Mini-map texture
Noob here..
Whenever I make a map and save it, it always has the same texture in the mini-map, icon & map tga file, even though I paint it with detail textures they aren't saved on the mini-map tga or any of the other tga files. How do I get the ME to save the map with what it looks like in the ME (textures and such)?? I know how to make a custom mini-map in photoshop, but shouldn't the ME make it or am I doing something wrong. I tried saving the mission then going in and deleting all the tga file for the mission then opening it and saving it again in the ME but I still get the same mini-map files which don't look like the map..... please help... |

Hey how's it going,
I'm sorry but I have to correct you mudface. ![]() files are as follows: Name.scar - user defined SCAR file for scripted missions - not required Name.nis - user defined SCAR file for mission events - not required Name.sgb - Mission Editor generated map file, contains all map data - REQUIRED Name.tga - ME generated base texture, all detail textures and decals are stored in the *.sgb and stamped onto this - REQUIRED Name_icon.tga - ME generated icon for Game Setup screen - REQUIRED Name_mm.tga - ME generated mini map image for in-game taskbar - REQUIRED Name_mm_custom.tga - user defined mini map image for adding starting locations more graphic polish - not required Name_hm.tga - ME gen/user defined grey scale height map used to modify the actual height map data that is stored in the *.sgb file - this file is not required More documentation will be coming out soon! cheers -chris |

Thats not completly right. The Texture Stamping is shown on the Minimap. But when you open a Paint Program, you can edit the Colors... Made the Textures at my Water with a black texture stamp. Looked really cool. But at the Minimap you only see black space...pretty uncool... |

Well . . wish I could post a pic of my _mm files image when opened in PS. Looks like part is the detail map editing and a smaller part showing decal placement. As I have decals everywhere and detail mapped the whole playing area im confused why it looks so weird. Be nice to actually have a full step by step tut on this.Shouldnt be so hard maybe but im not used to having to do stuff in PS(im a noob with the util). Be nice to just show a jpg screenie Ive got . . but instead its a process. One that eludes me at that.
Ill also say . . im tired of looking at new map releases that dont have this. Mine included. Makes me feel like their incomplete, which without a mini . . they are. Last edited by Elefant : 26th Nov 04 at 4:04 PM. |
