how about data>space_marine>ebps

just list it differently?

The directory structure is taken straight from the SGA archive. No changes are made. This is the way DoW reads it.

Perhaps me and Spooky should swap source code to see what the other does and doesnt do. (Spooky?)
And try and fix any problems

DarkAngelMaster : Try running his program now to see if it was a DLL/OCX problem. As we use the same DLLs (zlib.dll) and OCXs (MsComCtl.ocx, MsComDlg32.ocx)

You will get the ActiveX error if you fail to register the LuaDC.dll properly. Please follow the steps in the readme file and all should be OK.

A) We cannot - there are still some unknown areas in the SGA file.
B) We dont need to.

Do you have to sign up to get the Corsix's SGA Reader? And when I try to sign up it says...

"Due to the overwhelming success of Shyper over the last few months, we have decided to redesign our interface to better accommodate our ever-growing client base. My.shyper and the sign up form are the only services affected by this upgrade.

However, we are now offering paid accounts! Check out our packages here or proceed directly to the order form by clicking here."

Where is the .sga file format detailed?
I am thinking of making my own extracter purely for the fun of it and so wish to know how the files are stored.
I tried opening them in winzip, winrar and winace and they dont recognise it.

OK, updated version is up, new goodies:
A working D/L link (2 actually)
Fixed directory structure creation bug
Enhanced Text Preview:
-> Edit it and then extract the modified version
-> When opening a file which has an extracted version, prompts to open that instead

Hope these D/L links stay working

You dont need to save back into the SGA archive. THe default location it extracts to will override the one in the SGA file.

How do I make Corsix's SGA reader work?

Corsix : mostly its true, but not with .sga archive, that contains fonts, thats why i need it. (EnginLoc.sga)

Since i tried to use another .ttf fonts, renamed them to right names, which is in EnginLoc.sga mentioned, but they didnt load, always appeared fonts in EnginLoc.sga.

You don't need to put them back in the archive.
The default directory it extracts to will override the files in the archive.

To some degree you are wrong. The lua files and some of the art files can be placed into the w40k folder to work ingame, look at some of the existing mods or take a look at the DOW Wiki in my sig.

hey guys, i'm starting to learn about modding for DoW.. great tool Corsix!

i've mirrored the file on my hosting which can be found here: http://chad.nevyn.net/files/DoWSGARead100.zip

oh and Corsix, your utilities are pretty sweet so if you want i can host any additional files for you (200MB space / 3GB transfer and nice and fast with no downtime that i can remember recently) :P

I'm still pretty new to modding and have had a go at making a few maps, editing luas etc and now want to move into making (or duplicating) unique models.

I have read Compilers post on making a duplicate servitor and I have Beroc's WTP tool (not used it) a Hex editor (2 actually, neither used yet) and have Photoshop 6 so I am pretty much ready to roll.

However my queries now revolve around the required .wtp files that need extracting and file extraction in general. My main qeustions are:

1. Is there an updated "how to extract .sga files" written since the DoW Tools were
released as everything I can find pre-dated the Tools release?

2. Is it now best to extract the .sga files with the Mod Packager (as I have) or use Spooky's or Corsix's Tool's and which is now best?

3. If, as I have, you have extracted files using Mod Packager, can you then unpack them again using a different tool as Mod Packager didn't extract any .wtp files.

4. Corsix also says to download vbrun60sp5.exe first but on Microsoft's site it doesn't say XP (Home) is supported. Is it?

The problem is I thought I had extracted my files and I have done as per. the Tools readme and all the lua files are now accessable. But I don't have any .wtp files available but all the tutorials and threads seem to tell me to to exactly what I have already done - except use Spooky's or Corsix's Tool.

Do I overwrite what I have already done or now just select certain files/folders?

Help would be greatly appreciated and I am sure many others must wonder the same.

This may be a dumb question but how do I uninstall your program should is choose to do so? I ask because I noticed you .bat registered a couple of the files in your program.

Actually the mod tools "mod packer" works for making the sga archives and also extracts sga's also I think theres a tut on the wiki or search the mod tools forum detailed info in there! also the sgas make your mod alot smaller

here's the wiki link http://www.relic.com/rdn/wiki/DOWModPackager&v=iem

Woah. Mother of all bumps.

No, Corsix's SGA tool works only on DoW. Use his Mod Studio or the latest version of IBBoard's SGA Explorer.

Does my SGA Explorer work with CoH? I can't remember whether I tested it or not, and whether it was just the WTPs/RSH files that changed or if it was the SGAs as well
