[NEW MAP] Crossfire (4 Player)

Hi there again, here`s my final version of my "CROSSFIRE" map for 4 players. Beta test phase was a bit short but I wanted to finish this one for the map contest. Anyway I playtested this one a lot and included some of the suggestions made by others here on the forum. Thank you from here .

This one has definately a lot of eyecandy to offer. Hope you like the gameplay too. AI does quite a good performance, also the city terrain is a bit complicated.

To safe performance I chose not to include any water but non the less its a beauty and runs fine also in multiplayer (non sga version of course).

I spent really a lot of time on this one and hope you enjoy.

Wow, Henry. This map is incredible. I could never make anything as good as this.. how the hell did you do the city with all the little fences/stairs and concrete structures?
Well done. Three cheers to you!

Oh and also, please tell me how you make those teaser pictures? I don't know how to do the custom font and get the Company of Heroes logo?

Yup. By far the best custom map around in terms of detail and eye candy.

Ay thanks mates,

- the teaser pictures I make with photofiltre (google for it), its a free and very easy to use paint proggie, the coh logo is in the fansite-kit available somewhere here in the forums

- for the city detail: whow hell man, this is really time consuming, just add detail, detail detail till it looks really complicated hehe (dunno exactly but just creating the city was (uhm count count count) about at least 20 hours work (I have to work by the way so this took me a week)).

Yep. The little detail makes it worth it. Like stairs, walls and the edging on cobblestones.

Once again, well done. I hope you win your category in the map contest, but I hope I win the 1 vs 1 category

Thanks, downloading photofiltre now, but I can't find the fan kit?

Hmm I'm a bit disappointed with the results of the mapcontest. I was really looking forward to see this one in the official mappool. So here is my personal "honourable mention" .

This map is hands down the BEST community map I've seen to date.

The attention to detail is just outstanding. This is the type of map I would have expected to come from the developers of the game.

Great work!

Wow. I'm glad this thread got bumped because I probably would have never found this gem. I have been looking for some good 4 player maps.

If anyone else has some others they could suggest, that would be great.

Never caught your reply until now. Great thread and thank you! Someone needs to add a new map, to bump that post.

posible problem

Hey,
Great map. I've been playing the duce out of it.

I may have found an issue with using the Advanced AI mod with this map.
See my post and the reply in this thread:

Basicly one of the AI doesn't build a base or do anything.

When its a common problem with the ai mod I cannot do anything, but we played this map a hell load of times with the ai mod (also with version 1.2) and I never had this problem but we use axis and play vs. allies most of the times, I will see later if I can reproduce your error.

Henry666,
Perhaps you always played the map such that the particular problem HQ was always played by a human. It might be just one HQ that is having this problem. But, it was noted in some thread here in the Map Bunker, that if the HQ is placed too close to the edge of the map, the AI will have problems with it. The Hill 192 map that Simmo made by converting the SP campaign mission had this problem. I fixed it yesterday by simply moving the problematic HQs (there were multiple ones on this map) just a little further (~ few viritual meters) from the edge.

yep, I know that HQ thing just too good, sometimes its also the territory attached to the HQ that causes this behavior. Anyway did another round with my mate on this map with ai mod 1.2, we played allies vs. 2 expert ai - no problems - both Axis AI build up a full base.

Henry,
Do you used fixed or random starting locations? Has the AIs started in the bases you and your mate played in today in previous games?

Hairy,
Can you indicate which HQ was the problem one?

Yeah, Sorry, I've been gone on vacation and the wife doesn't let me take my laptop to the beach.

Me and my buddy both play on Allies, fixed position, Annihilate, hard or expert. Looking from the Allies HQ across the city, the Axis AI on the Right is always the problem.

It doesn't happen all the time, so you may have to play a few before you notice it. One of us usually go paratrooper and do a fly over as soon as possible to see if we got a good game. Once, the first two times we tried were bad and the third time worked.
