If we can't use his likeness then how about naming a character after him? How about Sgt. Steven Murphy but everyone just calls him Murph? I doubt his family would have a problem with that.

AKA: LoneStranger, lonestranger or some other variant.

We will miss you Murph. God be with you.For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die. (Ecc. 3:1-2).

I think he'd find it awesome to be an easter egg.
Who wouldn't be?

Preacher, I think Murph would have gotten more of a kick out of Ezekiel.![]()

Yeah, CJs is more Murph. But then, I think Preacher's was more of a consolatory one.
Let's not start a religious flame fest in the thread about Murph's death. Respect?

It was great to hear him on teamspeak, though he couldn't hear us; and I enjoyed winning many games with him and because of him!!!
To [SLS]Murph!
May you win all your future games!!! You are now in a much better place (and probably on a much better system to boot!)
We will miss you!
Godspeed, dear friend.
Wow, I'm going to miss his insults when we played together, it was awesome watching him handle those orks. He was a great guy, I'll miss his ork styled insults, he said I was his bish, man I'm gonna miss his friendship.
There is power in words.

Did Murph play Homeworld II? If so, what was his screenname?
#261
Poignant clip from Murff's yearbook page. I hope it's still true now.

Who the hell thought "erectus" was a good species name for our ancestors?

He used to play on the ladder when it first came out, Tails. I think he might have even been top ten at some stage (when there were a few hundred ranked).

Murph and Targeter labbed quite a lot during the early heydays of HW2, his fav unit at the time was the torp frig, he had a strat revolving around them.
Pace murph, you will be in my memories![]()

Not much I can say - I only spoke with him a few times, but he seemed like a nice guy. I feel terribly sorry for his parents, losing a child is just about the most terrible thing I can think of.
I hope you are happy Murph, wherever you are.

Wow, I go away for a bit, and I miss something like this. Murph, We'll miss you. Hail SLS, Hail Murph.
This sure shows the mature side of the perceived "immature" side of gamers.
Well, time goes on, as it never ends.
God bless his soul.
We carry a deep burden and an unresolving desire to express our deepest regret for you and your family Murph.
As short a time that our Lord kept you here with us, it must have been for a reason and it is therefore a meaningful journey you must embark on. In whatever measure you lived your life it inevitably touched the tapestry of everyone else’s life. You bring meaning and clarity to our existence.
Our hearts and thoughts are with you.

RIP.
Just so yall know, the Admin's have said that this thread is going to be vaulted in his memory.

He actually posted after that, in the staff forum. But yes, that's the last publicly available one.

This is Murph's Dad. I was just called by Punkgirl and asked to look at this forum. I cannot tell you how much I have laughed and cried reading all your mail about my son. He truely was so much fum to be with and talk to. Your posts have made me realize how many lives he has touched. I am so grateful that he he lived in this "electronic" age and you all got to enjoy the heart of a beautiful person who could not hear.
i'll never forget you murph. peas brotha.

Hi Mr. Jagaczewski, you did a good job with Murph, he made a lot of people smile. All the best to you and your family.

I can only echo Tyler's words here. The best to you and yours Mr. Jagaczewski, and thank you for helping to make Steve the wonderful person he was.

Although my tribute to Murph towards the beginning of this thread was tiny, it occurs to me that hearing of Murphs passing away has had a somewhat profound impact on my thinking.
I have a heart condition - it's not a particularly big deal at the moment, but it's been playing up a lot and rather painfully recently. Murphs passing away, whether or not it was as implied a heart attack, has essentially given me a knock over the head like few others, and I'm sure the same will be true of many here.
We don't have a whole lot of time to hang around on this rock, and some have far less than others. We've been blessed to have been given the ability to understand to some extent what that means, and with the means to have some impact on how that time is spent. There are many, many factors influencing what we end up doing in this small backwater of the universe, but the human heart and mind are still as important as any other.
Murph would have scoffed at the cliche, but living every day as though it's your last suddenly doesn't seem like such a bad idea. That's yet another legacy he'll leave around here.
Bro, I'd like to think you've reached the Homeworld. If so, I'll be along sometime to say hi. Just trying to load up the MS first...![]()
I don't know why, but reading this makes me feel like a huge chunk of the the part of my soul dedicated to DoW (which is pretty big) has been torn out. Murph was the epitomy of the perfect member of the DoW community and he will be sorely missed. Don't think I played with/against him at all, but I know that up by the pearly gates, St. Peter, the Almighty Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are getting their asses handed to them by his l33t DoW skillz, which i'm guessin he had.
So, Murph, I raise my glass in salute to you. May you forever rest in peace, in the world where the server never crashes, SCAR errors never pop up and you never lose a match from n00b team behavious. I'll miss ya buddy :*-(
Mr. Jagaczewski,
I don't know if you caught this post from Murph's friends from SLS. God bless.
