    a question on soldiers "smarts"?

i know soldiers will have the intelligence to find cover and everything on there own which is sweet.

    my question is

will they be aware enough to at least try to get out of buildings if they notice(hear) a shell coming at it or will they be smart enough to do everything but that?

    thanks garrett

You don't really get much warning before a shell hits the building your in. You might hear a short whistling noise, but you wouldn't know if the shell was going to hit your building, and it'd be too late to do anything about it anyway before you got blown to peices, or just shocked if your lucky

    You cannot dodge a shell.

Either he's talking about the long range heavy artillery stuff (Where you'll get 1-3 seconds, maybe), or those situations where you see a tank's barrel lining up with you. I can't see the AI being able to figure out either one.
    Dammit, not again!

No. This is an action we want to player to take, not the AI.

And I'd be frustrated if my soldiers left their cover at the first sign of danger. Would make all cover useless.

im talking about trying to escape, if they notice it. i definately don't want superdudes. duh.

i want them to reasonably move from cover to cover and not linger way to long under certain cover, once their position might be made.

i was mainly referring to if they see a tank barrel shifting toward their building or like if they see a flamethrower open up it'd be cool if they could try. im not saying they make it but at least be realistic with it

tranj pretty much answered it. id at least like the ability to give that order myself or have them try on their own.

i definately don't want them to dodge. that's very different than what i was asking.

    one more question.

will there be much if any jungle settings or just urban?

i know there wasn't much jungle in europe but it would be nice to have as an option.

    thanks garrett

Only France theatre. Unless there were jungles in France back in '44, that's a no.

If you can hear a whistle, it means it is not going to land near you.
The round that lands close or on you, does not make a sound to you, but others can hear it.

Its to do with sound projection and placement.

You do have a one button ability called "retreat". This gives the unit a defensive and speed bonus, but they are no longer under your control until they have retreated back to your HQ.

I like the sound of that. Is morale going to be in the game? If so are you able to say how it is handled?

I dont want my men to move, i wanna see them get blown up

Now that's a cool ability! You might want to work on it a bit, though, so that the soldiers choose the safest route, not the shortest one. I can already picture my riflemen "retreating" through german HMG lines...

I just wonder how the experience will work, I know in Blitzkrieg 2, the experience worked quite well. As you 'unlocked' new services(heavy tanks, assault guns etc) you could promote someone to take command of that service.

Maybe thats how we get officers in the game....who knows....*tranj i bet*
