Congratulations! Despite the fact the only reason I would take a carnifax is as a weapon beast... yeah sure he looks very nice but do you mind telling me why you'd take such a slow model?

Well hes basically an enemy fire magnet isnt he. Everyone that plays against Nids wants to take out the big bad mofos as they look mean, & this (beautifully) painted beast should attract a lot of attention from the guy on the other side of the table.

With his ability to heal 1 wound per turn, Toughness 6 & Wounds 4 im hoping he lives long enough for the rest of my Swarm to close in for the kill. You are right, he is slow & may not make it into combat, but he is a sexy decoy

PS - Should i paint a target on his forehead?

nice win. since you have 2 fexes you can make a deadly combo.

since old one eye can regenerate, just move him up every turn to get into combat. meanwhile, give your other fex a strangler (str 8 !) to blast away at units.
now your opponent will either have to focus on the regeneratable OoE, thus allowing your other fex to use his ord template to kill everything, or your opponent will have to focus on your strangler fex thus allowing OoE to get into combat. this is more effective if you give the stranger fex a guard or 2.
this combined with a tyrant with wings and/or lictors and raveners attacking from all over the place will distract your enemy and allow your stealers and hoards upon hoards gaunts to get into melee.

Yep, that is indeed Old One-Eye. Very nicely painted though. I like Tyranid players who actually try to make their troops look like real bugs (a beetle in this case). A welcome break from the brightly coloured rainbow creatures of old.

Congrats. Man I love eBay. I just won a Space Marine Battle Barge for my BFG fleet for $10 less than what it would cost in the store, thing's still in the original packing.

As a rule, I never buy painted models since a big part of the fun for me is painting (am an enthusiastic modeller), but I'd make an exception for one that looks as good as your Carnifex does there. That is really outstanding looking.

Uh thats not a normal Carnifex persay thats the Old One Eye. A MUCH deadlier version that has d6+1 attacks, regains a lost wound at end of your turn and revives.

That's all well and good, but 'Nids aren't actually bugs. Do what you want, they probably ate a lot of livestock on human worlds. Why not give them pig snouts, curly tails and paint them pink? :P

Yeah, I gotta say that's a pretty good paintjob, and I really like the effort lavished on the base.

Well Old One Eye arrived today & although it was packaged pretty well it had broken into its separate limbs. Putting it back together has been a real pain. Am gonna have to touch up the paint around a couple of the joints later too. Oh well. Postmen suck...

No it doesnt really fit with the rest of my army, but i like the fact that its really old looking, so its carapace looks far more aged than the rest. All my others look like they just spawned out the vats. Wont bother showing my other 'Fex as its currently being auctioned off on ebay. Heres a pic of a Warrior i just finished tho...

OoE and the Red Terror are actually monsterous creatures, not special characters.

They are special characters in the way that they are unique, you may never have more than one in your army.

pretty good. you going to replace the fex your selling?

+ WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT O_o The "red terror" is 40k's Version of the queen from alien. shes ugly, chases people and Loves eating space marines. though i guess you could say "well there has to be more than one of her" ... hrmm. i guess it makes sence, there are more than one of old one eye (as it says). Plenty of other Zombie Carnifexes turning up in the frozen tiddly bitz of the imperium, why cant the red terror spawn a few copys of itself?

nah, tyrants are to big / gribbly and shoot. + im sure they are genderless. hrmm... what i mean to say is, i can imagin the red terror slinking round a space ship eating people (much like a geanstealer but far worse...) than a hivetyrant trying to squeeze thru the airvents before Lashing out thru a duct with the ocasional Scythed Talon of death o_o

(chuckles: i can almost imagin that as a dumb parody for alien "Ahg, Luitenant riply, theres sumthing Really big Stuck in the airconditioning and its trying to eat me" "Ah can it hudson ... omg... your right, man that thing must be really fat" *threatening Grumble* "quick get my flame thrower" *Threatening Screech , tries to move but is to fat to get anywhere*) hehehe

My fex is the original model, it only has 2 sets of Scything Talons so hes been made redundant by Old One Eye. This is why its currently being sold off on ebay

I do want to buy another Carnifex but am waiting until the new version is released as its supposed to not only look better but be able to carry 2 guns whereas the current model cant. To compensate for my lack of TMCs while i wait god knows how long for the new model to come out im stocking up on Warriors as they've gotta be the best all-rounders

I need a big wet fish to smack you for that...
No wait this should do :Slap:
With 4th ed rules almost all nid armys are useless. One example is that having creatures with leaping is utterly pointless troops now assault 12" and get full attacks within 2" which is what leaping does....
Oh and once more for the need to redo eldar
:Slap:
And once more because you said space marines just cause I hate how many people use them

If nids still hav the stacking (when in melee combat, 3 rows of nids r allowed to stack up, tripling the amount of damage able to be done) rule then it shuldnt really matter - anyway, leap doubles the range/movement, so u can jump into the range dipicted ther and charge 'em, but its only for gaunts and uses up ther firing turn - wich is gd for hormagaunts coz they dont hav guns . also the huge dosage of psyker abilitys from all models with hive nodes shuld make up for it, and as u can mutate nids, it adds a huge range of stuff u can do with em...and when you have a huge load nids, just distract the nme 4 long enouth 4 the big ones to get into close combat at rip em all to shreds - works everytime.

biomorphs shoud be placed on places that seem right (ie. adrenal gland on the creatures back (not tail) extended carapac on the creatures shoulders)

That old one eye has a very nice paint job ( i gota get me one of those old one eyes)

well on a Hive Tyrant, it kinda hard to palce one of them glands onto them big bits - its doesnt really look right either
the tail fitted snuggly so i chose ther.

Heres a few more btw:
1)A termagant with devouler, 2 carapeices and an adrenal gland: http://s3.invisionfree.com/Paintbal...=post&id=827043
2)And the next pic the entire 2 pages on modelling biomorphs an the like. ull have to clik the little bit in the bottom right corner that usually comes up on extra large pics (like wallpaper for example): http://s3.invisionfree.com/Paintbal...=post&id=832748

Well its a nice model but ihave always looked down on buying painted models on ebay,
Have some pride man!
Oh and about the 4th ed...
Assault is not going to be moved to 12'' at all... In fact the game is moving into a more shooty direction, with CC being more tactical strikes then overall bloodbaths.
Lastly in the 4th edition, Monstrous creatures will be able to fire two weapons in the shoting phase, therefore the Carinfex with 2 ranged weapons will become the better choice...

isnt the whole idea of tyranids sumin along the lines of giant blood baths thou...? the only the way to actually win a game with tyranids is get em into close combat...wich usually always happens

I dont see the big problem with buying painted models, Some of us dont have the time to spend day in and out painting, and then you should fit some game time into it as well.

Work, training and socialising etc takes up alot of time, so painting kinds of gets pushed back... Phear my primed army--
