    Done that. The file is loadable and all vanilla DoW objects still appear in my map, however, all WA objects appear as pink boxes. To me it seems that I am able to create a new map as "Dawn of War: Winter Assault", but when I load the map to continue to work with it, it appear to change to "Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War". I believe this because all WA objects are unavailable from for example the object and decal lists.

    I just don't understand what the problem could be.

    Um.. im not sure if this is just a glitch or my entire mod tools are currupt but - i cant do anything on map editor. One iv put down 20 units (terrain, units, buildings, etc), it just stops working. Markers wont be placed, neither will osme units. THe heightmap doesnt work, and in general, everything on my mod tools (including the AE OE and everything) just wont work. Yes I have DoW, WA and yes i have patch 1.41 - it is impossible to have lagg or crashes with my computer (i have 29 MSN windows open, and WoW at the same time), so whats going on?

    Reinstall the mod tools, its slightly buggy, don't have other programs open at the same time as it.

    Map Editor

    Hi there, i am 100% noob to the map editing world, but i really want to give it a go, could yu please tell me how to get map editor. i have read the tutorial posted earlier and found it very helpful, the one problem being i dont know if i even have map editor. i would really appreciate some help.

    Thanks for making this thread cause it's awesome.

    But I got a problem with it. I opened the map in Winter Assault to get access to all the neat-o stuff. I saved it and played it, but when I open the file again, for some reason the editor loads the original Dawn of War tileset, and I can't see or use any of the Winter Assault stuff.

    What's up with that? Is there a way to fix it?

    Okay, let's try this again...

    IN THE GAME: All of the Winter Assault items load, but none of the original Dawn of War items load or even exist on the field.

    IN THE EDITOR: It's the exact opposite! For all Winter Assault pieces, they're pink boxes and big pink ? decals. But all of the Dawn of War stuff loads.

    WHAT I DID THE FIRST TIME: I built a 512x512 map, only put a few things in there and some of them don't show. I used the editor TWICE. The first time, I used both Winter Assault items, AND Dawn of War items. Only the Winter Assault items disappear into pink boxes when loaded. But everything thing shows in the game. More Specifically, I built a Cathedral on a hill, and some bombed out building to the right of that.

    THE SECOND TIME: I built a park next to the cathedral, across from the bombed out buildings. NOTE at this time, the winter assault items are unavailable to me, because all of the Winter Assault items are pink boxes. So I used only the Dawn of War items. NONE of them show up in the game, only the editor.

    I'd like to create a map worthy of the Map Pack dealy, but that's not gonna happen if the stupid map won't load right.

    So is making a map a one shot deal?
    Or is something wrong with my tools?

    Save it in the right folder, ie: WXP/Data/Scenarios/MP, not W40k.

    What should I do if when I press "OK" on the Size/Cell Size/Mod box the map doesnt come up and a box that says "Could not load selected mod dll (wh40k)"?

    You know the problem with the dawn of war tileset on the map editor?
    You have to save your maps under the 'WXP' files instead of the 'W40K' :eye: so you save it in WXP then 'data' 'scenarios' 'mp' and the textures will stay after re-editing

    In the mission editor when i opened it, it came up with a window called "Debug Window." Is this window meant to come up?

    Maybe i am blind but, which file starts the editor. I've installed the rdn tools and can't find it...

    Oh... in the start menu folder or in "Dawn of War\ModTools\ME" I tried this before but the editor crashed (so it crashed in the other way too... D'OH) - now trying the rdn 1.41... to be continued

    i try to save maps and i keep geting this message that basicly says it can only wright to the "root" folder of dawn of war (c\program files\THQ\Dawn of War).

    i am trying to save to c\program files\THQ\Dawn of War\DXP\data\scenarios\MP\ (map name)

    wut am i dont wrong?

    youre using the 1.41 ME with DC, try to DL the rif=ght ME, specifically the DC one.

