I agree, relic did a great job at balancing. It's just that the good players all chose eldar for some reason and left us mediocres with SM/Ork/Chaos ^.^

No seriously. This is a good thread and we should try to keep the flaming low. Lets just concentrate on the upsides, like Unisystem (aqwerty) being the latest 'top' eldar claiming that he can bring chaos to top 20 or top 10 or something to prove that he isn't just abusing the most op race

Apparently he has played 5 games and only lost once so far, that being to an eldar who turreted his beach on DMC ^.^

The balance team just really needs to reconsider releasing a patch like this one. Not flaming in anyway, but I'm not going to kiss but either.

I guess if we wanted to flame someone, we could flame all the Eldar for just being better than us, as Relic would put it.

A patch isn't likely with WA comming soon. Too much money, too little benifit for Relic. I'm sure they know we will all buy WA regardless of a 1.4, any fan base doing this much complaining obviously likes its game. So if we like it, we will buy it, making 1.4 nothing more than a losing propsition for relic. If they make another patch, it still won't be perfect, and whole new problems will arise. So potentially they could lose money while making the game WORSE, which given the risk to benifit ratio seems unexceptable for a company looking to profit (which all businesses need to do).

Unlike some, I'm ok (though not totally happy) with waiting for WA to fix things.

The real question is, WILL there be changes in WA to fix things or are they balancing IG around the races, as they are now? In other words, will WA just slap down a new race and new units with out addressing current problems?

Relic said they have made a number of large changes to many units to fit in the IG. So, it probably means old problems wont be problems anymore, and new problems will arise.

Unlike some, I'm ok (though not totally happy) with waiting for WA to fix things.

I'd have agreed with you if we were still on 1.2. As things stand now, I see too many "no chaos" games (though they were present during 1.2), plus I feel somewhat unable to utilise my fave unit, because I dislike "I win" buttons and it's not worth the abuse that's often a result of using them.
Even ignoring the balance issues, I seem to have more trouble getting in to games since the patch, which is a shame.

1.2 was probably better balanced than 1.3. Given the choice, I would go back to getting FP lamers every other game, at least then I lasted beyond the initial guard rush. Nerfing scout dmg rather than reducing squad sizes was a remarkably stupid move given that the guard rush leading to SS uberguards was very hard to defend anyway.

Not everyone used scouts to rush with, unfortunatley no-one realised they were an important factor in defending rushes too. Hell, even slugga rush got much harder to deal with.

Well, we're not getting another patch. According to a mod on another thread, Relic's official stance apparently mirror's Tranz's - the patch is balanced as Relic intended it to be, and we're all whiners if we can't handle defilers levelling our bases in under 30 seconds or warp spiders eating ten times their cost in Boyz.

Tranj said Relic believed it to be balanced, but there was a caveat that they would make further changes if needed.

In other words, there's no definitive "yes" OR "no" to future patches, at the moment.

Just not necessarily before WA ships. It really depends on how much resources they have.. for example they could release a patch which has many of the changes to the units we have now for the WA (which is work they're doing anyway for the WA), however that might not be practical if it relies on new units, or other game play changes of various kinds that may be happening in WA.

I've been lead to believe that Relic is a rather small (though talented) company which is why I assume there resources are rather limited, and working on WA, and CoH.. sounds to me like it should be taking up most of there resources (I mean giants like Bioware and Blizzard only work on 1-3 games at a time ) It might however, be part of working on WA, and so they could release a patch then with relative ease.

Chaos is moving up and is now seen as an equal to Space Marines, both having 8.

Orks lose a spot, and are barely hanging in there with 2.

TE is pushing for the top, as Select has to fight him off. It's interesting that Select and Select2 maybe the same person, and eclipser and eclo may also be the same person. That would mean that 2 people are holding 4 of the top 10 spots! TmG still holds the lead with 7 accounts in the top 50, whereas TE has 6. It looks to be an interesting battle forming up!

a lot of the top 50 eldar accounts are smurfs.

IAmSmurf or whatever is [OoE]Thor... the other [OoE] account in top 50 (Rockz) is also his accounting for 3 top 50 chaos accounts. TE|Youlian is SM/Chaos player but listed as chaos because of a few more games there. Khayotic is random/Chaos... looks like sleign might have gone back to playing chaos more then random on that account ^.^. Starterkit is Chaos/Orks/Eldar but shown as chaos. Actually I think that RUW_Foozy and Thor is the only ones with pure chaos accounts in top 50 right now.

Don't worry guys- when Ork learns about this power-teching maybe things will change. A little (like 5 Orks in the top 100? Maybe?). To correct some problems people are having with smurf names, Jiav = inF|Xar = AriXar, and he plays 100% Eldar competitively. He only plays SM in custom so yes, Eldar has swept the top 10. Furthermore, Lufy = LeeSoonShin = [4R]Lee_S_S = Roronoa_Zoro. Yep, that's right, 4 smurf names for one guy. Zoro, Lufy, and Lee are all one guy; it's some Korean who wishes he was as gosu as SeleCT (and thus plays 24/7) but really can't cut it at the top ranks. Thus, he just lodges more and more names into the low 20/30's in hopes of becoming better. Regardless, I think the Eldar domination is complete.

Um, jeantend, Ari|Xar is not skilless. Charlie and ari play at a very similar level of style and skill, you need only watch jiavs work against eldar. Generalise and you need a slap as there are skilled eldar. Ari just got sick of the eldar domination in the ladder, as have many good players and now plays eldar because it's the only thing that can really compete.

The last list's split was 27/12/7/4, so what we see is Eldar gain 3, Space Marines lose 1, Chaos lose 1, and Orks lose 1. We are at a 3:2 Eldar to Non-Eldar ratio.

eldar is my best matchup right now so I wont whine about eldars ^.^ I would much rather whine about the other races because those who play them actually knows how not to make mistake, unlike the eldar hoes who does the same things over and over again and makes plenty of mistakes for me to capitalize on :P

Probably the same thing I notice. Most Eldar players mass guardians, rush, build some reapers have a massive advantage after than. If you manage to weather the storm, a lot of them don't know what to do after that.

I figure Chaos has a much better chance of fighting off Eldar due to CSM massing and your slowing hero. Of course, there is always the chance that BSs will hop in, kill your heretics, wraith tomb the barracks, guardians + FS slaughter the Cultists and you'll never get a single decent unit out.
