As Terracomm's Orks took me out of the tournament, I am naturally backing Cfoley for the Final. That and he's a brother Space Marine! For the emperor, Cfoley!

When I saw that the Orks and Berzerkers were fighting each other, I thought I'd have no chance against the Tyrant. Good game, Kwijibo13.

So, It's Death Company versus Orks. Both sides are very random. The orks get a funky roll for special abilities and the size of the Death Company depends on the number of frothing madmen on duty that day. The first two dice could decide everything.

I would like to add that it's no coincidence that both teams who got to the final are made up of frothing madmen/orks.

It is taken just before the shooting phase, and is the only such roll for the game (as they are tied in CC - so there are potential exceptions... but 99% of the time)

The Death Company would march to battle with the Reclusiarch leading 6 Marines.

The Injections

The Pigdok remembered the injections and the Madboyz would fight with +1 Strength

Being 'Disturbed'

The Boyz weren't 'disturbed' this round.

The Fight

The doomed Blood Angels and the crazed Orks exchanged fire.
Bolt Pistol slugs dropped 3 Gretchin and one of the Madboyz. The return fire wounded a Marine, however this was shrugged off by sheer force of will (and general psycosis blocking his pain).

The Winner

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!
The Orks and Marines charged boldy into melee. The Orks Waaagh! wasn't enough, though, as the Marines charged with untold fury.

Leading by example the Chaplain smote 5 Boyz.

The rest of the squad followed their leader, striking down a further 13 boyz... leaving just the Pig Dok.

The Dok fired up his Burna and screamed with rage (after all, it just meant more glory and loot for him!).
The Dok wounded the Chaplian and killed 2 Marines.

However, it was not nearly enough. The Chaplain easily dispatched the remaining Ork, then mounted its head on his backpack. Glory to the Emperor!

QUESTION

Normally wouldn't the DC marines have to be drawn from squads in the army list or does the Chaplain get all the DC guys for free? I'm just wondering why they were so much more powerful than everyone they faced and how you get a IC plus all those great fighters for less than 200 points. Makes me want to add BA to my GK list.

And the DC was beaten on a number of occassions in the group stage. In fact, it looked like Cfoley may not have progessed out of the Group Stages at one point.

He was also bumped into the 2nd Chance Draw. So could well have been knocked out there. I think it was a close game to get back in.
So it's not like he dominated the entire thing.

That said... Dooks and I thought that the DC would be one of the best performers, when we discussed it before any rounds had begun.

How can I improve things?
If you really liked or disliked an aspect I'm definately open to hearing it, so I know what direction to take for future Challenges.

700+ posts later, I'd like to thank everyone for making this a relatively easy thread to moderate, (those of you who got my dander up, you know who you are, but thanks for not making it worse!).

Moo, big fat thinks for all the hard work and special thanks to the crew helping you out, (you know who you are, don't make me get all mushy).

Now, can we please let the post-count behemoth go gently into that good night? I'll give you all 'til the end of the week to say your congrats & such.

Yeah, so now I'm done with my gloating, thanks Moo for organising this and Dooks for helping out.

Good game guys, particularly to those of you who beat me in the earlier stages of the competition. I seriously didn't think I was going to get past the groups.

As for the next competition, how about a league format? That way everyone's in it right till the end. If you need help rolling the dice, I'll be happy to oblige. I've got just about all of the Codexes and have a good knowledge of the game rules.
