Re: Mod discussions in balance issues

Due to recent issues we had with discussions about mods on these forums here is how we proceed:

You might have followed the latest arguement about mentioning and pimping DoW Pro on this board so I'm gonna use them as an example to explain our new policy. Following this discussion we decided to ban mod discussion from the balance (and strategy) discussion areas of this forum.

Which means that posts that do not add to a balance discussion will be deleted, namely posts that include "oh screw, WA play <insert mod name here>"

If you want to draw a comparison to a mod, namely Pro, don't make it look like shameless pimping. We will delete posts that include an alibi WA reference too. If it adds to the discussion you are allowed a comparison but it solely is at the moderator's disgression to delete them. So think your post through before you submit it.

This is not because we hate mods or DoW Pro, we are in fact looking for ways to promote them. But this is not the place for that. These forums are dedicated to improving DoW and WA, not to discussing a mod.

There is however, for now, an exception. DoW Pro will be allowed to keep their thread in balance issues for the time being because they kind of always had it here. Don't ask for other exceptions and the decision wether it can stay here may be changed at any time in the future.

    Example
Someone posts a thread about how Eldar are too weak.

    Posts that will get nuked
"Yeah Eldar in WA suck switch to DoWPro."

    Posts that are ok
"Well, what about increasing the avatar hitpoints by 200%? We did that in DoWPro, and it worked nicely. We did discover a little imbalance for the space marines though, so we gave the force commander a lascannon to balance it out, thus solving the issue at hand".

The first reply is nothing but advertisement, and adds nothing to the discussion. The second post draws a parallel to an existing balance solution implemented in a mod, thereby providing a solid example that has actually been tested. This is perfectly acceptable.
