    I am looking forward to play the next alpha

    Advice on the dxp2 files ought to be great, but, erm, where are the dxp2 files?
    I assumed that you where refering to the Harlequin alpha on page 23 (24). In this you will find the dxp2 files in the rar file when you unpack it. The dxp2 files are normaly found in your main dark crusade folder. (dont forget to backup them) Hope I didnt totaly missunderstand you and that this helps.

    Just to keep you all informed, not been home for two days hence the lack of release. It's actually packaged, Thuds kindly done the new revised AI for it, once I get home I'll include that in the installer and put it online for you all .

    Advanced AI updated for Harlies now.. W()()T! Now Shin needs to do some final tests/tweaks and then you'll see how much they own yer arse!

    Of course what this project REALLY needs is someone to help Shin with rigs/anims, do some 2d work on icons/UI.. add voices and more soundfx, complete the buildings (not many). There is a bit of work but also not. This is perhaps Shin's ultimate pride and joy! Having Harlequins as a unique and seperate playable faction is really more desirable than as a branch of Eldar BUT it depends on timelines and help.

    IIRC Shin already had some very nice icon, based on the 1st edition harlequins painting and drawing. Anyway, for small 2d tasks, I can offer to help. Just a little piece at time, due to my many other things to do.

    Actually, Harlequin mod's build icons are fine.. its the UI that needs to be tweaked and its centre drop-down button to be finished.

    Harlequins have no real voiceovers in the mod -- you might want to approach Shin.

    Ok Alpha re released with a few really really minor tweaks. Don't expect too much from it but at least it has an installer, new ai and a few unit fixes.

    This is not meant as an official release, it's just for those who enjoy the mod and wanted an playable build for DC.

    Feel free to comment anyway just don't waste time slagging off the artwork it's still an very experimental mod.

    [starts counting how long it takes dowfiles.com to realize yet another massive DoW release is out]

    FYI -- Shin stated the Harlequin's situation. Its Alpha still. Shin already has ALOT going on with other DoW projects but to complete this incredible project would demand more staff ESPECIALLY those with good animation skills to pull off some amazing Harlequin choreography. What Harlequins lack in quantity of troops, they totally and ABSOLUTELY make up for in shear tactics and Tier4 units that are near the presence of the Great Deity himself.

    I'd say pretty close to beta... the models look awesome, congratiulations. I'm curious what the other buildings will look like when they are finished, as well as how they will play. I saw some interesting mechanics, a very mobile army while very dependant on map control...

    Edit @ Thud - Could only take another year for them...

    Thank you so much for this Shin ,Playing this was as fun as playing Witchhunters-Adeptus Sororitas,Inquisition Daemonhunt & Steel Legion DC ,I finnaly get to play as my favorite faction of Eldar ,The model's- textures-and game play realy bring to life what I have read of the Harlequin's in the Black library book's,That was of the hook fun,Since this is the alpha I cant wait to see what else that you have in store for us ,Once again thank you very much for releasing this in it's Alpha stage to us ,Later Shin and have a good one .

    For an alpha, it sure is astounding in quality. The Shadowseer alone is worth the download. Powerful elite units, few in number, but appropriately vulnerable if not well micro-managed - what's not to like? I find the Harlequins more authentically "eldar" and fun to play with than the vanilla Eldar. Thanks, ShinGouki.

    Sorry to post about a bug, but I just wanted to state that this Race, when controlled by a computer AI, crashes my game completely. This occurs during both during "combiner" style multiple mod games, and games set within it's default mod. I might add it happens ONLY when playing against the Harlequins faction. IF I use it, it's all just fine.

    Essentially, when I start a random enemy skirmish it just freezes momentarily and then shuts down my entire program. I'll attempt to post a log file for anyone who might be interested.

    I'd suppose this comes due to the Harlequins being an *alpha* (cough, cough) version. They are not even beta, nor are they release version 1.0.

    @capulin - That log won't remotely help you. Uninstall and Reinstalling the Harlequins mod AND not running it with other mods will. DO NOT RUN Harlequins with other mods PLEASE! Why? Because in order to troubleshoot your problem or ANY error you get you must bring all things down to a rudimentary level. Don't involve other factors that could complicate things.

    Once ONLY Harlequins is running, try to play a standard map against the AI using various other vanilla factions and skills. Play ONLY with the Annihilation mode enabled.

