    3ds max 7 - new user

    Hi all,

I have recently joined the forum and have checked the Sticky threads at the top of the forum. I downloaded all the mod tools and the 'object editor' didn't seem to let me edit much! I have seen word about 3ds max 7 and have managed to get a copy from a friend who sort of laughed at me when he lent it to me and I told him why. I have followed a few tutorials with it to try and get to grips with it and I have manged to make an orange but unless I come up with my own mod entitled, "Every character is an Orange Mod", it's not going to get me very far! Can anyone send me in the direction of any 3ds max 7 DOW tutorials. I'm building up from scratch so am currently looking purely to start with the most sinplist of things, designing a building or something similar.

All help appreciated and thanks in advance.

I am no modeler myself, but I found out that the best way to learn would be to begin by modifying Relic's models given with the Mod Tools.
Then, when you start to understand what happens, you can make more and more yourself.

Think of it as the miniatures : you start by painting them, then you add some pieces of green stuff or duro to convert them, then you feel confident enough to replace an arm, and then one day you can sculpt your own mini.
    Just my 2 eurocents.

Sorry of not being able to help you more.
    Have fun !

PS : glad you liked my Space Dragons Dreadnought retexture... :bandit:

    Stuck in a box.
The tutorials included with 3dsmax are very, and I mean VERY helpful. I still go back to them if I happen to forget something. So your best bet would be to run through all of them, at least the modeling ones. Plus there are lots of modeling tutorials on the net itself. Just google "3dsmax tutorial" or something similar and try not to drown in the info
