you wouldn't believe how many times i saw the HW1 heavy cruiser's names misspelled, like Quar-Jet, Qwarr-Yet, Avitar etc.. Vanaar-Jet too but that's not canon :-)

People really misspell "beam" or "engine?" Good God!

I think people misspell "can you do this for me?" and "what is this reading thing everyone talks about?"

Modern nuclear weapons include both fusion and fission types, Zatch. It'd probably be easier to say that a fission type weapon is similar to a nuclear power plant.

    Interesting thread.
And about Taiidan... some thoughts of Jaen:

If you refer to certain person of Taiidan origin you say Taiid.
If you refer to a group of people of Taiidan origin you say Taiidi.

If you refer to Taiidan nation you say Taiidan.
Taiid means a clan for sure, but also refers to a person of Taiidan origin.
Taiidan means, in free translation, people structured into clans.

And well, you can as well ignore it

you most likely have already seen "crusier" and "cruser" appear a lot of times. Though the first is most probably a typo, at least i unwillingly do it a couple of times.

I think people misspell "can you do this for me?"
    Heh, nice one :-))

Or perhaps I was just testing everyone :dolt:

There is a world of difference between acknowledging that spelling is something one struggles with and having a cavalier attitude that spelling does not matter. You acknowledge a difficulty, but you also recognise the importance of accuracy and have demonstrated a wry witticism in the process.

I'd just like to insert my input on this one...

If you refer to a person or a group of people of Taiidani origin, you say they're Taiidani.
Taiidan is the name of the nation, like China or Russia.
Taiidani is of the Taiidan nation, like Chinese or Russian.

Just wanted to note that "gimbal" is an acceptable "real" spelling of that word, but gimble is not.

The recommendation *cough* on l33t is a bit harsh.

Indeed, that was why I mentioned "gimble" because although it is a spelling which is specific to HW2 modding.

    Well pointed out though.

    Thanks everybody, first post updated.

Also, @Sastrei: any more examples? I know I use a few of the spellings interchangeably but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

Oh and I toned down the 1337/netspeak "recommendation" a bit.

    "Gattling" is one of them.

Confusing the words defence and defense (noun/verb) is another.

    Sorry If I am a little nitpicky but;

Sajuuk-Khar isn't that a term for the "holy people" or something like that.

The vaygr thought it was them but in the end it turned out to be the hiigarans?

    Anyway good sticky

  43. #43
Sajuuk-Khar means "The Chosen of Sajuuk". It refers to the person who controls Sajuuk. (Karan/Makaan)

I thought i should point out that "Taiid" or "Taiidi" are never used in the games. It's always either Taiidan or Taiidani, so i'd say Taiid and Taiidi are fanon.

The plural of Kiith is Kiithid. (source Cata manual)
