heavy bombers ....

just thought of something VERY effective against captial ship, yet VERY ineffective against fighters. here comes it.

The heavy bomber carries a single bomb bay filled with proximity mines. The bomb bay carries a large amought of these mines and have 2 backward openings. These bombers are relativily slow compares to most fighters but are heavily armored. when assigned a target, the heavy bomber will attempt to fly under fireing arc of that ship , and attempt to retail 0 relative speed with the target. Once the bomber and the target are relativily stationary, the heavy bomber will start to decent towards the surface of the ship to the point where meganatic mines can home onto the ship, then it will vent its entire supply of mines in a string, quickly damage or/ and destroy the target ship. don't think this is lunar landing, becuase it will take an bomber average 5 seconds to stick onto a ship and another 20 seconds to ruin it.

Like it ?

If I get this right, you are suggesting a mix between a leech, an attack bomber and a minelayer corvette. Imo the ship you describe would be too powerful. It would be very hard too see such a ship in a "cloud" of strike craft and IF it is seen, it's damn hard to destroy because of the armor thingy you said. 2 or 3 of these ships would decimate a capital ship fleet given the right micromanagement.

heavy covette + micro saves your day.

it's not really a leach, it just fly really close to a captal ship, but it does not cloak

well, it will look for the spot where it's least likly to be shot, if there is no spot where it can't be shot.

why does everyone pic on the poor cap ships, they are big enough targets, and fighters CAN already take em out, but it is a challange, why should it be made easier?

Well this gives me an idea of a faster way of making a mine field, build a bunch of these 'mine fighters' and set them into a big wall formation and have them all drop mines at once. Instant mine field instead of waiting for it to grow with mine layer corvettes.
