Relic Announcement -- Patch 1.20 Released!!

Relic Announcement – Patch 1.20 Released

Hello all,

We’re happy to announce the release of Patch 1.20 for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War. This patch includes the following fixes to some of the most common bugs:
Seer Council ‘Conceal’ ability fix – It now only applies to individual members of the Seer Council.

Chaos ‘Taint’ ability fix – It now only heals in the second tier, but applies to Chaos Commander units as well as infantry.

2-minute Drop fix – Now players cannot drop out of games before the 2-minute mark without it counting as a loss.

Lobby Spamming fix – Fixed some issues with the lobby system which should decrease/eliminate spamming in the lobby.

The patch also includes 2 new multiplayer maps, as an extra bonus from Relic in light of the holiday season!
Railway (2P) – “Thats right, it's the 'One Way Railway'. Called that by the Guardsmen who were stationed here when I was younger. They say if you got on a path in this here piece of jungle, you never came back.” – Anonymous

Crossroads (6P) – Once a major driver of the Imperium's commercial engine, all was changed when Warboss Orkamungus and his warband ravaged the area. These days, the Crossroads are hotly contested as a supply route, with all takers hoping control will give them an edge in their greater conflicts on this planet.

We have also added some clearer error strings to the patching tool, to hopefully help you (and us) diagnose any issues that might arise as people attempt to patch.

You can get the patch one of two ways:

1) Enter the Online lobby of Dawn of War. Once you log in to GameSpy, the patch should automatically download and be applied to your game.
2) Download the patch from one of the following links and apply it manually:

http://dlx.gamespot.com/pc/wh40kdaw...fo_6115207.html

http://www.fileplanet.com/files/140000/148642.shtml

Please keep in mind the following about Patch 1.2:

- You need to have Patch 1.1 applied before you can install Patch 1.2. This shouldn’t be an issue for people autopatching through the Online lobby, but it could be confusing for people who are applying the patch manually.

- If you have changed data in your game (due to modding efforts, for example), you may have to reinstall Dawn of War and reapply all the patches.
We hope the fixes enhance your enjoyment of the game, and that the new maps provide you with hours of entertainment online!

Regards,

Awesome! It is funny, when GS was down a lot of people were saying that the last time it happened on a big level like that the 1.10 patch came out. Interesting it happened again before 1.20 came out LOL.

ROFL

found it BEFORE announcement on file planet. Was just gonna go post WTF.... but the announcement was here....

Are those the ONLY fixes? It's a 5MB patch with maps taking most of it.

Given, lua fixes which affect balance/bugs are not that large in size....

here's hoping

Anim,

Not adding "balance fixes" are understandable, if slightly disappointing. But every consumer has the right to ask for blatant bug fixes such as the numerous LUA file errors (i.e. no damage values resulting in minimum damage in a lot of units).

Hopefully, some of those fixes are actually in, just not listed. But there's absolutely nothing wrong with asking for changes that frankly would take around 5 minutes for a programmer once they got around to it and are clearly bad code rather than design decisions.

Chaos ‘Taint’ ability fix

Finally Chaos will be competative in the top ranks of the 1v1 ladder! We can finally huddle our expensive units around our expensive buildings while our enemies control the map! Finally as we fall back to our start and die in droves, it will take marginally longer for us to accept out fate and get out of the ladder ranks where Chaos does not belong!

All good natured sarcasm aside, thank you and good work. I am happy to see any improvements as long as I know that improvments are being made.

Any chance of some kinda post telling us once a week or so what you guys are working on? We only need a little scrap of knowledge to pin our hopes on and keep us playing between patches.

Cheers

These things take time...we still have to see if those fixes to the fixes actually fix for now

Of course for now there's no shame in asking

(01:02:26) (@Anim`) tbh i'd rather have a small patch once a month
(01:02:32) (@Anim`) than some huge patch 3 times a year
(01:06:15) (@fc|remm) I can see how that thread will soon be locked for de-railment

Has the f2 problem now been *properly* fixed? As in, units engaged in close combat are forced into close combat, rather than just lowering their gun fire values?

thanks relic. Stop complaining about the lack of balance fix(Well, I cannot try the patch as my motherboard is braindead :/), it is not because they have not included these in the patch that they have not been working on it:
They only felt that it would be better to have a patch with the changes they had already completed now, than wait one more month for a bigger one.
My only concern is the lack of announcement
I mean, it was a nice surprise, but many people there would prefer to know what is going on, wether the next patch will be a major one like the 1.10, or a minor one and such stuff.
At least, there are only changes everyone will agree upon in this patch.
(But I would have prefered an arranged team ladder over channel spam control a hundred times :/)

Isn't it possible at all to release patches for the retail vanilla version instead of requiring 1.1? Half of the issues with the patch is people's inability to install it...

