Pentium 4 2.80 Ghz 512mb of ram
i cant even have two workers made and the game will freeze for a few seconds then come back when i have 2 squads its too the point its unplayable

well waited a few hours.. figured id try to fix it myself.. now windows does not load anymore not sure what i did ?! ... anyways reformatting now again.. (using work comp) i will try reinstall once back online.. but i tried command and conquer generals as well to see if it was just DoW/WA and that game would be like "laggy" single player... i dont understand and i could really use some input PLEASE !

Firstly you need to be patient - we're volunteers here, not official tech support...dont bump your thread unless we've overlooked it for at least 24 hours.

Anyway, from the dxdiag before you screwed up windows I'd have said update windows to SP2 and see if things improve.

Now you've formatted that should eliminate viruses etc as a problem, so just get windows patched up, all your drivers up to date etc and then install DoW (or generals) as the only other software on the machine.

Its possible, but I would expect graphical glitches as well.

Does the choppiness persist even when you turn every setting down to minimum?

Yes it does i even tried turning sound off.. i turned shadows off and everything to low.. still persist it's playable but its the same as laggin if you know what i mean.,. (this is in skirmish/campaign im havin these problems.. havnt tried online yet due too this problem

Open up your task manager when the game is on and check to see if theres any other programs eating up proccessor time.

yeah i tired that as well... with nothing installed but the basics after reformatting.. had nothing eatin mem.. did a mem test as well passed with flying colors.. whats odd is that the openeing movie plays flawless but the game different story.. any other sudgestions ? how can icheck to see if my card is fried ?

ive read that logitech mouse may affect gameplay as well ?? .. also i was mistaken i did not use SP2 .. i thought it was only for security upgrades.. how would that help remove choppiness

SP2 is more than just security fixes - service packs include load of bug fixes and feature updates.

To test your card, try running some benchmark software.

Its software that tests various aspects of your machine and gives it a (somewhat arbitrary) numerical score. To test gaming capabilities the benchmark of choice is one of the 3DMark series (theres one released every year).

Okay tried with SP2 still no difference... but i tired WoW and my graphics where amazing.. no hiccups or anything.. this is really frustrating.. i played last night (dow) but wasnt as fun as it could be when i would freeze during everyfight.. but damn the game is amazin so far from what i have seen !

Hmmmm sounds suspiciously like when my GeForce 6800 was going bad.

Some games would be fine, but others were horrible. Same choppyness you describe.

Can you try running 3dmark?

Also, can you post a log file from http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt ? We can run it through http://www.hijackthis.de to see if there's anything funny with it.

are you sure your video card's driver is up-to-date? if not, download the lastest one from ur manufactorer and install them. See if it fixes it up..... and if your card supports it, try checking it temp. while playing DoW/WA
