Unable to continue in campaign?
After the first mission on planet Meridian, there are no longer any missions on any of the planets. There is apparently supposed to be an Ork mission on Typhon, but I'm not seeing it. Either I've gone blind in the past 10 seconds, or Relic managed to make a bug capable of forcing a campaign restart.

We have this fixed locally, it's in testing. The fix will retroactively fix anyone currently stuck in this situation so you won't have to restart from scratch. It's a data-side fix so we'll be getting it out asap, I'll keep everyone posted.
For anyone curious it has to do with crashing at a rather inopportune time. |

It would be nice if the "Hotfix" also resets our Tyranid infestation back to 0. I've spend hours traveling back and forth between planets just to try and figure out why it wasn't working. That and the numerous times I've been kicked to my desktop with the same crash dump error have also increased the number of days to like 20 from my 10 when I first started. (another bug?)

Same boat as others.
I spent 5-6 days travelling to find a mission without luck. Think ill start over when the games patched. Dont worry though, im loving the game and i dont regret spending my money on it. Im also in a good mood because the ETW demo is out today at 4pm GMT. ![]() |

3 hours ago, I would have said Relic rocked.
Then this bug hit me. I had completed the first Meridian mission, then I got the Error 183 bug, despite setting my effects fidelity (but not texture) down to medium. Then as it was loading to the end of mission screen or thereabouts, bang whoop crash. Run it again and no missions. Now, here's the thing that makes me... disappointed. I'm fine with crashes, I can live with crashes, I ended up playing a hundred hours of Fallout 3 with pretty regular crashes due to a graphics driver needing an update. What I, personally, am not happy with, is the Design Decision to only allow the autosave. Any other game, any other, you get a bad crash that screws up your save if all else fails you can load up an earlier one. Surely the Designers could have anticipated some kind of corrupt save issue (which for all practical purposes this is) and had some kind of insurance done, like a save being made available from the start of your last successful mission (thereby avoiding any quicksave/quickload stuff that relic seems to hate). Not a happy bunny |

I feel you on that Compel, I really do. I think the autosave would have been a pretty nifty campaign tool, *IF* the game worked. As it is, I have lost almost 10 days in game and most of my planets are tyranid food, all because of this bug.
Still, I have been a huge fan of Relic's work over the last years. Homeworld was epic and groundbreaking, DoW resparked an interest in 40k that had all but died, and CoH is by far the game I have spent the most time playing since it's release. I know I'm disappointed, and very very frustrated, but I'm not going to turn on Relic just because I have had a few frustrating days...I mean the whole reason I'm upset is because I *really* *really* like their game. If I didn't like it, hell, I wouldn't give a crap. Just try to remember that Relic really is trying to make the game we all will be wanting to play for years to come. They didn't set out to launch a game that would cause thier fans consternation and frustration. That's the last thing they set out to do. I also have to mention that on this site and the official forums Jager, Noseworm, Haven0, Pulse and anyone else I have failed to mention have gone out of their way to accept responsibility for the errors, and to help those of us with these problems. I personally know of several game designers that would not and ARE not as willing to wither the nerdrage and outright venomous comments of many of the posts that are being generated towards them. They deserve some respect, if (obviously) not for making a flawless game, then for honestly and truly trying to make up for a rocky launch. I know that doesn't excuse what is now a very questionable design choice in the autosave, but I am willing to see where they were *trying* to go. I also know that if you are downright pissed about this game, as one irate poster said 'kicking me in the balls without even the courtesy of a goodnight kiss' none of what I have written will matter. But do try to keep in mind that Relic has also made the choice to make a PC game and that they are by their very nature (of countless system configurations and user abilities) are more prone to bugs, instead of creating a easily surefire coded console game where you just stick a disc in and go. Relic is still a PC developer, and a damn good one at that, and as a PC gamer I appreciate that aspect as much as any. I'm not happy about this either, but I have faith that one of my most respected design studios will make this right. If not, then they will have alienated what was once a very loyal customer. If they do though, they'll have proved that despite what might have been a painful experience for both us and them, my loyalty is deserved. *shrug* Take it for what you will. |

Buhh... Same thing for me. Something that puts campaign time back a few/several days would be very much appreciated. I'm sure you gents at relic understand how lame it would be to start again as a result of this bs.
Yes, the SP is awesome and very replayable - but not when I'm only 6 or 7 of the mostly compulsory missions in... Good to know a fix is being looked into though and I'm eagerly awaiting it. Cheers. |

I am having a somewhat similar problem, but with one big difference... I am 19 days into the campaign and have applied both patches (did so about 12 days into it). I have no missions left on Calderis or Typhon and am told to go to Meridian, unfortunately I cant even see Meridian on the planetary map. As you can see, without the ability to travel to Meridian my campaign is effectively locked up. No amount of traveling between Calderis and Typhon has made Meridian magicaly appear on my map.
Any suggestions? ;( |

Well I restarted and by day 9, after the Vengence of Davian Thule mission, against a warrior, it has finally allowed me to travel to Meridian. The first game I played I was having trouble with my AMD CPU overload, so some missions crashed out on me during play. It may have had something to do with Meridian not showing up on the map when it was time, or it could of been because I started the game at version 1.0.0 and updated it to 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 as I went through to try to fix the CPU issue.
This time around I did not crash out of any missions, completing them all without a hitch. Not to mention startng it from version 1.1.2. So try this Mike000 and Mike1631. |