The best fix was the 2 minute drop-very good. Now u can think about adding a decay to high rating players, so they need to play.

But some bugs (FC stun on FS) and the like need to be fixed.

Also LP spamming fix (plz make ppl lose req for canceled buildings) is missing.

And then WS vs ork, Scouts vs Eldar and weak Cultist (compared to Scouts the difference, for a basic unit, is huge) need some work.

Anyways good work and keep coming.

Surprise factor...

or an attempt at making it seem bigger than it is. But it is nice to know even with the time of year major distractions they are working on it. For that i am grateful.

Anyway I am inclined to agree with ani...once the majority of bugs have been fixed. frankly as is there are too many.

I like the patch listed changes, albeit its sparse. Guess we'll see another come end of january, and I was right eventho relic tried to dismiss my "friend of a friend of relic told me patch is coming near xmass" :P

Off to play. (btw no lua changes I could see in a short quick scan so my guess is list is pretty much it)

Cheers and thanx

Does anyone have the complete list of patch changes? Or is what is listed pretty much it?

Still no relief for Orks vs Eldar I see :/ And no Ork Mob Morale or Stormboy bug fix? Nothing to justify the insane cost of the Leman Russ?

I guess it's a good thing Relic is still working on it...so for that I'm grateful. We really need some important things sorted out though, and sooner rather than later.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Replays from previous versions do not work any more --> sync errors.

As to the 2min drop change......does this mean that if you drop, even within 2mins it still counts as a loss?? I could accept it being shortened from 3mins (since plenty could happen in 3mins) but I still felt that there should be some leeway ie. sometimes automatch gives me the wrong race, sometimes ppl's internet/computer could stuff up.

I know dropping is annoying but there should be at least some leniency period for genuine problems even if its only 1 and 1/2 minutes.

As I understand it, the period of time where people can drop from games without penalty has been reduced from 3 minutes to 2 minutes. That's all. Still exactly the same as it's always been except that time period is a minute shorter.

Honestly, I think it's great that Relic shows they're supporting the game still by releasing patches for fixes as soon as they have them. It keeps me thinking that they will be taking care of this game for a long time.

This is the type of customer service that generates brand name loyalty.

I think I'll be checking out the other things Relic has out on the market, and looking forward to their next releases.

You know, if Relic continues to give this game the same attention it has so far for the next few months, soon the final major tweaks that this game needs will be finished. If that happens, I can see DoW eventually becoming as popular as some of the more well known RTS games out there today.... I remember when Blizzard was a tiny company itself, and that this is how the StarCraft game and community started out also.... It's cool to see it happening again.

Thanks to all the people at Relic!

great work and great game.

It just hurts to lose the ability to view the 100+ save games I've massed over these months. First with 1.1 and now again with 1.2.

I can understand the difficulties in playing them with the new math/code...but where there is a will there is a way.

Is there plans to have some sort of backward compatibility in future patches?

Yeah, and this game pretty much raises the bar for how an RTS should look. I even run a crappy system and its still looks freakin greaty. Mmm...eye candy. Not too much stuff left on the list for other things to update, glad to see relic is still keepin up with the game.

*Ping displays for people in game/game lobby*
*Stats viewed in game lobby*

mmm, that sure would help me with the frequent problem I've been running into while playing dow, not its not glitches. More than half of my games have ended with teamates dropping. I'm not sure about you guys, maybe I just have bad luck.

Hmm, I just noticed this:

Quote:
Seer Council ‘Conceal’ ability fix – It now only applies to individual members of the Seer Council.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't this fixed in 1.10?

From the 1.1 patch log file:

Quote:
· Fixed Conceal ability so that it now only applies to individual members of the Seer Council.

Can someone from Relic shed some light on this?
