Tyranid Mod Needs New Members
Hey all.
The Tyranid Mod (new web address!) is still chugging (albeit slowly). But we're lacking for members. Specifically, we need: - animators - a UI specialist - a sound/voice tech At the moment, here's where we're at: We have a Hive Tyrant fully tricked out with every possible upgrade option it could need. But our main animator - Kaveman - no longer has the free time to do our animations anymore. So this baby's been sitting around waiting for the right person to come and animate it. We also have at least one more unit that the public don't know about yet which will need animating after our 0.5 release, and also the possibility of new codex units when GW re-releases Tyranids in January. We're also in the middle of setting up a new method of building - similar to the DE soul abilities bar (build bar runs along the top of the menu UI, click a button, place a building). But, we need someone to actually do the UI modifications to get it in place. Also, we're trying to gear the Ork resource to function like Faith (since Faith is apparently hardcoded) as a second resource. And mysteriously all our sound guys seem to disappear after about 2 months of being with us. We're not sure whether this is the work of ninjas, or whether they've managed to actually record the psychic keening of a genestealer brood and consequently become part of a hivefleet. Regardless, we could really use someone to do it - we currently have no sighting sounds, and a lot of our units are short on the audio front (and sadly, we actually don't know where on half of them!). So if any of this sounds like the sort of thing you want to be doing, please visit our forum (the address again is: http://tyranids.gameapollo.com) and talk to us about it. For the build bar:
At the moment Croaxleigh is working on the mechanics for the "click button -> place building" part. It should be complete soon (fingers crossed) once he overcomes his current troubles. On the UI front itself, if you've played our 0.45 release (or any of the previous versions), that's the extent of the UI modifications so far. Basically, we'd need someone to sort out that taskbar from scratch. For the resource tinkering: I honestly couldn't say, that's something Croax has had in progress for a while now. |

As does Octopus Rex and I, and that mythical taskbar tutorial is hovering around 70% completion; I'm hoping to get it finished sometime soon. However, I would presume Croaxleigh is proceeding perfectly well without any help, as Zahaqiel only needs people for the art side of the taskbar, correct?

I will say that it has to do with our plan for divergent hivefleet mutations. |

Gorb: That'd require you being on MSN. *grins* I've given you a rundown of the UI stuff previously, and you gave me a quick overview of things and said something like, "If you need more help than that, let me know." As for the coding issues, it was originally a crash bug in the DS/spawn thing, so I went back to the beginning and started working through it step by step. Then the AE decided that it hated my files, so I've been trying to figure out why they won't load.
Add to this assorted computer problems, a kidney stone, and the move from Hell that's finally almost over as I gave someone money in exchange for keys earlier today, and you can see how things could be taking a while to get fixed. |

What do you mean by Sighting Sounds? Do you mean like when the tyranids spot a race they will make that sound? I would certainly like to help ![]() In what format would you prefer the sound to be? ![]() Last edited by Ronal10 : 17th Nov 09 at 6:21 AM. |
