Cyclic redundancy check

This is kinda strange... I was installing a game on my new computer, but every time it got to 95% complete, it just stopped and gave me an error that said that a pak3.pak0 file could not be copied, and something about a cyclic reduncancy check...??? I have no idea what this means. Could someone please shed some light on what this means?

Computer Specs:
2.5 GHz Pentium III
256 MB RAM
Built in, 32 MB Intel Video Card
DVD-R & CD-RW
Windows XP

Thanks a lot!

To me sounds like the disc is scratched. I had a somewhat same problem with one of my games, installed about 70% and just hanged, then said installation failed. Check the back for dust and scratches, or if it's downloaded, re-download.

CRC is a method to check the integrity of a file, ie if it was altered in some way. A CRC error mean that the file itself is corrupt/changed in some way.

If cleaning your disc fails to show any results, return it back on warranty. If its downloaded...well, find another file
