How did Eldrad die?
I try to keep up with 40k fluff as much as possible but I guess this one just slipped by me. I read all of the fluff pertaining to Eldrad Ulthran's premonitions of his death during Abaddon's 13th Black Crusade so I knew he was gonna bite the big one, but how exactly did it happen? I can't find any story about his actual death. Maybe it's in a White Dwarf issue I missed. Can anyone fill me in?

yeah i think the white dwarf explaning all about the eye of terror. dont hold me to this but i think this is was happened.
a black stone fortress was closing on cadia. eldrad met up with creed and they decided to attack it toghether (creed to save cadia and eldrad so he can get the fortress back for the eldar). both eldar and imperial fleets attacked the fortress, the idea was to get eldrad onto the fortress itself so he could remove the taint from its soul of something (remember black stone fortresses are the tailsmans of vaul, made to kill the ctan by the eldar - right?) well i think the imperial and eldar where just getting slapped around and eldards ship couldnt get close enough to the fortress to open a portal or something to get him on board. i think it was at this point that the necrons decided (they were trying to destory the fortress i think) to enter, they went on a rampage killing large portions of the choas fleet...until the blackstone fortress disintergrated them with its rather large weaponary. however this gave eldrad a chance to get close enough, he teleported on board with his odd psyhic powers with a bunch of mini farseers. the farseers mostly died trying to keep the portal open. eldrad started speaking to the fortresses soul, in an attempt to find its true, pure, eldar good bit...however the soul had long since died being replaced by a rather powerful deamon of slaanesh. with all his psychic blocks taken down to talk to the fortress he was unable to protect himself and his soul was taken by the greater deamon of slaanesh. i think it was at this point that imperial reinforcements arrived and drove the choas fleet and the black stone fortress back from cadia. im pretty sure this is all right - right? |

White Dwarf Explained all right, so I will Explain to you.
One of the Talismans of Vaul (Blackstones) was going for Cadia and Kasr Partox (The Piece of Land nopt the Planet). Eldrad and Usarkar.E.Creed met up, They both knew the threatof Chaos. Admiral Quarren and the Imperial Fleets in the Cadian Sector and the 4 Eldar ships attacked the Blackstone. Eldrad said he would try and use his Psychic Abilities to reclain the Talisman, Since they were Eldar in Orogin. The Imperial Fleet was getting Butchered, 3 of the Eldar Ships detsroyed. Eldrads Ship tried to get close enough for him to Activate a Wraithgate to get to the Talisman. Then the Necrontyr attacked (Their Mission is destroy the Talismans of Vaul and all those who seek to make use of them) They Destroy Practically all of the Chaos Fleet, Ramming the Blackstone with Weaponry unitl it destroyed them all. But this gave Eldrad time to get Close Enough, So he and his retinue of Warlocks and Farseer opened the Wraithgate and stepped Through. Some Farseers died trying to keep the Gate Open, the Rest Died by having their Souls Drained. Eldrad slumped down to the Floor and tried to contact with the Blackstones Heart...However the Eldar Part had died Long Ago, and Instead was taken by the Chaos Powers. Not just some Random Force, But a pure Psychic Energy of Slannesh, Dark Prince of Chaos, She who Thirsts (Ahh! HE-SHE!). Without any Psychic Defence, from talking to the Blackstone. Slannesh reached out and Grabbed him, dragged his soul into the Heart to be devoured. It was then that Victorius Fleets from the Cadian System converged on the Main Planet, Forcing the Blackstone to disengage after it had Destroyed Kasr Partox. Thats what happened. |

It was official, The end of The Eye of Terror Campaign, WD had a fluff story about it (2 WD's Running though, Scummy Eldar, they let us down).
And he did kill Abaddon in a battle report. Its what caused the EoT. A Chaos squad broke because an Eldar Tank flew past them! |

I think it would be cool if Abbadon died and the Primarchs fought between themselves for supremacy... its just getting boring with all these Black Crusades...
It would also be good if Eldrad returned. So what if his soul was sucked out of him, suck it back in again! The Eldar race seems lost without Eldrad... Final thing... has anyone read the EoT Codex. If so, does anyone know any background about this 'Young King' title described in the Eldar mini-story at the front of the book? |

