CoH:Eastern Front mod update #1 (8/10/07)
Dear Company of Heroes players,
I would like to welcome you back for another update of Company of Heroes, Eastern Front, the mod that will be bringing you the soviet union. Our team has been hard at work to bring you our first update. I would first like to announce that we have plans to include a short, single player campaign, thanks to Rizz, as well as regular multiplayer. Our main focus is going to be Operation Citadel, also known as Battle of Kursk. As you may know, the Battle of Kursk was the largest tank battle in history, and was a significant turning point in the war, which opened the Red Army's drive across Eastern Europe all the way to Berlin, leading to the downfall of the Third Reich. Our list or units is still not complete, and several things may be taken off or changed, but our lists so far are as follows: Vehicles Soviet Union: T-34/76 (85 upgrade available) IS-2 KV-1 SU-152 su-76 (SP only) BA-64 Transport (ZiS-6) with Katyusha T-70 & T-90(Mobile AA) ZiS-2 ZiS-3 OT-34 Germany: Hetzer Tiger II Ferdinand-(SP only) Panzer III(sp only) 75mm PaK 40 Infantry: Conscripts Regulars guard infantry Partisans Heavy MG Mortar Commissar Sapper Sniper Next I would like to show you our Russian doctrine list as it stands: Russian Infantry Force Comrades Inspiring Speech- Units move 1.5x as fast and attack rate increased slightly. 30 sec duration. For the Motherland!- All infantry unpinnable and insuppressible. All units currently pinned or suppressed are cured. 60 sec duration. What to call this?- Allied war machine for infantry, lasts 60 seconds. Reinforcements New Recruits- 2 units of conscripts arrive. Political Leader- Commissar arrives. 1 max. Prepared Attack- 2 units of regulars and 1 unit of guards. Armored Force Supplies Fuel arrives- Gain 50 fuel. Better shells- AP and HE of vehicles increased. 30 sec duration. Assault Preparations- Vehicle speed doubled attack rate rate increased. 60 sec duration Armour Tankorovski- Regulars and Guards can now mount tanks. Heavy Tank Destroyer- An SU-152 arrives. Heavy Tank- An IS-2 arrives. Support Force Artillery Off map artillery A massive amount of concentrated artillery On map artillery? God of War- All artillery causes units in a remote area around the artillery to retreat Support- ZiS-3 AT gun available As you can see, it is not fully complete and we need your input! We also have been hard at work with our artwork: KV-1 ![]() SU-152 ![]() Ferdinand ![]() T-34/76 ![]() Katyusha ![]() BA-64(updated) ![]() PPsh-41 ![]() Other weapons: Degtyaryov light machine gun, Mosin-Nagant,PPS-43. ![]() Here is a large Picture of all of our units(2048x1024) http://www.easternfront.org/background.jpg Check out the media section on our forums for larger images and updates. It will come out as soon as we are finished, we have to wait for the object editor before we can even get these ingame, and maybe relic will release some tools as well. I would say we would be closer to release sometime next year, but it is way to early to even think about that.

We will complete it, we've got plenty to do while we wait for it. i think the team info isn't there because it was on the original topic. The W will probably add it. But he might not if we post a new topic for the next update.

By team info do you mean what units and things like that or team members? All of the info about the units was posted in our first announcement I think. I can post it here again. Everything about our team can be found at our website at www.easternfront.org

Hey i have a idea :
The Commisar could have a special ability where he shot 1 Man of a Squad and then the squad is higher motivated and fights better! Because in WWII the Commisars shot everybody who wanted to retreat, and i think its a good special ability! And: How big will the squads be? I think its better if the russians have 12 men in their squad, but the squad is weaker for that to balance it! Because most of the russian infantry wasnt so good trained like the experienced german infantry! |

Nugiman don't worry, the infantry squads will have the right numbers for what they are. But, your wrong about the Russians being badely trained, not all of them were, the Conscripts will be the High Number, low health, squad, they won't all be like that.
Yeh, The-W did a really good job on them. |

Cool guys. Hope this does well.
One comment, though, you MN looks off. That looks more like a fat M38 instead of the mainstay M91/30. Too much wood forward of the magazine and the barrel is too short. It could very well be just how it's positioned in the screencap though. The T34 and the BA64 rawk! ![]() |

Yes Dragon sure they werent all bad trained, but the normal infantry was REALLY bad, so the standard units from the russians should be much people, but bad trained! Sure there are Veteran Troops, but i just wanted to say that!
And what do you think about the Commisar? Do you like my Idea? |

Nugimen, Commisars were political officers. They did not just shoot people for thrills. This popularized image comes from Stalingrad, where yes those who retreated were made into an example, but tha'ts only because *there was no choice*
Had Stalingrad fallen, the USSR would have been out of the war, period. The next major obstacle Germany would have faced after that (aside from the weather) would have been the sea, and all of Russias resources would have fueld the German war machine. 'Not one step back' isn't a radical order when the fate of not just your armed forces, but your entire country depends on you not losing any ground. |

Nugimen, For the standard units we have Regulars(Riflemen), but then from the HQ you can get the numerous and weak Conscripts. I thought about the Commissar Idea before, and at the moment, to make conscripts useful for charging MGs, they have the fire up ability. At the moment, im not sure if we can make them shoot their own. Hmm, Not one Step Back could be a good name for a doctrine ability. What does "tankodesantniki" mean?

Why Katyusha on the basis of Studebaker US6*4 instead of on the basis of ZiS-6 as it is specified in the list of technics?
In my opinion it would be better to make BM-31-12 on the basis of the same Studebaker US6*4 instead of BM-13 Katyusha, therefore as BM-31-12 release 1944 (time in the list is IS-2 and ISU-152) I think to find a photo with BM-31-12 on open spaces of the Internet to you it is possible I ask to forgive my bad english ![]() |
