaos are neighbours is that time... u shld have used whirlwinds
    (off topic ends)
i kinda like it when someone quits when we are versusing coms, like hard setting.. cause we know that the person nearest to the battleline will get spammed by com's orks. the coms jus go for the person whu is closest and if ur teamate quits, gd luck =)

Have been fortunate (knock on wood) with not getting booted, other than by the odd Host. Aargghhhh...

Lag is something that just has to be dealt with. Really bad just means get out before the 3 min. window.

Dropping has begun to suck the Fun out of DoW. Had one ugly Drop Fest last night. I have never seen it so bad. I had to end one 3v3 game for a loss after my 2 allies both dropped.

I apologized to the other team before blowing my buildings. Don't ask me why I did, just felt bad for the other team I guess.

Leave the bleeding STATS server OFF. It is the only solution. Keeping numbers keeps the Droppers active. Nuke the Droppers! Nuke the Stats Server!

Sorry for ranting. It's that I just don't get it I guess...

Played three 3vs3/4vs4 automatch games, and so far all of them have ended in great success. All you need to do is your own part and hope others will do the same.

When it comes to custom games, about half of my games are 3vs3 or 4vs4, so it's not really that hard. You just need to be patient and shout at the lobby, if needed. And yes, there have been some unfortunate droppers every now and then.

It took us a while last night cos of the insane kick bug just tossing random handfuls of people out, but we finally managed to get a good run of games going with mostly the same crew of people throughout so there was a lot of banter and good teamwork. Finished with the single best game I have ever had so far with DOW, a 4v4 T&H on Lost Hope, where there were four victory countdowns, and quite possibly the largest battle I have ever witnessed, spanning two CPs and the entire space between them.

One thing we do to ensure the quality of games is we maintain a 'blacklist' of people who drop at the start of a game, and then just boot them if they join a later one. It might sound a bit harsh, but it definitely improves things and we generally have teams that never have any droppers.
