Starting Total War: Armageddon, like some teammembers to help!

Starting Total War: Armageddon, like some teammembers to help!

I'm starting up work on the mod Total War: Armageddon, Total War Winter Assault: Armageddon, W40K Armageddon, and Winter Assault: Armageddon. These mods are designed to add all of the new race mods into the game, under one roof. Did you ever want to battle the Tau against the Space Marines? Tyranids vs the Chaos? Orks vs the Necrons? Or Tau vs Tyranids vs Necrons vs Steel Legions? If they're making a race mod for it, it may find itself here.

To those who are making a race mod, I would like your race mod added to this. Your team will get full credit, and will be in the module file as a seperate install. Anyways, to hook up all of these mods together is to me a fairly simple task. But as I want to create my own race mod, the Sons of Mechanicus Space Marines, which is a chapter I created myself, which based on a forgeworld. Their goal is to find the long lost Imperium technology that has been forgotten over the millenia, such as plasma cannons, Dreadnoughts, Terminator armour, and the like. They invented the Land Raider Devastator, an anti-supertank vehicle, redescovered the secrets of the Dreadnought, and are working on Terminator armour.

Once the mod tools are released in about a week's time, I need help with making this new race, with porting my existing 'kitbashed' units into the race, as well as some existing races. I will also need some help putting the mods together in a timely fashion, and then I need some testers to finish it off. A list of kitbashed units I've done are below, with pictures of them.

Anyone interested in helping me out? I've been doing this mod solo since just after Dawn of War was originally released, and I would like some help to bring this into the next level, as the things I wish to do with this mod are beyond my current skills.

    --------
    Pictures:

    Land Raider Devastator (Original Design)

    Razorback

    Land Raider Helios

Gryphonne IV pattern Heavy Bolter Chimera

    Lemun Russ Demolisher

    Lemun Russ Turret Emplacement Upgrade

    Flamer Emplacement Upgrade

    Earthshaker Platform

Please Note: Yes, some of these have different colours (turret red while body green, etc. However, inside the army painter, my hypothesis is that they'll change colours to whatever race colour is selected, so this shouldn't even be an issue in game.

Second Note: Yes, the Land Raider Devastator's two rear barrels are currently aiming into the front two barrels. Normally, the rear ones will be facing towards the rear, unless it's attacking a target to the side, which then it can converge up to a point in the scripting to prevent the barrels from shooting into one another. With this setup, the Devastator should be able to target one vehicle with three twin-linked lascannons at once, which is why it was designed as a super-heavy tank hunter.

nice...but nearly all model already exist in some mods...
Also, I see a problem in overpowering one race.

plus the cannon on the leman russ looks uglier than a mutilated hobo.

but i gotta admit that those turrets are cool, and your hack jobs are pretty good.

EDIT: i want that helios NOW.

Like Maestroroberus already said, many of the models you've done are in a race mod or another. Example: HB chimmie, 'shaker and demolisher are both in HRM.
I also think someone already made the Helios model (as well as the crusader... don't remember).
    The overpowering point is good.
The Dev Land Raider is also a bit... meh. 5 twin linked lascannons??? How about leaving the two original ones where hey were, add the pintle mounted multi-melta (like the Crusader has) and replace the twinlinked assault cannon with a twinlinked plasma cannon.
    Variation is purty, you know?

P.S. I assume you want the flamer/battle cannon turret to replace the HB/ML ones, right?

The cannon on the Demolisher in the model and in your version are really ulgy,i can't believe i'm going to say this...PLEASE KEEP IT.

For some reason it makes the tank look good.

Do you think you could make it look just like the model on the right, turret and antennae?

Also is it possible to give the Orks at least one more tank?

I wanted the Orks to have more tanks but one more would be nice.

I would like to help you with the mod but the only thing i know how to create is new sounds and new textures for maps.

Maestrorobertus: Also, I see a problem in overpowering one race.
Technically yes, but no. The reason is because I'll also be introducing new defenses for the other three sides, or else boosting the HP and stats of the existing ones. I'm trying to make the game more defensive friendly, as I know there's quite a few people that hate this game's style of gameplay. I myself am generally a turtler.

NewGhost: plus the cannon on the leman russ looks uglier than a mutilated hobo.
I agree, it's my least favorite kitbash. I'll be making a revision to it soon.

Adamstrange: I wanted the Orks to have more tanks but one more would be nice.
I have terrible texturing skills, so if someone wants to make an Ork skinned Predator or something, then help me out. I only got away with the Helios was because of copy and paste.

Like Maestroroberus already said, many of the models you've done are in a race mod or

P.S. I assume you want the flamer/battle cannon turret to replace the HB/ML ones, right?
First of all, I didn't know that they were already included. But anyways, I just wanted to add a few extra units that wouldn't take a huge amount of effort.

    Secondly, the turrets. After building the base turret, you can choose between three different upgrades: missile, flamer and lemun russ. Obviously the Lemun Russ turret will be quite expensive;

I'd say half the price of a Lemun Russ, as well as requiring the Tier 3 HQ should suffice, so you can't overly spam those types of turrets, unless you are a very defensive player, which is exactly what I'm trying to help with in this game; make it defendable by any way shape or form.

On a side note, the Earthshaker platform will be both a Tier 3 upgrade, a Tier 3 requirement, and cost the same as an Basilisk. The advantage of having an Earthshaker turret based is that it can aim quicker than the Basilisk, and you can have more than 3. But as I said, expensive, and requires top-end tech. It should also be allowed to fire Earthshaker rounds, but cost the same as the Basilisk's version. Translated, I mean you have to upgrade the turret twice (bolter>missile>earthshaker), need the second highest tech level (or maybe even requiring Full Scale War), and be fairly weak to damage.