    Harlequins uses a pre v2.60 Advanced AI. It might not be compatible with other mods.

    Thud - This was the mod completely by itself. I have done no altering to the core mod. Sorry if I wasn't clear. I did some testing last night while I was posting about this, and it all ended up being the normal Harlequins mod - by itself - that was creating this bug, with no alteration on my part. It simply bugged every time I tried to create a game with a Harlequin comp AI. These games were 1 vs 1 games / skirmish with me, any faction, vs a Harlequin AI within the Harlequin's normal mod, without any additions to the DoW roster and no change to the MODULE file or any other piece of the Harlequin's mod itself. I will try the reinstall as you suggest, but as I haven't altered the the mod in any way, shape, or form, I don't think this will change my outcome - unless it didn't install properly.

    (PS - This happened ALSO with the combined mods (which made me think there was an AI issue with another mod) but I isolated the crashing down to it being pure and simply something to do with the Harlequin mod and no other outside influence. Essentially, the bug continued to happen when simply within the constraints of the Harlequin mod itself.)


    Anyway, I wasn't sure if anyone else had this happen, so I thought I'd attempt to help you crush a nasty bug. ^_^



    - Edit - I reinstalled as you suggested - fresh install, and it still crashed the game in the same way. Any other suggestions?

    Hmm.. so no AIs work at all regardless of selected faction or skill? Running only Annihilation game mode? Noone else is reporting this problem so must be the way it installs to your computer.

    No thud - Only the Harlequin's. All of the other AI's work just fine. It is ONLY when the Harlequin's are a computer AI. Every other AI, when played against is fine. Playing as the Harlequin's creates no bug when matched against any other AI. (My first vanilla match was HQ vs Tau - me HQ.) It went smooth and fine. I then did all of my testing and was running 1 vs 1 matches with any race (me) vs the HQ - AI, and the game crashed w/o fail every time. Perhaps it is, as you say, some problem with how it installed on my comp. I'm unsure at this point.

    Sounds like a bad install to me since noone else is reporting. If you tried at other AI skill levels then dunno. Capulin - out of curiosity, go to the harlequin's mod folder and look in its data\attrib\ebps\races\harlequins\structures folder.. do you see a "harlequins_nil_building" there? There has to be one otherwise game will crash when you play with against a Harlequin AI.

    Well I have alot of experience in these matters.

    Download the file here!

    Copy it to the mod's data\attrib\ebps\races\harlequins\structures. Now try playing a game with or against a Harlequin's AI. I do not believe Shin forgot to include it otherwise we would have has mass reportings of the same issue as yours.

    I personally doubt he did either. Though I cannot say why that file failed to integrate itself into my install. (Shrugs)

    You might also be interested to know that I went against your wishes and attempted a Combined game with every other faction mod I had available. The HQs performed well in conjunction with all the other mods dispite the difference in Thud AI versions.

    hi thud. it looks like the problem is nobody played against HQs yet.
    I only played once and I was amazed, Shin made great-great job here ´cause it doesnt look like alpha... its beta omg
    ok back on topic: I looked in my folder and "harlequins_nil_building" file was not there...
    I think shin forgot sthing but.. even the best have their bad days...

    Hi guys, just wanted to say thanks for all the positive responses despite how little I've managed to do with this mod in the past year. Thud there's every chance i failed to upload an file I had only tested against other races, not against harlie ai as I thought i'd just put it up for people so it wasn't delayed further. Is that the only file I need to change?

    If so I guess i can just repackage + upload again. It's an nice and compact mod at 23mb after all .

    This mod is fantastic. It's extremely well made, especially for an alpha. The Harlequins looked great, and they felt very distinctive in terms of gameplay. I hope the Combiner Mod adds support for the Harlequin mod soon, because it can definitely stand up to the other race mods in terms of quality and playability.

    I liked the use of listening posts as power generators. It makes the distinct from the other races without being unbalancing. It gives them even more incentive to expand, which goes well with their more mobile style. Will a thermo-plasma generator be added in the future? The hybrid LPs work fine to replace the standard generators of the other races, but it seems a bit underpowered if the other races can get tons of power from slag deposits and the Harlequins can't.

    I also liked the mimes. It was cool to have the T1 scout-type unit also act as the builder. That was probably my favorite feature of the Harlequins.

    Anyway, the race was a lot of fun, and I thought it really captured the feel of the Harlequins. I'm really looking forward to the final release.
