total n00b question that i couldn't find the answer to -- answered!

I'm looking to use Homeworld 2 for machinimational purposes [cf. Rooster Teeth Productions], and I was wondering if there was a way to copletely remove all in-game feedback for recording purposes. I know the backspace button clears the UI, but I really want the little green circles and health status bars to go away permanently. If anyone knows anything, even if it's just something temporary, I'd really appreciate some help.

I read most of the new user FAQs pretty extensively, but it's entirely possible that I just plain old missed this topic somewhere along the line, and if that is the case I apologize in advance.

Cycle the tab button, I think that removes all info.. Not sure.

"Sanity... Now why would I want an annoying thing like that?"

I look forward to the end results!

Hmmm...maybe fiddle with the files and remove the bars entirely? Maybe there will be lines you can delete dictating what speech a unit uses. Afraid those are just ideas though, not sure how to execute.

Hitting the tab button twice removes all the info...this is the only way i like playing the game.

Thanks, all! I feel pretty stupid now; I figured it would be the kind of thing you'd have to remove from the game manually. I'll be sure to post (or link) the end results. We've got a pretty big story put together and we're using Halo 2 as well. (I know, ripoff city...) Should be interesting, at least.

Okay, so I've gotten rid of the boxes and whatnot, except that they still show up when the mouse moves over the ships, as well as the healthbar. Is this a permanent game fixture, or can it possibly be modded out? I've done some small code adhustment for Homeworld 2, but nothing so extensive as to lead me to my own conclusions about this. I hadn't realized the tab trick, which is fairly straightforward in game stuff, but if I didn't think there was modding involved, I would have posted on the HW2 regular boards. Anyone have any advanced tips?

Well you could go through all of the *.ship files and change the ships' displayed names to "", change their TOIcon to a blank icon, and I'm not sure about how to get rid of healthbars but I think evillejedi did some work with those at some point.

If you can find a way to release a mod that gets rid of all the UI I will be most happy to apply it to my mods in private releases. I wished the same thing when I was recording my promo movie for my mod.