I want something good, something nobody ever expected, I think the Imperium gets hope and strikes back at Abaddon, driving him towards the Eye of Terror.
Eldrad is not actually dead as his soul at the Last minute changes the Blackstone Fortressess Heart, It becomes Eldar Again as they launch a Fresh attack on the Eastern fringe of the Eye. Chaos starts loosing power and the Eye starts closing... The Green Kroosade changes direction into the Tau Empire. Hive Fleet Leviathan meets the Largest Dark Eldar Horde recorded. And the Necrons, well, That thing on Mars wakes up. I mean, at the moment its an endless Black Crusade, Black Crusade... |

Tchnomagi, the Young King is the eldar appointed to be consumed by Khaine if the eldar need to awaken his avatar. On Biel-tan, the council of the Young King is composed of those exarchs who were not called upon during their time as Young King. This council has great political influence on the politics of Biel-Tan.

woot havent posted on here in a really long time but its good to be back, but i hate to start posting again with a dissagreement. the eldar do not suck in fact if played with the style that they need to be taken ,with they are the most powerfull race except for the ever cheesy chaos lovers. eldar troops though not tough are fast hard shooting ,and farseers are badass, not to mention fire prisims on grav tanks. my point is dont say that the eldar suck. pick someone who really stinks like the tau and say that they suck i mean really who wants to ride around in a gundam wannabe.

Do you think it could be possible that Eldrad is like a phoenix lord? Like if a really highly positioned Ulthwe farseer puts on Eldrad's armour and helmet, Eldrad is reborn into the armour? Or would that be impossible because he lost his soul to Slannesh?

I don't hate the Eldar in general... I just hate the Crystal Targeting matrix and the covardly tactics of my friend.
1. Place vehicle behind impossible terrain. 2. Move in move phase.(out of cover) 3. Shoot then MOVE AGAIN in shooting phase.(back to cover) I always get blasted to bits... |

Lars, learn how to counter, that's a pretty common Eldar tactic.
As far all the people saying they hope they Eldar die out, sod off. The Eldar won't go anywhere, they are too popular. Of course, I guess because you don't like them, that must mean no one else is allowed to, right? Regardless...the Eldar will never die, they are too popular in the 40K world. |

True; but homosexuality (or bisexuality) might be tied to their low population rates. In any case, it's irrelevant; that kind of behavior probably ties in with Slaanesh and losing your soul to be nibbled on for all eternity.

Eldar I don't mind, but Dark Eldar are soooooooooo fucking annoying it's unbelievable. My freind wins on pure numbers, nothing else but pure numbers, no skill whatsoever. Which is the general feeling I get from DE players who I've played at tournements, quantaty over quality. And that bloody Talos thing. grrrrrrr.

I think it's a pity they killed off Eldrad.. he is the most well known Eldar character and supremely powerful.. I'm dubious as to why he would have done all this and not forseen what would happen, after all he's forseen almost everything else that has ever happened how would his miss his own death... I'm sure he's avoided death many times by correcting any possible mistakes before they happen.
I'm guessing in the new Eldar codex he will not appear and will no longer be usable in the game.. that is if they truely have killed him off... As for the Eldar as a race, they are fantastic... my favourite race by far and they are essential to 40k... they may be 'dying' but given their technology and intelligence I do not see them becoming extinct anytime soon. |

I think maybe they're trying to seperate the eldar from their old image as the old good guys, and maybe reinforce their evil arrogant b***tard side, and he was the real fulcrim of that image of the eldar. The new guy I'm guessing will hate the Mon Keigh

I emailed GW about it, and they told me that Eldrad is NOT dead... Then they told me to go to the eye of terror website to find out what did happen, but I couldn't find it. I think after reading this I get the gist.
Oh, and mpjesse363. If you think the Tau suck, you have obviously never fought a battlesuit army or any Tau army in nightfight... |

I've just read the story about eldrad dying..jeez that guy cant write for a crap. I write just a little myself so i can tell, he got a incredible dramatic stage set up for him, he can make it emotional, kick in sharp battle's, whatever. He can throw in buckload of magic fight inside the blackfortress, that's always fun for fan's. But no, he write's two lines about eldrad meditating and then being sucked in. duh. But hey it's all good that general on ground is all pissed he has to evacuate. Nothing like self-righteous general to give it the groundpounder feel.. *terrible sarcasm*
