    Raptors bolt pistol damage

    I think its a very big bug. Chaos raptors bolt pistol damage is overpowered vs "vehicle_low" and buildings. I saw it in a replay.
    Raptors killing wartrucks with their bolt pistol, firing in F7. This is the chaos_bolt_pistol_raptor.lua:

    First off you need to chase down the lines that the file inherits from the "chaos_bolt_pistol" file, that is most likely where you missing values are. Just for laughs I hunted down the entries myself and there might be something wrong. Looking at the inherited lines of code, the line:

    Is represented as both Vehicle low and Building low, I don't know how that would affect the game.

    Wartrucks have a low hitpoint total to begin with, 905 to be exact. I doubt it would take much fire power to burn through that amount of hitpoints. Doing a quick damage output calculation ((min+max)/2)(armor penetration/100), would put the Raptors at 4.23 damage per hit, a squad of 10 would be able to do moderate damage to the wartrukk before one of the Raptors dies. Two squads of ten Raptors and two Aspiring Champions would tear through a Wartrukk in no time; especially if they used bezerk.

    hardly a "very big bug". Id like to see the replay the OP is talking about to make sure that the game experience matches the theory. 20 raptors plus 2 aspiring champions killing a lone trukk isnt the kind of thing that would cause most people to make a bug report thread about...

    its more that raptors are quite cheap to make and reinforce
    and it would piss me off if a couple of raptor squads killed off my land speeders...

    Lets see, 20 raptors + 2 AC = 1850/40/4

    One Landspeeder = 350/120/2

    I would initialy think that this is not much of a problem, but since Raptors are not suposed to be ranged AV even in the slightest sense of the word I would want them to recieve a nerf to ranged AV damage. Leave their melee damage alone though.

    I dunno, if raptors aren't supposed to be Ranged in the slightest, then why is it they are given Heavy weapons, such as plasma. Food for thought, food for thought...

    Flamer and plasma arent heavyweapons, theyre specialweapons.
    And plasma+flamer are there for pursuits.

    I refer to them as heavy weapons since the heavy weapon increase upgrade at the armory allows the raptor squad to have more of them. I brought up simply because their SM counterparts get no such love (and one should take that into consideration when looking at the ranged damage they are given, as raptors aren't defunct ASMs).

    If you look closer you'll see this all doesn't really matter
    The important value is min_damage_value=4.
    That means the lowest possible damage is about 40% penetration, lower penetration means shit, it's overriden.
    It averages out to 4.25 DPS for Raptors which is about half of a normal SM/CSM which costs 50 req not 70. Still it's a bit too much for Raptors, I mean just compare them to Banshee pistols, who are less mobile among other things.
