Homeworld Simple

just wanted to announce and see if anybody wants a "simplified" version of homeworld as a mod...
the thing I had in mind was something with alot less ships, everyone having a very defined duty and usage.
if we'll take the vaygr fighters, for example, there will only be two fighters available and the lance fighter will be dropped,
although the vaygr won't be "vaygr" anymore in the end (something like red vs blue, not vaygr vs hiig).

currently the mod will be very small (some very simple script editing and stuff like that)
but as people, experience and ideas come along the mod will get more and more polished (new models, vfx & sfx).

tell me what you think, and if you want to help.

forgot to say that this is my first mod ever
and I only have a somewhat limited programming expirience,
so any kind of help will do...

sounds somewhat intresting but your going to have to be able to get this started yourself before ppl join on.

but this does not sound that hard to do..

It may be worth a try but i donno.. HW2 is pretty simple as is. Though im a biased PDS player.

@evillejedi:I don't think you quite got the notion of the mod.
it doesn't have anything to do with hw, or any other thing.
the intention is to create a simpler, arcade style game experience.
at first it would only be a modification to the default hw2,
but in the end everything will be replaced (with some things removed)
in order to make the mod what it's intended to be.

as an example, the interceptor will be more distinct (even exaggerated) in terms of design and stats.
it would prbably look fargile and sleek, and with very small gun\s.
it doesn't sounds good on paper but in action it will be.

and just to make it clear, the simple doesn't means the mod won't have cool or new things in it.

You won't find idle modders around here. Meaning most capable people are doing things of their own and arn't looking to join a modding team. You will need to do 80% of the work or more on your own.

Learn how to use Maya 3 or 5, texture and script, or at least 2 out of 3 things there if you want to have a chance of doing this mod.

another thing I wanted to make clear is that the mod won't be going fast.
I understand that I'll have to do alot of stuff on my own, but that's ok, for now.
and anyway, I don't want to start with something too immense (it's my first mod after all...).
