My god. Do you have any knowledge of world history? The Allies most definitely are not the Imperial Guard from Warhammer 40,000.

Maybe cause IG might be based on some WWII stuff, rather than a WWII game basing stuff on IG? History matters, World War II happened before the creators of WH40K even had the slightest idea of WH40K, and Company of Heroes is about WWII. Not everything revolves around your dear WH40K you know.
And please, type the words as they are supposed to be typed, don't type "metter", type "matter" instead.
While it's generally accepted (hopefully) that WW2 predates WH40k and that the Guard were heavily based on WW2 combat doctrine, especially that of the Russians, that alone does not preclude the possibility that Relics protrayal of the Allies in CoH is not in some way colored by their experience with the Guard in DoW: WA. The fact that CoH began development around the same time as the original DoW, IIRC, could indicate that in fact the reverse might be true, or even that the two developed side-by-side at some pont. Frankly, I think it ridiculous to believe that the Allies are based on the Guard merely on the basis of similarities between two pieces of concept art which, for all we know, might well have been drawn by the same person. In general the in-game graphical style of the Allies does not mesh with that of the IG. While one could draw all kinds of comparisons between the Guard and the Allies fighting styles and abilities, this cannot be considered evidence that the Alleis are based on the Guard. The similarities are there simply because the Guard are the closest thing in WH40k to a modern army in terms of equipment, technology, and general style. Honestly, the idea of the Allies being based on the IG frustrates me almost as much as a comment I overheard at Comic-Con to the effect that Warhammer Online was a ripoff of WoW. It's not reasonable to expect people to know everything, but I'm amazed and dismayed at how popular games (Starcraft being a prime example) so ingrain themselves in people's minds that anything similar is immediately assumed to be a knock-off even in cases where the reverse is true.
I see no similarity. All I see is soldiers and guess what, all soldiers look similar to each other.

Seriously though, as someone already pointed out, both the IG and WW2 soldiers have guns and those round helmets. That doesn't exactly make them the same thing.

no but seriously if im correct the IG cadians were based off ww2 american soldiers, for the purpose of being based off them

I really don't see the point of this thread. It's a well known fact that the IG are based off various historical armies. Is this a surprise to anyone?

Allies and IG are not similiar. This artwork of CoH, although, looks similar.
And that's it.
I just saw the artwork of CoH and it reminded me the artwork of IG, that's it.
