There is a silhouette of a Space Marine against the sun and underneath it says

It's hard to be sure if it's a Space Marine or not, but anyone who has first hand access to PC Gamer should stay tuned and give us news ASAP when the mag hits the shelves.

Also, some e-mags and/or gaming sites can probably get the info somehow (industry spy?), so we should stay tuned for anything anytime.

Erm, that sillouette is the space marine with the powerfist walking forward which has been depicited on the game workshop site a few times.

Could maybe be a Dark Angel space marine with that kind of figure just due to looking like he is wearing a robe over his power armour if it is indeed a Space Marine. Kind of hard to actually tell but it does look like the silloute could be a Space Marine with a plasma gun or pistol, a badass powerfist, or even better be a Terminator due to the way that you cannot see a SM helmet while their being what appears to be a power fist and other stuff, along with a big bulky figure.

At the risk of getting my hopes up, that resembles almost picture for picture of the one from Game workshop. The Pistol, odd head armor, hell even the toga thingy on his waist looks the same in the picture.(well, its silhouette)

I really do hope it is information on DoW2 and not the MMO/something not DoW. :-(

I just posted that image above :P. if you look, the head isn't sticking above the powerpack in the picture linked by me and on the black image, they are indentical, just look alittle closer :P

Power fist, pointed down gun even the purity seals flowing from the waist are in the black image aswell as the one I linked.

Some art fella here on the boards can put them side to side if they want, but I'm not blind


Edit: Doesn't matter if its just after SS, Soulstorm is a wrap up before DoW2, we all knew it was, they might just announce its in the work next month, its not like its going to be out soon, its probably next year at the earliest, 2009 at the latest.

Honestly, with all the hints before and around soulstorm appearing on the net it was obvious :P. Plus, what does it matter, you might be/will be getting DoW2, Soulstorm will get forgotten in a instant by that fact alone and tbh, SS was just a cashcow to finish off the original series before the sequel came in.

It could well be a proper sequel to DoW.

Think about how EA have just announced Red Alert 3 right before the release of Kane's Wrath. Relic could be attempting something similiar here.

Passshh.. anyone with a brain can see its the initial advert to Dawn of War 2.. I mean "A New Dawn" and the outline is clearly a SpaceMarine. Come on people... Give it up..

This is what we've been waiting for years! Now my greatest concern is how moddable this thing will be (considering how "locked down" CoH and its expansions are even after 2years), what the AI will be (although our team would drastically optimize it regardless), and how robust the underlying code is (as good as Blizzard's codebase)?

It's definitely the silouhette of the marine Skullcap and others have linked on page 1 of this thread. I doubt they would use the word DAWN so prominently if it was the online game. If buggo stays far from this thread, we can assume it's a Relic game.

Slow_Runner's comparison pic seems to make it pretty clear that it's the same picture, albeit with the gap between the legs filled in for some odd reason. The wording is quite suggestive too.

And Tyranick; It is a Space Marine, at least 99.99% recurring chance of it being one. Have a look at Slow_Runner's post at the end of page 1.

'course the artwork is that of a Crimson Fists Marine, but we can probably expect Blood Ravens (again) for a DoW2 (which would have been a good thing - had they not needlessly used Blood Ravens in DC and SS too, but as a result it's now a bad thing).

Hmm...so with Red Alert 3 and apparently DoW2 on the horizon, looks like the war of the next breed of RTS' has begun.

I like the Metamap style...but maybe it should be moved to skirmish, and be a new kind of mode. Like some kind of "side story" for each race (maybe as like a mini plot or something)...bit like BFME2's ring of..errr ring of somthing mode which was kinda crap, but was none the less meta mappy style. But with some meaning.

I got tons of ideas to improve the metamap style of play, hopefully be able to impliment into SS, to liven it up a bit lol :P

BFME2's metamap system was called the War of the Ring mode I believe (not related to the game of the same name, of course :P).

And it pwned DC's metamap system 1000x over (most certainly after the improvements they made to it in the expansion).

The actual RTS segment of BFME2 wasn't as good as that of DoW (and was a huge step-down from the BFME1s RTS segment, IMO), but it's metamap system was clearly far superior and better thought-out. It never felt like a chore to play through, whereas DC's definetly did, and it was also fun in multiplayer. DC's metamap couldn't even be played in multiplayer; and due to the way it worked it probably would have been impossible to make it balanced for multiplayer anyway.

I thought this would happen after Soulstorm was released either by press or a teaser at the end of Soulstorm. Didnt they release COH and DC back to back?

Either way with Iron Lore doing most of the work on SS that left alot of free time for the other folks to work on something else.

They just released a broken expansion for the original, so announcing/releasing DoW2 right after isn't a too good idea.

Unmistakably an exact copy of the Crimson Fist marine that was linked to, with a further shot of the magzine back by Slow_Runner proving it, it gradually progresses from the Crimson Fist marine artwork to a dark silloute. However just to avoid possible disappointment do not automatically assume they are refering to a new Dawn of War game just incase, but for all its worth let assume its a DoW2 anyway ^^.

@Thud: While I harbour your fears about how compatible modding is going to be with a highly likely and possible Dawn of War 2 the experience gained from doing the tools for Company of Heroes if they use the essence engine will undoubtly serve them well as they will have a greater knowledge of what tools are needed and such.

Aye, has already been stated it could be the WH40k MMO that we know is in production.

Or it could be DoW for DS/PSP/Mobile Phone (oh wait no it can't, it is a PC magazine - but you never know lol).

But due to the choice of wording, I would expect a sequel to DoW (or another expansion pack, to finally appease all those Tyranid fanbois...let's hope not lol).

95% chance that the advert is for Dawn of War 2 and not another Dawn of War expansion. No, let's make that 98% chance.

If that is going to be the selling line for DoW2, its going to be as good as Illidan's "You Are Not Prepared" from World of Warcraft's Burning Crusade Intro.

Though, as I mentioned, I'm not getting my hopes up as this could be the proper introduction of the warhammer 40000 mmorpg which was announced sometime last year. But, its a possiblity nonetheless, but I suggest not going for people's throats if it doesn't turn out to be Dawn of War 2.

I'd hope there will be a trailer involved with this announcement and we'll see some epicness to it which will make blood drip from our eyeballs from the sheer awesomeness.