Now, to add to the overpowering bit, I have planned for a Chaos Twin-Linked Lascannon upgrade, and a possible twin-linked asssault cannon turret upgrades, to help their notoriously weak defenses. As for the Orks, I can't think of any new ideas, so if you have any ideas, let me know. Same applies for the Eldar.

EDIT - I can't find the model to the Chaos turret emplacement. Can someone give me a hand with that?

And finally, the Land Raider Devastator. I'll explain at the bottom of this post.

    ----

Tyconius: Are you intersted in adding your Dark Eldar mod to the list of race mods that my Armageddon series of mods will include? If you aren't the mod leader, then pass it on.

Scorpia: Feel free to MSN me at thelegacy@gmail.com.

    ----

From people's reactions, the Land Raider Devastator is said to have too many Lascannons. Let me explain, from my chapter's point of view, why it was created.

Techpriest/Chapter Master Mechanicus - "The Land Raider Devastator was brought into His service as a powerful weapon to counter some of the new heavy tanks that the Xenos have been deploying against our forces in our Crusades, and defense. Although the Imperium of man has no lack of heavy tanks, the Space Marines themselves, have been missing a proper counter against these behemoths, such as the Eldar Scorpion and Cobra, the Ork Gun and battlewagons, and the Tau's extensive vehicular and battlesuit forces.

The Land Raider Devastator is designed, as an easily deployed, yet very effective, anti-vehicle platform. Although a few Land Raider Devastators carry bolters armanents, the primary variant only has two Storm Bolters for infantry defense. In other words, the Land Raider Devastator was designed to do one thing: destroy all vehicular assets of the enemy, to open up the battlefield for our infantry and infantry fighting tanks to attack the enemy unhindered.

Due to the large power arrays, the Land Raider Devastator is the only Land Raider that cannot carry troops. However, its five twin-linked lascannon batteries are more than enough to kill a tank in one volley, and can even disable or destroy a super-heavy tank in one or two concentrated volleys. Although its history in the Imperium is extremely limited, the tank has proven itself that it has given the Sons of Mechanicus, and later, the entire Imperium, the heavy hitting power the Space Marines need to stop these metal behemoths we have come against time and time again."

Note: After doing some research, the real Warhammer 40k LRD that I made, can actually kill a Super Heavy tank such as a Baneblade in one volley, assuming I roll well.

I hereby volunteer my testing services. I am a defensive player as well so I should be the perfect testbed for your mod. I have beta-tested before so I have some experience in this regard. Here's a thread that had some of my ideas:

^ I do, not far from you. I'd love to get a tabletop version of Warhammer 40k going. I feel like I missed out - I played D & D as a kid and still do occasionally with some friends.

The Legacy - if you need any editing in terms of text, readme documents and the like, I can do that as well.

Sounds good, thanks for the offer.

P.S. I went to Scottsdale not too long ago, last summer actually.

Alright, I just revised the bugly Lemun Russ demolisher. Take a peek.

The picture on the left uses the full baneblade gun, scaled down to fit. However, the barrel is a LOT longer than the normal demolisher barrel, but I admit it looks a lot like some sort of variant...

The picture on the right reverses the barrel, and fitted the barrel tip on the end, making it look like the conventional Demolisher barrel.

    Like it? Post!

    I LOVE IT MAN.

now are you going to add sponson upgrades?

  15. #15
Remember that I'm working with existing pieces. I don't have the knowhow to make texture maps, and then applying them to models. I'm cutting and taking pieces from one thing to another, and frankenstining them.

That said, chances are the Baneblade Lascannon turret might do for that sponson...

well cant you enlarge the plasma rifle and splice it onto the sponson?

  17. #17
    Actually, I probably could.

  18. #18
I think the devastator is cool heh. Good work!!

  19. #19
Damn those new tanks do look good, very rugged.

I can't model because i don't know how but what i will do this week is to do a cut and paste job of an Ork tank in PSP5 and post it to see if you like it/can build it.

Nice tanks you got there, they look cool
I have one issue though: If the LRD is going to have 5(!) twinlinked lascannons, I'd say you have to drop the transport capacity. The las-generators would, fluff-wise, take up to much space for any kind of transport space to be possible. Though I must agree with the people saying that las-only could be abit boring, ans that adding some melta and plasma weaponry in there would probabl be very cool.

Aron_DeTomado: I already said there would be no transport capabilities. Let me quote my earlier post.

I want that Earthshaker Platform, it would make a base harder to attack.

  24. #24
Woohoo, didn't know that the LRD really existed in fluff. OK then. But I still don't understand why you are bothering with models that are already being done by other mods, which will eventually join the community mod...
    Cheers!

  25. #25
Actually, the LRD doesn't exist in canon. I made it myself. I'm just good at writing, that's all.

And I did them because I felt like it. No real reason. :P

Hey Legacy, when you're done with all those copy-paste models, could I have a couple to use in my mod? I'm a horrible modeller. I can't even do the copy-paste thing right. I managed to change the FX on the sentinel's autocannon but that's the most I'm capable of and even that's pretty dodgy (I'll have to have someone redo it later).

Sure, but chances are I won't be able to make them, because my trial for 3ds Max 8 expired.

So it won't happen until I buy a copy from them. Someday...

Then can I help modeling cause I have an full version of 3dsmax 8.0.

The Legacy: I know this is a bit of a weird place and all but. All is well and progress is happening fast. The WA build shall be done soon, and the Vanilla DoW Build will be in production in a short while. My time is limited as you well know, but it looks like fridays and saturdays are the best for me to communicate with you.

Shall send you pictures, and even maybe a small video trailer to show ya I'm not slacking at all. Haha, Cya Legacy!
