But thats the way its always been with new expansions.. mods worked.. It was during the original DoW times when they moved from LUA -> RGD was when everything was in disarray for a few weeks. With every expansion, mods worked except they a) were not balanced to take into account the new gameplay aspects and b) they did not use some of the new LUA code available to them if they wanted it.
I don't want to sound like a child crying for a toy ...
but: Shin; you promised to release a DC Build of the Craftworld mod after soulstorm comes out.....
If it is as good as the harlie alpha I'm sure people would love it just a much

Shin has other DoW projects (like Steel Legions, BloodAngels, Splinterfleet, OrkA, Craftworlds, Emperor's Children, and then Harlequins) but work/life/other games/feeling burned out can take a toll.
You are ALL welcome to offer support and modding help for any of these to lighten the load.
ugh u have no idea how much i want to help out with any of these mods, but i only got 3dsmax today and i have not a clue how to use itshame i really wanna help. i do alot of adobe flash so i have animation in mind.

Do not loose sight of the fact that Thud, Shin, myself & all other mod teams are not paid to mod...and have important day-jobs & family & loved ones & sleeping etc. that come first...before the Mod's
You see...if I give up my job as an exotic lap-dancer, to mod full time...how will I pay for the SS expansion?!![]()
ForbidMetal - Get as many reference books with Tut's, and work through them...and remeber Max is a generic 3D package not just a tool for DOW modding...its taken me 4 years to get used to, thats with an AutoCAD background...persistence & patience will see you through...good luck

Anyway, Harlequins for DC was released back late last year -- I recently updated the AI for its use in Soulstorm.. works damn mighty fine.. much better then the AI which shipped out before. Of course.. if Shin had helpers his final Harlequin dream could be realized quicker.
Poor thud, your really tore up about Danimator and grims mods,it is sad that they decided to let all that work go to waste...the least they coulda done was goahead and release them. no matter how Unrefined they were,
Pertaining to The Craftworld mod, i would like to see it come out along the time of Splinterfleet (itching for some iyaden destruction :P) and i also remeber something about they were actually planing on releasing them somewhat together...of course that might be my wishfull thinking.
also, i hope imaplayers "hordes of abaddon" mod is still Convulsing...

Peturabo: I disagree heartily. If they didn't want to release any of the stuff that they worked on, it was their right. The least that they could have done was to respect their artistic integrity and only release things if THEY wanted to... regardless of what the community wanted. As Spartan_x said, modders work for free... and there is NO good reason why they should have to release anything that doesn't meet with their vision.
The same goes for Craftworld/Harlies... it's been a long wait, and Shin has a lot on his plate, but that doesn't mean that he should release anything that he doesn't feel like releasing.
Croaxleigh, i see your point About dani and Grim. and seeing your Portfolio you know a ton better than me, but if you just up and quit something that has taken alot of your freetime (and other people who have helped you) wouldnt you release or give back what they have done to get somekind of gratification, and if you Have wiped your hands clean of it, why would it matter if someone else finishes it? im not trying to sound greedy or selfish, just confused on why someone would do that, Eh maybe its just What i would do, seeing that if i make someone else happy im happy

Well I'm not remotely happy with what is happening with Dani/Grims projects and I told him right out in private especially since I worked on their AIs to ensure they were perfect. Now I have their fairly latest builds on my local drive and all I can do is ponder what could have been feeling powerless to do d*ck. Lovely.. I suppose I could debate this til I'm blue in the face and with the time ticking away til mid'09 for DoW2 that doesn't help matters kuzz we're all VERY much now working on spent time.
I feel a deep sense of obligation to get most DoW projects done and almost all War40k assets into DoW as quick as possible before DoW2. To that end, I plan to expedite that goal even financially because I am not a man to leave things left undone.

ah man that was a hell lot of fun thank you thank you thank you!!! just gotta wait for the next installment on the combiners mod and ill be able to play soulstorm again! the only issue i had with this (not AI related) was that everyones banners execpt the harlies appeared pink, not a big deal but i found it a little weird since ive been playing the harlie mod since vanilla dawn of war (it got me into mods) ive never seen it before but like i said no big deal!
ah something weird when i was versing harlie AI there LPs didnt attack? they were upgraded idk why it would be different for the AI because when i was playing harlies my lps attacked fine automatically

Wow this mod is an absolute gem. I usually despise harlequins (probably because they are jumping on my head every 2mins)) but I enjoyed this mod immensley. Such a nice change from other races, incredibly quick paced and elegant infantry are a real pleasure to use.
It really is incredible what great stuff there is out there.

