    Taii Cruisers Test Mod (expansion of Vanaar-Jet mod)

    Welcome to the Taiidan Cruisers Test mod!




    Many of You eagerly await Requiem War releases. i cannot release the half-completed Taiidan, or Kushan, as they'll be released together, when both are complete. But to give all You RW fans something to play with, here are 2 Taiidan imperial heavy cruisers: The Vanaar-Jet, the advanced prototype of the next generation of imperial technology, and the Qwaar-Jet II, the uprated and refitted version of the beworshipped predecessor.

    The Qwaar-Jet II is hell of effective, try using her in a swarm of enemy strike craft/frigates. Here give a straight move order, not letting her turn towards the enemy. it looks simply majestic as she moves straight in the swarm towards the camera while firing at 3-4 enemies at the same time

    This "mod" is very simple. It features 2 ships, and their accompanying FX.

    When You installed this, easiest to play is: Select "Taiidan" from the race select screen. Then You start with 1 Vanaar-Jet and 1 Qwaar-Jet II. You cannot build anything or harvest. The ships have built-in hyperspace ability, like all Taiidan capital ships.

    -Select Vaygr as opponent when You want a weak enemy
    -Select Hiigaran when You want a strong enemy (it has 2BC-s and loads of frigates in it's starting fleet.

    If You have some nice screens, post them if You like!

    This mod features the Vanaar-Jet, and Qwaar-Jet II Class heavy cruisers of the Taiidan Empire

    Features:
    -2 classes of Taiidan heavy cruisers
    -special damage Fx
    -Custom main beam FX
    -HW1 sound FX for engines and weapons

    It misses:
    -Ship icons still not present

    Nothing is absolutely finished, everything may change.

    How to install:
    im not a computer guru, so i cannot stun You with .exe installers and stuff. Plus, i don't wanted to make a .big file out of this, cause then You couldn't alter starting fleets, add the cruisers into the SP campaign etc...

    So simply extract the archive, and put all the folders into Your HW2/Data directory. I talk of freshly installed HW2/Data, it can cause overwrite conflicts if You try to install it above an already present mod...

    Without extra permission from me:
    You can do with it what You want, as long as it's for Your own enjoyment, such as:
    -putting the ships into the SP Campaign (i did that:-))
    -Adding it to any of Your races' starting fleets
    -basically put it in any situation in HW2 that You want.
    -alter it's stats as You want

    You are NOT allowed to:
    -re-release the Vanaar-Jet, Qwaar-Jet II or any of it's files as Your own. Even if You altered them. Even if You're sure You made them better as they were.
    -Use it or any of it's components (accompanying effects) in Your mod or any other project.
    -Under NO circumstances are You allowed to extract/alter the model and textures of the ships. That's copyright of only ME (even the ship design)

    i don't wanted to be harsh, but all of You know, that ripping things off sucks. You can't believe how much i hate this copyright/legal stuff, but it must be done as there are always people who don't respect other's time and energy put in his work.

    If You want to use it in Your mod/incorporate it in any some larger project, contact me. If You convince me, i may give permission, but i may also refuse it! i want to know where my ship is going:-)

    i really hope You like them, and will enjoy devouring the enemy with them!

    there is nothing wrong with tinkering with it though? as long as we keep it to ourselves?

    personally i think it should have a sajuuk beam right in it's triangular forward cannon there

    BTW, what shall I do in order to allow custom ships to build in singleplayer (e.g. the Needleship)? I was toying around with this but wasn’t able to find anything...

    Here is how You can import it into the SP campaign. You cannot make custom ships buildable, (except with excessive scripting that would make a new thread) just import them manually into some missions starting fleet, and from that on You can carry it with You until the end of the game.

    If you have only 1 profile:

    Homeworld2\Bin\Profiles\Profile1\Campaign\ASCENSION\persistX.lua

    X means the number of mission. Lowest number is persist2.lua i think. This stores what ships (and tech) You carry over to the next mission. Scroll down to where you see ship entries like this:

    Save it, and on the mission it refers to You should have a Vanaar-Jet hypering in with your fleet. And if you don't loose it, You'll be carrying it to the next mission.

    hmm, enterprise-E, have you any link to any tutorial which would allow me to create a new race?

    i believe you have created the taiidani race in this mini-mod, and wish to gain the knowledge on HOW.

    impressive ship i must say, rivals even the stock HW2 ships.

    OK...
    I have other little problem... What parameter shall I use to run the mod at all? It seams to ignore all its files without a parameter... I forgot what shall I do (It's just too long ago, that I had a mod without a .big file. ) and I can't find anywhere an appropriate readme or instructions. ...or shall I just reinstall HW2?

    EDIT: Hell, found it at least in the PDS thread (-overridebigfile)!

    Heh i added it to the PSD 5.2 line up, to big for the SY but it hypers in well. Quite a nice ship for the VGR, had to add some EMP shields n make a few adjustments but it works quite nice. I luv those new effects, it's about time some one got around to making new effects for HW2. They helped improve the original HW a hundred fold & i expect that once weapon effects become more popular that similar leaps in the graphic "wow" factor will continue in HW2. Any chance of a red effect ?

