To produce a sequal to what is quite possibly the worst 3v3 map in the game seems like a terrible idea to me.

Kasyr Lutien is an crap QS map that is way overated and used. I get angry seeing most of the games use this junk map.

Good job making the map though!

what's so bad about Kasyr Lutien.

If everybody hates it so much, why is it so popular? Please dont say "Only noobs use it" cos there is a vast number of competent players who host games on this map.

competent QS players. i can't say the same for competent standard res players.

Kasyr is a perfect map for quickstart games.

Quickstart isn't the retarded horrible thing people paint it to be... it's just different.

You want to know why people hate Kyser? Well I'll tell you why.

Thermals in a place where no enemy can attack them. Makes for easy teching and spam.

One entrance to each base also makes it easy to tech then spam.

Almost every map that is 3v3 is Kyser.

It's a damn tech map. Which sucks most of the time because the upper tiers are broken. Spamming units mindlessly into a choke point sn't my idea of fun. Good maps add more then one entrance to a base. So you have to worry abotu attacks from multiple angles. It also helps to solve the pathing nightmare that is small entrances.

Though the main beef I have with Kyser is that so many people play it and I don't like it all that much. It's DoW version of Big Game Hunters.

Luiten is widely over used, because yes it is all those things (Tech map, bottle neck bridge etc) At least...it is all those things when noobs play on it. An experienced player makes the map his own, and plays it how he wants, doesn't matter what map it is. I personally play a few Luitens, QS and standard and never need to tech rush, never get bottle necked and never have any trouble taking out thier generators to screw them over. Its all about how you adapt your play...and that goes for any map.

maybe kayser is "overused" on qs because people like to play that kind of game?

at least on qs i can have vehicles around the same time as eldar

Kasyr is the most balanced and flexible map out there. It's very straightforward ie: here's your base and there's theirs'. I'm interested to see what this new one brings, and hope the textures aren't dodgy like in that 4v4 kasyr.

Totally agree. No one has access to anything everyone else doesn't have.

I for one hate QS games as someone who prefers to play under standard settings, however i still do have a place in my heart for kasyr. Is it overplayed? yes. But does that mean it is a noob map? only if you play it like a noob. Any good player can work with the map to shape any battle into something of their choosing.

Kasyr can be a tech map, but teching on kasyr can be dangerous if you are doing it against competent players. I can't count the times I have seen a falc/fire dragon, raptor w/ powersword, or ASM /powersword hurrass take out big gens and other key buildings of the unsuspecting techer who has little if any defense. Big mech teleport allows Ork players to bipass bridge defense armies and draw them away from the bridge long enough for your green horde to pour into the base from the cover of fog of war.

IG is the only race that should really have any kind of difficulty with the bridge bottle neck problem. but then again IG has always worked better as a support race on this map. IG works best by protecting the bases of your allies, as well as serving more of a clean-up roll. I typically will use a squad or two to run behind my ally's army to decap enemy points and take care of power plants and listening posts that may have been bypassed in the rampage towards the next base.

Personally i find that anyone who turtles the bridge in Kasyr is really doing themselves a disservice. It kills your early economy allowing those dreaded techers to bypass you into tier 3 and 4. while you will most likely be stuck at tier 2. Also what good are turrets out in front of your base with deep stiking capabilities, jump troops, or the an army the rolls into yours from the side after finishing your ally off because you could not support them.

I find that throwing in win conditions like take and hold will force a strait techer to deviate from their typical stratagy and build at least a moderate tier 1/2 army lest they find themselves hitting their 3 and having no army with witch to fight the orange clock ticking down to their defeat in the corner.

anyhow, looks like a pretty map, but team two looks really screwed being out in the open, while team 1 looks rather safe and cosy with only two bridges as access points for mass ground armies and mech...

It is horrible and retarded because it's completely broken. The game balance just isn't designed around that many starting resources and the higher tiers' imbas are exagerated thanks to the quick tech.

As for KL the map, really, what redeming features does it have? It's balanced? Is it? Eldar can jump vehicles over the bridge whilst nobody else can except for SM tier 3. It's flexible? How?! Where on earth is the flexibility other than "do I go over bridge A, B or C?" It's just a dull, dull map that's played a lot because people don't have to think creatively about it.

Unless you have tried this new map I suggest you refrain from badmouthing it.
