Clash of the Titans : Nightbringer vs. Khorne

    So then, which will win??

My money is on Khorne, though my necon playing buddy would disagree...

the reason why i voted night bringer is because its a living embodyment of a god, while a bloodthirster is just the embodyment of a gods minion

Um...and what is the point of this?

    this is a no-brainer...

    1) one of the star gods themselves. so powerful that they enslaved an entire race to do their bidding, as well as creating some races, between snacking on stars. requires a living metal shell.

    2) a mere minion of a god. lives only to kill, but can't be sustained in the material universe for any real amount of time outside of battle. requires a powerful host as a sacrifice.

granted that the c'tan can't survive in the warp at all, but none of the real action is there anyway...it is pretty clear that were the two face to face on the battlefield, the bloodthirster wouldnt be there very long. have you even tried pitting a nightbringer against a bloodthirster? roll the dice right now. 9 times out of 10, nightbringer wins.
    it's been a while!

Moneys on Khorne. Especially if the bloodthirster is the FW bloodthirster (with its rules).

Now scottb, do you actually have the new FW update? Or are just assuming because it is big that it has special rules?

Because up until now the FW BT used the same rules as any other one.

Who said anything about the bloodthirster fighting?
This is Khorne versus the Nightbringer.
I think the point of this question is who would win between the ACTUAL Khorne God and the Nightbringer. I'm pretty certain if he meant the Bloodthirster he would have said so!

If thats the case then khorne hands down....

    This is pointless, however....

By comparing their rules and statlines it is fairly obvious that the C'Tan can easily kill a bloodthirster. The main reason being that it wounds far more easily and allows no save, even if it doesn't hit that often. It has also got one more wound. Moreover, on the table the nightbringer can start inflicting wounds at range, while the daemon must engage in CC.

Since this is turning into a ramble, I might as well express my disappointment with GW for creating models for the C'Tan. They are supposed to be gods, old as the universe itself. There is no way to create rules for the game that will even start to reflect their abilities, as presented in fluff. The C'Tan have devoured Eldar gods during the war in the heavens, giving them a statline just reduced all that "greatness" into a point-sink and a fire magnet. They should just leave them be, or allow "minions" or minor manifestations of them on the table, in much the same way that greater daemons are minions of the chaos gods.

A friend at my local GW club has the model and the rules, lets just say the rules are very nasty. Go here for the book, its IA update 2005. It even has its own name An`ggrath the unbound. :insane:

doohicky, the poll said 'a greater daemon of khorne'
the most common greater daemon of khorne, and the only one with 40k rules being the bloodthirster, it seems fairly obvious that it was meant to be bloodthirster vs. nightbringer.

Indeed, simple because the Nightbringer is better in all but three ways: Initive, Weapon Skill, and Armour. The Deamons armour doesn't matter, Weapon Skill isn't as important as a lot of people think (You usually hit on fours, no matter the difference, csometimes in really unfair fights fives. And never better than three's). And mobility, which really only means the 'Thirster can die quicker.

In every other conceivable way, The Nightbringer whups the Deamons arse in multiple ways.
Honour can be regained. Lives cannot. The one is not worth the other.

It IS stupid, but people need a stupidity thread every now and then or they put their stupidity in places it shouldn't be.
