    Carrying Cases

Does anyone have any reccomendations for carrying cases for my troops? (Sisters of Battle/Witch Hunter Army, with a few tanks, vehicles)

Any advantages of a hard plastic case over the soft bags with straps or vice versa?

Horizontal stacking of foam trays better than vertical stacking, etc?

I'm basically looking for something secure enough to survive the ride in the car to the hobby shop for weekly games... suggestions?

Well, security has been an issue, You might want to look at Fish Tackle Boxes, They're good for carrying small parts, have built in organizers, but make sure it's lockable and definitely easy to steal, I.E., there are a million and a half ones like it.

    ....what? syntax errors there.

I'm trying to avoid tackle boxes due to them being basically just plastic... and clear (eww).

I've got small combo locks and can lock up cases with, plus i don't plan on letting anything out of my sight.

Well anything is good, just don't go flinging you case around. Takleboxes come in all colors and shapes and make damn good carrying cases. But if your really worried about your minis and are willing to fork out the money you can get the GW carrying case and its foam thingys.

I'm at work right now but when I get home Ill dig up a link to the army transport people, they have modular foam inserts and soft bags of alot of sizes including rollon luggage

Death holds no fear only for the fool. An Astartes' duty is to control that fear and turn it into a blind hatred of the end of his life, for it brings with it the inability to fulfil his duty to the Emperor.

I'm trying to decide on my first case as well. I just got back from Wal-Mart with the wife and they had some cool tackle boxes with pull out sections and all kinds of good areas for bitz and what not. I priced the biggest coolest one for less than $20 and some foam to cut up for padding at less than $5... this would get you a case with the capacity for about 60 or so mini's including a couple of big ones.

I think I'm going that route, the cases that are offered from the gaming companies just seem overpriced for what they are... but if you are worried about style that's another story... the wife and I plan to make ours custom (and therefore badass) with our own paint jobs and stickers so we will be going with tackle boxes (even if it is ghetto).

I actually plan on eventually building a small box-breifcase with layered foam and drawers for codices for each army. Im still pricing the parts though.

I've had good luck with pistol cases. They're tough, they do a great job of protecting your minis, and they're all lockable. They are also pretty accomodating of models with fiddly bits.

I've got a large GW carry case with loads of foam layers and the Imperial Aquila in white stiched on the front of it. GW don't sell it any more, but when they did it cost £60. However I got it and a new Tyranid battleforce on ebay for £80, so it was a steal.

I use an Army Transport, and these things are great. They're cheaper than GW cases (assuming you buy from TWS), and carry a heck of a lot more. Not to mention you can buy all the trays seperatley for each army.

You were correct, it was a Major Synatx error, make it unique so it's not easy to steal, and that are NOT 1 and a 1/2 million others of them.

Anyway, They're not all clear, your quite decieved. I was thinking something like this
    http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=4232223

    or this
    http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=4303556

Those containers in those things, seriously, one of those on that second one, holds all of my Tackle, one of the 4 stackers. It'd be great for carrying a like 2,000+ point army, only problem'd be Tanks, but The Ork, IG and 'Nid Players, it'd be great for.

These are pricy, but cheaper than GWE for what you get and they are the SHIZ-NIT!

btw- I've used the Sabol cases in the past and I'm not the biggest fan. They're ok, but a pain to set up and a pain to deal with when the model you want happens to be on the bottom of the umpteen shelves in the case.

@ kblaes: do you reccommend the regular vetical stacking transport or the "Motor Pool" horizontal layout?

I'm leaning towards the Motor Pool model based on ease of shifting trays around to find what I need without unloading EVERYTNING.

@ brother armand: What do you mean cheaper thn GW? the cheapest bag that i could find that held 100 guys like the GW army case ( big one ) is 135.00$. I don/t even use a gaming carrying case. I use these little organizers that can hold most modles on foot, and that have flat 60mm bases upside down. They can't carry tanks, so I get a toolbox that holds about 6 tanks, with space in between for dice, measures, large models...