    How can I get the Vanaar-Jet and MBFs into the game at one, without extracting the MBF form the rwkadesh.big file or importing the Vanaar-Jet into a .big?
    Or then how to import/export them?

    you have to contact E-E about you wanting to splice up his mod.

    then you have to get all weapons, art, fx's etc. corresponding with the ship files INTO the kadeshi mod.

    then you should parse the build, weaponfire and all kinds of scripting files into the kadeshi mod.

    rather tedious i might say.

    Hehe not too tedious for me, I happen to be quite good at splicing. btw he said that you may splice at free will as long as it's for your own enjoyment.

    You can edit the Vanaar-Jet, as long as You don't modify it's model, texture, or any graphics/sound that comes with it.

    Ok. I tried adding the Vanaar-Jet into PDS, and the game loaded up fine. So i decided to build one, but once it hypered in the game crashed. Any ideas?

    It's missing repair points, I put it in the SP campaign for kicks and the collectors just follow it around instead of fixing it when you tell them to repair.

    Other than that it rocks, I love the old style HW1 kinetic sound effects and the new ion effect you put in.

    It did not die because Kenahk left...
    It's a HW2 era imperial heavy cruiser. Not exclusively for the Taii Rep mod, the design existed even before that mod.

    Ent i am srry to say it fizzled out becoz kenahk left,true the vaanar-jets probably older then me(Jok)but it is got at least 1 1/2 years.
    Anyways i am having a slight problem with this mini-mod,it won't work any way i try to make it,overrider big or any other comand that i could think of didn't work,i removed all mods then tryed again,nothing,ent can u help me?oh and i would very much like a modification for mission 2 of the HW2 campaign add the vaanar-jet as a player ship(just it being there at the start of a mission)thats all i would wish(if u can man send the modified mission script for mission 2 thro e-mail).

    The modeling, skinning, and detailing of this ship is just plain NICE!

    Those new ion cannon grapics are smooth too. Bit heavy handed though, 18k attack rating, killed the enemy MS in 2 shots

    Question: Will the Vanaar-Jets Ion cannons eventually be modeled as subsystems so that they can be "knocked out" similar to the Hiigaran BC Ion turrets

    EDIT: on a side note. Ever play around with increasing the graphics speed on the ion cannons? If the swirled moved forward really really really really fast, it could make a nice electric effect.

    nice looking ship!

    hey, sorry for being a pain, but what is there to extract? I am not used to all computer stuff and haven't been here long. I have used HW2 mods before, even ones that are not packaged, but I don't know what to do with the RAR File. I even did the -overriedBigFile trick. Help please :blink:

    i imported the vanaar jet into homeworld 1 after a bit of jiggery pokery. i might post screenshots, but in complience with intelectual copyright, and not wishing to annoy ent-e (because i know he's possesive about his stuff, i know i would be) i won't be posting a link to download it.

    heheheheee! tweaked the ship a little (speed and regeneration :P) and finished SP with 3 of them and no supporting fleet :P Btw how can i change radiation damage? the hulk radiation in one level ate my lovely vanaar jet in a few seconds


    EDIT: my 3 vanaar jets holding 9 battlecruisers and supporting fleet alone in the thaddis level....ahhhh

    The Vanaar-Jet has a strong possibility of being adopted into the PDS mod. It needs some armament modifications, and it has been approved by Tel'Quessir. Nothing too serious I should think.

    Here is what i promised in the Requiem War thread:
    The Vanaar-Jet mod got expanded, and now includes the Qwaar-Jet II too.



    The Qwaar-Jet II is an uprated version of the original Qwaar-Jet from the Homeworld war. She's quite a monstrously effective multi-targeting ship, as she has 2 extra ion cannons that can be turned 360°.

    My favourite is as she fires backwards, destroying some pursuing frigates:


    And here the Qwaar-Jet II is killing 2 Vaygr production ships at the same time!!! (they both died and the QJ II not even had to turn)

    Ent-E, that last image is just badass. I can almost imagine Makaan with this "WTF!...oh shit!" look on his face as BOTH the flagship and the shipyard go down at the same time.

    This is great stuff. When RW comes out with a full release of all races (I can't wait for Somtaaw vs Vaygr or the like, bwhahaha) I am SO getting itt. If this is what you've got for a mini-mod, the full mod should just kick ass.

    My only concern is gonna be what the other races will have to come up with to combat a ship that powerful.

    Those turreted Ions are way too much fun, it's hilarious waypointing it through the middle of a Frigate cloud and watching them pop like balloons as it plows into them, then they all turn to follow it and keep dying while trying to shoot at it. QJ2 doesn't hold a candle to the VJ in terms of pure firepower, but QJ2 is definitely more versatile.

    Could you please put the mod files in a zip file as everytime I try to extract the files the only file that gets extracted is the .txt file and nothing else and I'm using unregistered verison of WinAce.I have other rars but they extract fully except another one which I can't understand also only extracts the txt file.

    Thanks very much, im happy You like my ships.

    The original Qwaar-Jet will only be available in Requiem War. i released the Qwaar-Jet II as a compromise. So people can play with something close to the HW1 Taii Heavy cruiser, and i still dont have to spoil Requiem War.

    The original vanilla beworshipped Taiidan Qwaar-Jet heavy cruiser will only be available in Requiem War.

    Maxdamage: ger WinRAR, that should solve your problem.