Ah mute? Harlequin LPs don't attack.. they offer bonuses to fellow Harlies, stealth themselves, and slow the enemy down when they near + other features. I dont' care whether it's alpha, beta, gamma, what ever this mod is absolutely fantastic. Just yesterday harlequins were my sworn enemies but today I find myself searching aimlessly for any harlequin related fluff I can find and all thanks to this mod. I encourage anyone reading this to give it a try straight away. Anyways, my thanks to the team responsible for this mod (according to what I have read it has been passed down between various ppl and at present is in the hands of Shin gouki) well my thanks to anyone who has contributed towards it. Great work![]()
Here are a few suggestion:
- The User bar (bit with all the building options, can't remember what it's proper name is) is so bright that it is almost distracting, doesn't really matter.
- Maybe just have the Solitaire as melee beast relic unit and allow a few more spirit wraiths, can be useful when the enemy starts spamming dreads and defilers.
- Perhaps give the Dark veil the ability to create a webway portal
anywhere on the map through which harlequin units can travel. The ability can maybe spawn a building that looks like a portal and any units including enemy could use it. It could lose health at a fixed rate but builder units could be used to maintain it for hit and run tactics. (I think it could produce some interesting scenarios)
Anyway I am a admittedly cheap player so these suggestions may not make any sense but either way I can bearly tear myself away from this excellent mod.

No sir its good as it is because imagine using it to send a Solitaire, 2-3 Vibro-mounted Mocking Birds, and a Spirit Walker right into your enemy's base. Yep.. you get an automatic "gg". It could be worked on but an accomplished team would have to be choosen to continue it. Good to hear about the Harlequins AI - those guys were such a major byatch trying to get the AI to use em properly.
According to the pdf codex at games workshop all the units are in their already, I wish all 'unfinished' mods were in such good condition and available for download. From the many threads I have read it seems like their is so much good stuff out there that seem to have stopped but from showcases look amazing. Then again these mods must be hard work, just putting in one c2c model gave me grey hairs lol
anyone have that link to the file to prevent this mod from crashing? i think it goes in the structures folder, but the old link is dead now.

Hopefuly Shin and C° have never listen to the storm crows who time and time again said the CWE and Harlequin mods were dying.
If brand-new-and-shiny DoW2 makes you stop looking forward to such potentialy high-quality mods, then better you indeed stop following their progress, obvious or subtle.

i think you guys are reading into it a lil' to hard..he simply means that he thinks most people will move to That new game, so this project will never get finished.(he might have phrased it wrong) .At least that is how i have read it ,and srsly the new THQ game should be called a rpg not rts..atleast from what I have heard and seen ,its more like a new game then evolution but i digress![]()

I can ask Shin to give me his latest SS Harlies build and I'll ask DoWfiles to put up a more permanent offering so it never expires.
This mod is awesome of course it would be superb to have a finished version, but I'm more than grateful for all the hard work that went into this project already (sadly I can't help this mod)... sure thing it would be very sad if it wouldn't be finished but let's face it after all those years and a DOW2 coming up it's totaly understandable that some elite mod veterans are shifting down a gear or stop developing their work...
As for myself I don't care about a DOW2 and would be very grateful should this mod be finished for SS or DC.... well sorry for ranting just my 2ct.

I think Shin is a little wee busy to work on Harlies UNLESS someone steps forward to tweak/enhance it then forever more in DoW1 it will remain this way. Of course, if DoW2 is proven to be massively un-moddable then the DoW1 side of things might elevate a little. The work involved to get a full Harlies faction realized is almost there -- Shin put in ALOT of content when he worked on this in late '05 to '07 so you can see the fine details. But he is currently busy much like the entire Steel Legions group so its up to some mid or vet modders to offer a little support *IF* they have free cycles.

I can do modeling, animation and a lil bit of texturing. If you want to send some work my way i will see what i can do.
Not sure exactly how much time i will be able to put into it because i have another project for a different game but i might be able to help you out a bit.

Shin is currently indisposed of until late Aug so I'll need to wait to get the latest Harlequins build but have to ask Shin to add Soulstorm integration so Harley weapons can fire at air targets. The AI side of things was long done. I will then need to put it up on DoWFiles.com for long term archiving.
