The expansion certainly seems more "exciting" than a patch.
I doubt that they would move to a different multiplayer system (if they were planning to then we would have heard about it). The poll is simply for features you would like to see - they might be able to improve the gamespy service.

I'm sure Tranj has a few aces up his sleeve. Notice how he didn't even annouce the expansion. Seems suspicious to me.
TBS : Didnt tranj say that they were looking into "alternatives" because they were not happy with gamespy?
Btw any company that can get gamespy to fix the problems plauging it from day 1 would have to be divinely inspired....
I just hope the expansion fixes the damn game. Makes it less of a spam fest. please please....

The patch was not the exciting announcement according to him.
Does this mean the exciting news is still to come? Seeing as we already know about the expansion and that a patch is in development, what else are relic hiding up their long insidious sleeves!

Question: I think he said something to that effect, yes, however I interpreted that as meaning for the future (CoH and beyond).

The expansion was one of the exciting announcements, but not the last. I can't spill the beans yet, but when it's time it would happen here first. As for reducing the "spam fest" aspect of WA, that is definitely one of the focuses of the next patch. Sorry to be so vague, but if I announced something now and it didn't come to pass for one reason or another, you guys would be pissed. We have a lot of insanely cool stuff hiding up our sleeves.
Tranj, THQ and relic rock! - Its about time the industry gets a partnership that wants to push RTS' and improve on things. (now that blizzard is in MMO land forever) Keep up the good work...

Tranj has now ascended to a whole new level of evil. His announcements created suspense at first, then exhileration upon hearing the expansion news - only to find out that yet another secret lurks ahead. I can practically hear people gnawing on their keyboards in a futile attempt to silence the voices in their head going "OH GOD WHAT COULD IT BE?"

Even with the frequent spam fest and frustrations of automatch (which if someone kicks my ass it's usually my own fault or they are just better), I usually play this game everyday using the AI mod, DowPro or one of the other mods for skirmish fun (Rome TW being consigned to its box).
I also initially thought the patch was the exciting news nevermind an expansion. Great news

excelent news from tranj there at least there looking into the spamfest, i love the game bought 2 copies of wa and dow to play it on my home network, but I think WA has become really boring I liked how DOW kept units useful through out the game although it wasn't perfect the game play was more enjoyable. If this patch is any good i'll be back. I'm gonna buy 2 copies of the new expansion any way gotta love the variety of 7 unique races only wish they could make it 8 so you could have an 8 player with 8 diffrent races.

btw you should stock up the multiplayer to 10 players and add some new winning conditions or so (King of the Hill maybe or some modes where defending an area is necessary but not like T&H).

The spam of ASM, of ass termis, of prisms, of PSM, of oblits, is killing this game.

I bought the UK Version of DoW but the UK Version of WA was too expensive, so I bought the German Gold Edition and one for my girlfriend who stopped playing WA but will probably join again with the second expansion pack.

Aye, but I think an announcement about a sequel would come closer to the completion of the second expansion. I am also going to petition that the expansion AND and sequels carry a mandatory 'hazardous for your health, social and otherwise' sticker. Sorry...my head almost exploded there. The options for me are shut up and don't say anything (boring, uninformative), give hints, sneak peeks and vague ramblings (less boring, still uninformative), or spill all the bans up front, get fired, lose all hope of getting good PR down the line and having you be bored for the rest of the development of the project (exciting!, informative!, can I get donations to pay my mortgage?). I'll stick with the second option for now. And please, don't call me Alex G. I'm not as pretty as he is.
Also, to clarify something here...I only deliver the news. Relic makes the game. If you like the news you can thank me for delivering it, but please give the kick ass DoW team the props for actually making it happen.

well i'm just glad the spam issue is being addressed. What made the original DOW so much more fun was that yes you could tech if you wanted to and have a major advantage but if fast teching wasn't your strong point, effect use of t1 & t2 options could still win the day against a t3 spammer
