    Gilligan finally escapes the island - Bob Denver, 70, dies.

    I remember reruns of Gilligan's Island as a staple of my younger years. It was arguably the dumbest, most unforgiveable, lowest-common-denominator-appealing show on television - but what young kid back then didn't wish his mom could look more like Ginger... .

    "Just sit right back and hear a tale,
    a tale of a faithful ship..."

    I think the WORST thing the show ever did was inspire Survivor... :yech:

    Adios, Bob.

    (...and Mary Ann was cuter. The Professor should have invented Viagra - dumbass.)

    Well, good luck on your next three hour tour little buddy. And that professor really was a dumbass. He could build a coconut radio but couldn't fix a hole in a boat, despite the fact that there was plenty of lumber on that island.

    Little buddy?

    No, I remember watching that show every weekday at 9 am during the summer. When it was over I did some chores then went out to play for the day, it was actually part of my routine.

    And Mary Ann WAS prettier than Ginger.

    Never seen it, not bothered, but, when someone dies and they've touched the lives of others, i guess its only fitting i put in a word.

    Jam.

    Heh, Survivor was naff, there was another british program called Castaway, before survivor and stuff, still reality television of naff, but, more watchable, because there wasnt a prize fund, or tasks, they were dumped on the island and simply left there with a film crew or something.

    Maybe in heaven he can escape the whole gilligan thing...

    i think the generation I'm part of (80s/90s) would be amongst the last to enjoy these old series as kids...I remember watching Gilligan, Flinstones, Jetsons, and even Yogi all during a "retro" lunch period at summer camp.

    it really saddens that there will never be shows like that made again.

    Ah, Gilligan's Island. The only place where you could make a nuclear reactor with a coconut and a car with banana leaves, but couldn't fix a hole in a boat.

    I know it makes you wonder does it? Such a smart and talentid man like the Pro. not being able to fix the boat with the help of two sea men, and two single well curved women to help. I do wonder. ;}