    I have that problem too. I can;t hit okay so I can;t change the sky, fog, ect.

    2) How can I create a on top photo of my map to show in the map list?
    I have the same question. I can;t get it straight up; It's always at a bit of an angle. Also, how do I make an ingame minimap. And if I need photoshop for any of this, can I use this "GIMP"? Where can I get it?

    I have tried that. I can only change between 1024 X 746, 800 X 600. I run on 1024, if I change to 800 it's bigger. Is there anyway?

    Also, how can I make a direct top down pict?

    I know how to use the map editor to make skirmish matches, but I am confused about how to make a campaign/scenario. I have seen a link to a tutorial about this in this thread, but it simply does not work. Could someone please either post the tutorial in that link, or just post how to to make a map work in campaigns.

    For the moment you can't make a linear campaign for Dark Crusade( but it'll come soon...) the same way as Dow or Winter assault.

    You can try to replace the existent map of the metamap but importing the scar code and adapting it can be quite time consuming.
    this will only change the terrain not the scenario, to change the scenario you'll have to re-code the entire campaign from A to Z.

    or you can completly change the different mapo of the campaign, redesign each province on the metamap and have a new broad campaign. Huge tast but it has been done before.

    search for DowKingdom via ggogle or using the search function on these forums.

    alternative ways are...on their way.

    ok that worked

    now i have another problem. while scrolling around with the arrow keys, sometimes it never stops. as in, it always moves in one direction. hitting the key for the other direction stops that camera, as if they canceled each other out. by swiveling the camera, the movement changes with it. like if its moving backward, and i swivel the camera using alt, it still moves backward.

    if anyone knows how to stops this, i'd be pretty happy.

    I get the "stuck moving in one direction" thing too. I found to stop it you just press the same way again. So if the camera is going right, you press right. Pressing left for me stops the camera, but as soon as I let go it continues it's journey.
    It's annoying sometimes, but you soon stop noticing it.

    Latest version of Mission Editor software?

    Hi Guys
    I have downloaded the ME editor but some folks are talking about DC version.
    1. Is the latest version of ME 1.41 for DC?

    2. I want to use it on DC mainly, is modtools 1.2 the latest?

    3. Is there a difference between DC and DOW versions?

    4. Which web address is the main download site?

    5. Can I place walls anything other than horizontal or vertical?

    This software is superb and I want to get the most out of it!!

    I dont know anything about modding so i have a question. I got the DC mod tools and when you click new it says mod and you can pick 'Dawn of War: Dark Crusade' or 'Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War', whats the difference between them. Does it matter which one i use if im just gonna mess around? Because if i use Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War, it says 'could not load selected mod dll (w40k)' even after reinstalling it. DC works fine though.
    I was just wondering if it made a difference.

    Im not sure if this the right thread or not, but im having problems with the DC mod tools 1.2.

    1) My mod doesnt appear in game manager
    2) In mission editor, when i click on 'File>Play Scenario' - it just says

    'Error!

    Cannot fine game executable file!'

    Any ideas?

    1)make sure you got a mod_name.module file in your DC root folder.
    2) the function do not work from Mission Editor to DC...if you want to test/play the map you are working on, just save it in the ME then launch DC or whatever mod you are making the map for and search for your map in the skirmish menu.

    I have. Ive got everything and put everything in the right place. My folders are all correctly named etc...

    Yeah youre right about the ME (play scenario button) but my mod still doesnt show up :S

    However, when i open up a map in ME, on the Debug window - theres a line that says:

    MOD -- (mod manager) Falied to read field from MOD definition file 'Chaosmod.module'

    It must be something to do with that - but ive checked my .module file dozens of times, and its all in the right place and its all named properly :S - i dont understand!

    This happened to me once or twice, it happens when the UIName line inside the module file is too long.

    Yeah, just use a shorter name. I think there might be a limit of something like 32 characters for the UIName.
