Weird problem with research ship

I have 3 research ships, but ever since they took some damage (but weren't destroyed) during a battle, only 2 of them show up in the research manager, #1 and #3...#2 (the middle one) is missing, even though all 3 are accounted for...anyone else have any weird problems like this?

yeah, ive had them break up when i give them move orders but never just dissapearing,
