    It seems unlikely at this stage (link), but I guess its not impossible.

    Its not happening in the immediate future, certainly.

    Crewbrothers;

    I guess Blizzard has that advantage (shipping the bulk of their library with both formats on a single data carrier disc or an almost universal option to buy either a Macintosh or PC version), although for sheer fun I do prefer Dawn of War more often than Warcraft 3 or D2. If anything there seem to be a lot less trolls and bots in Warhammer's lobbies.

    I do know that Mac versions of various FPSes have been released. Doom 3 and Quake 4 are two recent ones; I remember when I was figuring out the first details for my new rig back in 2000 (keep in mind, we didn't actually get it 'til Sept/05)- and was strongly considering a Mac G4 at that point on recommendation from a good friend of mine who accompanied me and provided advice on the first stores we hit- we went into a Mac specialty warehouse store, and they quite literally had hundreds of nothing but Mac games and software (I remember Duke Nukem 3-D and Ultimate Doom amongst them) on four double shelves taking up a quarter of their sales floor.

    I eventually went with a PC- very nice little beast-girl of a rig- but I haven't counted out a G5 when I start using Photoshop, Illustrator and Maya full-time, whenever that happens. :P

    But yeah, TBS is right on that; I haven't heard much more than rumour of a Mac version of DoW/WA and certainly nothing from THQ or Relic about it. Would like to see how well a version would run on a nice powerful G4 or G5.

    If you read down the thread I linked there actually is a comment from THQ about a Mac version:

    TBS;

    Me bad; yeah, that's more than I'd expected about it. Wonder why Gamespy doesn't like Macs? I would've imagined it'd be worth it for GS to take advantage of a big chunk of the computer market rather than suspend support for it; Gamespy isn't perfect but given how useful it can be (and of course required for DoW/WA in a certain form) I would imagine their discontinuing support for the Mac version would be due to poor compatibility (or complete incompatibility) with OSX's programming architecture, or allotting budget or time constraints rather than investing my opinion in in believing it's because of some sort of tiff by the people who run Fileplanet/GS towards Apple. :/

    It's nice to think it could've happened, tho'. DoW on a Mac, not a tiff at Apple, I mean.

    I guess it was a question of profitability - how many games are there on the Mac? How many of those use gamespy? They probably decided that the expenditure required to support macs was more than they would be able to make back.
